i just realized something.

dally was 17 when the movie happened, and darry never wanted ponyboy in trouble while under 18 (since he wasn’t technically an adult) because he would be put in a boys home, but what about dally? he’s still technically a kid to the law. did they just give up on him after years of him running away from the homes, and just let him roam? did they try and put him in one at all? did one officer try n take him under their wing but failed? i need to know this

My absolute favorite part of The Outsiders movie is when Darry says “Pony, you smoke more than a pack today, and I’ll skin ya, understand?” and Ponyboy says “You carry more than one bundle of roofing at a time, today, and me and Soda will skin you, understand?” And Darry gets the happiest little smile on his face. You can see how thrilled he is that Ponyboy is concerned for him, and it’s really so sweet.
