this is the au where shizuo kills someone and calls izaya for help despite them having broken up months ago
izaya is secretly really pleased that shizuo thought to call him first. and he knows it’s probably because izaya’s used to hiding things and dealing with shady business, but knowing that shizuo still thinks of him makes him really happy
izaya loves that shizuo is dependent on him now. shizuo stays at his apartment and only really talks to izaya. he only touches izaya, even though that’s fleeting and brief. he doesn’t look at anyone. if anyone needs to contact him, they have to go through izaya. even kasuka for a bit
when they were dating, izaya always felt like he needed shizuo more than the other way around but this levels the field (and he’s terrible for delighting in shizuo’s guilt and anguish)
izaya really does genuinely believe that shizuo is still a good person and he still isn’t afraid of him
shizuo never allowed himself to hug izaya as tightly as he wanted or was as rough and passionate as he really wanted, but now it’s even more guarded and careful and their touches are so tender and sweet as izaya murmurs quiet, soothing words to help him relax

izaya really wants to have a relationship with shizuo again. and he knows that in shizuo’s vulnerable state, that would be super easy. but the part of him that genuinely loves shizuo knows that this isn’t fair and neither would want a relationship based on this, so izaya refrains and focuses just on trying to help shizuo to move on

izaya is very, very patient with shizuo. except one time, where he got frustrated and showed it, but it was still restrained and in a very izaya-like manner, meaning that it stung shizuo. they didn’t talk for a few days after that, but when they did, shizuo begins to try harder to process and move forward instead of just dwelling
shizuo makes izaya swear to never tell kasuka and izaya always keeps his promises
