Last week, the Trump administration quietly released a sweeping new federal rule that would use funding threats to force institutions across the country to reject transgender people. The 400-page proposed regulation would codify the administration's anti-trans executive orders into binding federal policy, imposing a blanket prohibition on federal funds going toward "gender ideology"
The proposed rule, formally titled "Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance," rewrites the government-wide framework governing all federal grants across every agency. Among its most consequential provisions, it requires that before a federal grant recipient can receive money, the award must pass a "pre-issuance review" conducted by a political appointee—not a career expert or peer reviewer—to ensure it is "consistent with applicable law, Federal agency priorities, and the national interest." The regulation explicitly instructs these appointees to screen for "denial by the recipient of the sex binary in humans or the notion that sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic." [...] An institution that acknowledges transgender people exist—through its policies, its training, its healthcare, its bathroom access, its HR procedures, its name-change processes—could be deemed to "deny the sex binary" or to “support the notion that sex is mutable” and have its federal funding blocked.
Importantly, the gender ideology prohibition has no age limitation—hospitals could be targeted not just for providing care to minors but for providing gender-affirming care to adults, because prescribing hormone therapy to a transgender patient of any age could be deemed promoting the belief that "sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic."

This is all very bad and horrible, but I want to be clear that it’s worse and more sweeping than just eliminating trans research.
This torches everything. And I do mean everything.
A very abbreviated list of its ramifications include (but are not limited to):
ending funding for ALL DEI related initiatives
allowing the government to terminate grants at any point for any reason
preventing researchers from publishing, going to conferences, and being part of academic societies
requiring that topics must support the president’s agenda.
What this means, and if anything I’m under selling it, is the death of science and research in America. It allows the government to restrict any topic they please at a whims notice, putting officials who have no background in the topic in charge of deciding funding continuity. It controls what gets researched and if/how researchers are allowed to share their discoveries. There are no books to burn if the government never allows them to be written. This is fascism plain and simple.
Please, if you only ever write one public comment, this is the one to do.
Bringing back this guide to writing an effective public comment. This gives you the basics you need to know, what you need to include, a basic outline you can follow, etc.
Public comments are not a vote, it is a chance for you to say "here is an issue with this law I think you need to address" and provide justification for legal challenges if it goes forward:
"Comments raise the bar that agencies have to meet when making a rule; “if an agency fails to adequately respond to significant, relevant comments in a final rule, members of the public may seek to challenge the rule in court on that basis and claim it could be struck down.ˮ"
But also, if possible, don't stop at writing a comment. Don't stop at calling your representatives. You should ideally be talking to people in your community about this and organizing resistance on-the-ground; there is a good chance people are already doing that even if you aren't hearing about it.
Some added 101-level context from someone (me) who’s worked in federal grantmaking for 20 years and is literally certified on this document - this is a document that governs all federal grantmaking. It’s been around for over a decade and is a mega-document that combine multiple previous smaller documents that have been around for ages. It is updated every few years and generally the updates are minor - a notable change in the previous update was raising the small procurement threshold from $10,000 to $15,000 for example. Deeply dry boring minutiae that no one outside of federal grantmakers need concern themselves with. It was also federal GUIDELINES, which means there was flexibility.
This year’s is different. They are now federal REQUIREMENTS, which means there’s no flexibility. As was said previously, the 400 pages are not singularly devoted to being absolute shitheads to trans people. Theres a lot of stuff in there, some of which is the standard dry boring grants stuff, some of which is the horrible ideological warfare outlined above.
This document is issued by the OMB, the Office of Management and Budget, which is currently lead by fucking Russell Vought, the principal architect of Project 2025. This is how they’re going to implement all the horrible shit in there that wasn’t covered by Executive Order. Russell Vought is actively coming for my job, my marriage, and my kid, and most of my friends lost their jobs last year because of him. He is the fucking arch villain behind the heinous shit the current regime is doing.
So yes, please comment. You don’t have to read all 400 pages before doing so, it’s dry and dense as fuck, but I thought this information might be helpful. Also, while there is a public comment period, this isn’t voted on by Congress. The OMB just fucking issues it. Pressuring your elected officials into publicly saying “hey what the fuck are you doing here” is good, though.
Please note the comment period is open through JULY 13th, not JUNE 13th. I saw a lot of relogs yesterday saying "last day!" and I just want to say it is very much not too late.

