[Tilts head at Becca, confused.] Yeah, uhm... you haven't seen it have you? Thick, dark green, leatherbound? Seems to make feel a bit peculiar just by looking at it?

Don’t look so startled
I wouldn't say I was startled... I just couldn't tell if you were laughing at me or having a spasm. But, uh... yeah, sorry. Good to see it wasn't the latter.
Books aren't suppose to just wander off...
I shouldn’t be all that surprised really, yet still I am. Magic never stops amazing me. Was it a school book? If so, it is rather weird that it would go wandering off. Oh, really? What kind of books do you have at home? Now I am intrigued.
Oh? So, would that mean you're from a Muggle family? What... uhm, with you're still being amazed? Oh.. no, no. It's not assigned, I have what might as well be a small library under my bed... not that it's unique in my house. At home... [He gulps, regretting bringing it up.] Uhm, honestly... if they had them here, they'd definitely be in the restricted section where they belong... I'm Smith, by the way... Smith Remington.

An elusive book? That is actually a first…
Well... if there's a book on Magical Creatures that can attempt to eat your hand... I guess one that decides to wander off on it's own isn't as surprising. It's a lot nicer than what some of the books back home are capable of...

Hot Chocolate || Smith and Isabel
Isabel had been more than a little excited that Smith had agreed to go with her to the kitchens to get hot chocolate. Yes, she probably could have gone on her own the back ways, but she always enjoyed some good company. Specifically with people she hadn’t had the chance to really get to know quite yet. She pulled her sweater tight around her and shivered slightly in the cold. The castle was usually relatively warm, but lately she had felt a chill settle in. Mumbling under her breath, she made her way to meet Smith.
Having a Prefect escort her was not the usual means for Isabel but getting a drink to fight off the cold and some company made every shiver well worth it. She turned her head to look at the Ravenclaw Prefect and gave him a bright smile.
“Do you often escort hot chocolate lovers around at night? I know that you probably have things you could be doing right now, so I’m sorry that I might be taking away from that.” Isabel tucked a stray strand of red hair behind her ear and continued walking happily.
It was a little odd, he would admit. Smith having plans that went outside the range of reading, toying with the small collection of enchanted items he'd brought from home to practice cursebreaking on, or coursework-- it was pretty rare. Prefect duties were something that caught him off guard earlier on in the year, but he'd grown used to it. But purposely going out of his way to break rules for the sake of a hot beverage for someone? It was just unexpected, but he wouldn't lie and say he wasn't hopeful that his willingness to assist the Gryffindor would maybe put him on the right track for a new friend.
Even after initially meeting up with the girl once more, he was put a little more at ease by how content she seemed to see him. At her her own bright smile, Smith returned it with a warm expression to try and hide his awkwardness and confusion considering he was really more used to his dorm mate's company and a handful of others. Lucky enough, Isabel's question earned a chuckle from the blond young man and got him to think of something else, "Often? Not unless today qualifies as often, but like they say... there's a first time for everything. You're not taking me away from anything dire-- just making notes on a new book I took up for reading. But, I'd rather be helpful, I can read ninety percent of the rest of my time." He rambled, definitely not wanting her to think she was a bother, "Do you often roam the halls at night in search of your next chocolate fix?" He asked as they moved.
I feel like I'm out of the loop...
Far be it to assume that no one is susceptible to the lies of someone with a pretty face, Smith. Simply spreading the news is all. [shrugs and lets out a small sigh as she fists her hands into the pocket of her robes] My father wears a mask of discontentment daily so you can hardly take anything at face value anymore.
Most of the time, the items that conceal the darkest magic are concealed behind a tempting facade... Kinda a similar concept. I... didn't mean I don't appreciate it, I just meant to put you at ease that I'll be wary. [He gives a nod.] Fair enough, no matter what... trusting others is always a gamble.
The castle is a little chilly tonight...
That is perfectly fine with me. I would enjoy the company very much!
[Smith blinks, not really having expected a 'yes'. He gives a warm smile.] Very well. I think I can manage being decent company then. Guess the adventure begins now. Heh.
I feel like I'm out of the loop...
Don’t listen to everything you hear now, love. Not unless it comes from someone reliable. It appears that everyone is out to prove something lately. Me? Not much to be honest. Head Girl duties coupled with my dismal excuse for grades are keeping my parents relatively content with my performance as of late.
[Sets his jaw slightly, he doesn't need Caden to tell him what to do what he already does best. Trusting people was something that happened less often than Blue Moond did when it came to him. Smith shrugs.] I've always preferred forging my own opinions anyway, so no need to worry about me getting caught up in much of that... uh... gossip stuff. Especially if, as you say, people are out to prove themselves... then anyone is liable to say anything.
Well, I would guess content parents would be quite a deal less stressful than the opposite. So... I'm glad things are well enough for you.
The castle is a little chilly tonight...
Well, if you are feeling particularly daring, then you can join me if you’d like. I know a lot of secret passages and how to get there without being caught. I know this castle like the back of my hand.
I know my fair share as well, I wouldn't call it daring. But, I guess it wouldn't hurt to give... well, we'll call it a Prefect escort to the kitchens for you. Uh.. as long as that suits you, of course.
I feel like I'm out of the loop...
Reading and practicing are two of my favorite things to do, so I can understand wasting time on them. [Shrugs a little, laughing along.] I’m not as good at nicknames as you are, it would seem. But, I think your legs are fine just the way they are.
[Smith shakes his head slightly, smiling still.] I'm pretty rubbish at them, really. I just amuse myself giving them to friends, Beccmeister. [He gives a wry smirk, looking down a little.] Well, I imagine my legs would thank you if they could. But, just as well, I like your nicknaming just the way it is.... after all, you have to be good at something once Ravenclaw crushes Gryffindor... for the Quidditch Cup that is. Haha.
The castle is a little chilly tonight...
Oh yes! They almost make the hot chocolate. Other than the fact it’s chocolate. What a brilliant plan! Well then, let’s hope they forget the marshmallows!
As long as you're adventuring before curfew, because I doubt...well, I can't imagine there are many other prefects as understanding as me when it comes to the quest for marshmallow-y goodness for the sake of hot chocolate everywhere. [Smith smiles, not entirely sure if she'd just invited him or he was just imagining things.]
I feel like I'm out of the loop...
[She laughs awkwardly, looking down for a minute] Yes, yes, Brilliant Raven. Uhm… not a whole lot, actually. Mostly wandering the castle and enjoying my last year at good old Hogwarts. What about you, Smitty?
Lately, uhm... about the same, only probably wasting too much of my final year getting caught up in reading and practicing. [Chuckles slightly.] Now I'm not worthy of the 'h'? Maybe I should transfigure my leg into a peg leg, complete the illusion for you.
I feel like I'm out of the loop...
I’m sure you’re all the better for it. Can’t say you’ve missed all that much, but then again, I have a negligent view of what is gossip worthy.
I'm sure I'll hear enough from passing whispers soon enough, as long as I don't go and hibernate in my dorm outside of duties. Well, aside from gossip, nothing new in Caden's world then?
The castle is a little chilly tonight...
Oh! That’s a good idea! A night adventure for hot chocolate!
Finding one usually isn't the biggest adventure. But, I'm sure you could turn it into one, especially if they forget the marshmallow. Since, what is hot chocolate without them.
