Into an eternal abyss

Of numbness and mechanical living.

Defining Us

I won’t let the pain that came at the end be the thing that defines what we were I want to remember you with warmth and maybe feel those phantom hands on my skin We were something beautiful and that’s what I should focus on

I want to remember your smile that perfectly crooked grin you wore so often And your eyes would light up brighter than any star in the endless night sky I want to remember the way it would feel when you’d throw your arms around my neck and we’d kiss under a scorching hot sun

I want to hear your voice say anything other than goodbye I’ll listen to every word you ever gave me and I’ll keep my focus on the way it sounded whenever you told me that you loved me Cupid shot us with broken arrows and that’s why we didn’t last there’s half an arrow in my ass

I want to remember the way your skin smelled when covered in the sheen of sex and sweat We moved in unison, creating our song I want to remember the way your nails carved ancient runes into my flesh as you made calls for god even our collapse came in sync

I won’t let the pain of what happened be the thing that defines us We deserved much better than that