Tarot cards and memorization is a lot like when we were young and trying to learn about all 150 Pokemon from the anime. There’s a LOT OF THEM! One thing the Anime did to try and make it easier to learn them all was make a fun Rap about it that aired at the end of each episode. They would do 10-15 each episode and then instructed you to put all the rest of the days together to know each one.
Repetition is easy. It gets you acquainted with them on a base level. So you can see and recognize each at face value when they show up in an episode.
Seeing and knowing the Pokemon is great! Doesn’t make you a master but its still a start! Travelling around the world to catch them all means Researching where you can find them, What their weaknesses are, And the final part: Catching them and getting them logged in your pokedex where you can ALWAYS refer back to for all of that information.
NOW: Does it make you a bad trainer to now have every single route’s pokemon memorized? No! It’s a REFERENCE! It’s there to help fill in those gaps so you’re not wasting your time trying to re-go through the information on your own when there’s 150 of them. Like Ash with his pokedex, even if he’s seen a pokemon before he STILL pulls out his pokedex to get tidbits of trivia and information about the pokemon!
That’s you! You’re Ash Ketchum! Your Tarot Cards are your Pokemon! Sure you can have them all memorized on sight, but when it comes to the nitty gritty it’s not feasible to expect everyone and their mom to know the intimate details of every single card! Hence why you need the Tarot Equivalent of a Pokedex. That might be the Book that came with the cards, That might be your Grimoire you’ve written them all in yourself.
Ash isn’t a fake pokemon master for having to use his pokedex to learn about pokemon. You’re not a fake tarot reader for having to still look up Tarot Card meanings.
Scrying is moving through these tags again this week, a few people posting their first mirror and water readings. And the most common how-to you find stops at gaze into the surface and wait, which is exactly why people sit for twenty minutes, see nothing, and decide they cannot do it. The technique that matters is in the parts nobody mentions.
Start with the gaze, because this is where most of it goes wrong. You are not staring. A hard stare fights you, your eyes water, you blink, you reset, and you never settle. What you want is a soft, slightly unfocused gaze that looks through the surface rather than at it, the way your eyes drift past a window to the street beyond the glass. The surface should lose its hard edge and go a little vague.
Then the surface starts to change, and beginners almost always misread what happens next. Within a few minutes it tends to cloud, go smoky, darken, or seem to breathe. People take that as their eyes playing tricks, snap back to a sharp focus to check, and that ends it. The clouding is the doorway, not a glitch. Part of it is simply your vision softening on a featureless field, and that softening is the exact state you are trying to reach. Let it fog over and keep your attention loose inside the fog.
It also helps to know what a vision is actually like, because the expectation is the thing that blinds you. It is almost never a clear picture floating in the glass. It is shifting shapes, a color that was not there a second ago, a shadow moving against the grain, a face that assembles for a moment and dissolves. Sometimes it is not visual at all, just a feeling, a word in the mind, or a flat knowing. If you are holding out for a sharp image, you will look straight past the real signal, which tends to be quiet and partial.
A lot of what people call a block is really the setup. Work in low light with a single candle placed behind you or off to the side, never throwing a bright reflection straight into the surface. Use a black mirror or a dark bowl of water set on a dark cloth. Sit so you cannot see your own face clearly in the surface, because a sharp reflection of yourself locks your eyes at the glass instead of through it. Fix the light and the angle and half the I cannot scry problem tends to disappear.
On patience, the honest number is that most people need somewhere between five and twenty sessions before a first real impression. The early sittings where nothing happened are not failures. They are you teaching your eyes and your attention to hold the soft state without bailing out the moment it gets strange. Ten quiet minutes a few times a week will take you further than one heroic hour.
There is a discernment line worth holding too. Not everything you see is a message. Floaters, the afterimage of the candle, the surface graying out, that is ordinary eye behavior and it is the doorway, not the content. The scried material is what comes through that state, the shape that carries meaning, the word, the pull toward something. You learn the difference by keeping a log and only trusting what recurs or genuinely lands.
When you break the gaze, write it down immediately, before your mind tidies it into a tidy story. Do not interpret in the chair. Scrying hands you raw, half-formed material, and the meaning comes later, on the page, with a little distance. The skill was never seeing harder. It is letting the surface go soft and staying in the room while it does.

Hello! Finally sharing this write up I've been using to make sigils and rituals for a while. It contains a couple outlines for rituals as well as the underlying philosophy.
Here's an excerpt from the first page:
"The Brain is a Pattern Extractor
The brain’s entire job is to take raw sensory data which is noisy, ambiguous, and incomplete and find regularities in it. Those regularities are almost always spatial and temporal patterns: edges, symmetries, frequencies, periodicities. The visual cortex literally contains neurons tuned to edges, angles, movement, and frequency bands, not to “objects” in the abstract. This is why form constants (spirals, lattices, tunnels, radiating lines) show up during altered states; they're essentially the “alphabet” of the visual cortex. So the brain already thinks in these shapes at a pre-conscious level. (Hubel & Wiesel (1960s studies)
Reality’s Raw Data Is Patterned.
Light, sound, pressure, fields, chemical concentrations, they all propagate as waves, gradients, and interference patterns. Many natural processes minimize energy or maximize efficiency, leading to spirals, hexagons, shells, trees, and fractals. The deep structure of the physical world is geometric and rhythmic, not random blobs. Thus the “alphabet” of nature and the “alphabet” of the brain overlap. Our nervous systems evolved within this patterned environment. It would be inefficient for the brain to invent a totally alien code for perception, it’s much more adaptive to use the same underlying geometry as the input data. Over millions of years, neurons that were better at detecting natural symmetries, recurrences, and ratios led to more successful survival and reproduction. The result is a visual cortex that essentially speaks the same dialect as reality itself: waves, edges, flows, symmetries.
In normal vision, your higher-level brain regions immediately interpret those patterns into objects and scenes, so you don’t notice the underlying geometric “code.” Under psychedelics, migraines, sensory deprivation, or altered states, the interpretation layer quiets, and you see the raw processing language. This is not a hallucination in the sense of being “fake”, it’s a reveal of the neural alphabet. (Klüver, 1966)
If the universe encodes information and energy in forms, ratios, and waves, then the brain, as an evolved receiver/decoder, would naturally mirror that code internally. In a poetic but also literal sense, the brain could be said to “speak” the same language as reality, because it had to in order to make sense of it. The brain’s subconscious “language” of edges, frequencies, symmetries, and form constants is the closest possible match to the universe’s raw patterns without higher level interpretation layered on top."
This is also the method I use for making sigils. A sigil meant to draw in uses a vortex, honeycombs for stability, star bursts for directed energy, and so on. It is also quite beneficial to incorporate numerology into this. If I wish to direct my energy in a way that promotes success, materiality, or financial gain, I may have 8 rays extend from my centre, or create 8 stars.
This combined with color, elementary, and planetary correspondences, creates a layered, "multidimensional" attractor of specific energy that directly corresponds to the brain's most primal subconscious language.
I personally have been experimenting a lot with spirographs and other shapes in my sigils. There is a near limitless potential to this application, especially when we incorporate things like sound frequencies, motion, and the use of different planetary metals or circuitry.

Me: Your candles are literally coated with oils and herbs that are flammable and therefore will catch fire. They are dressed to the point where you can hardly see the candle anymore. What you have is a fucking fire hazard.

So fun fact about my practice:
I don't like having practical tools with only magical use. My athame is a plain old pocketknife. I use it to physically cut stuff. My normal broom is blessed & is what I cleanse with (so is my vacuum, because, carpet). My ritual jewelry is worn daily. My ritual mugs are just my morning coffee mugs, but I pick out which one is best for the working I'm doing (Death work, Ouija mug). And my herbs, hoooo boy, it's my normal spice rack.
Just because it's mundanely practical & useful, doesn't mean it isn't magical. If anything, being interacted with more makes it more powerful.
