Same…
… but it doesn’t prevent me from hearing scary things.
best friends to lovers prompts.
going as each other’s “platonic” date to a mutual friend’s wedding
agreeing to kiss each other “just to see what it’s like”
punching the guy who broke your best friend’s heart at prom
refusing to admit your feelings but making up ridiculous excuses to spend time together
“i’m not in love with my best friend” but everyone knows you're full of shit
there’s only one bed, which we decide to share (obviously been waiting for this moment)
friends and family think we’re dating because we’re always acting like a couple
sharing clothes, we're just that comfortable with each other
accidentally blurting out “i love you” during a conversation
“i’ll kiss you right now to prove i don’t feel anything for you” but the kiss proves the exact opposite
finding old letters you wrote to each other as kids and reminiscing
is there a reason you're always staring at me in class?
knowing your best friend inside out, everything from their favorite song, to the name of their stuffed animal in second grade
hiding your feelings, not wanting to ruin the friendship, even going as far as avoiding each other completely, yet always ending up sharing an intimate moment
immediately choosing each other for a group project, but spending more time making out than working
the first kiss and the realization of “it’s always been you”
starting to see each other in a different light
i’m watching you date all these other people and i don't know what it is i'm feeling but it's definitely not jealousy
you don't have anyone to go to prom with, so i volunteer, but we end up ditching early, instead driving around town, stopping for some cheap burgers and incredible sights
complimenting your best friend over small things, that realistically only someone who’s in love with that person would notice
that “oh shit” moment when the realization hits you
the “date” that isn't really a date but feels like one
showing up at each other’s house late at night
you're upset and disappear for a couple hours, and i'm the only one who knows where to find you (which is at the location we always hung out at as children)
one dropping hints about their feelings, the other one is completely oblivious
hearing your best friend say you’re nothing more than friends, dying a little on the inside because you wish it was more than that
family and friends constantly pointing out how compatible you are with each other
Overhearing
Once walking to school,
I noticed my friend
walking ahead of me
with one of her friends.
I meant to
catch up with them,
but then
decided to follow.
And I followed,
and overheard
Their conversation.
She said:
“Oh, E.B., you say?
Now, she is fairly cute,
but all she is to me
is but a dear friend.”
I stopped in my tracks
and felt my heart shatter,
for I had a crush
on her forever.
And then I smiled,
catching up with them,
leaving my heart
shattered on the pavement.
Ten years into the zombie apocalypse, you find a computer with a connection to the internet. You are surprised to find that all of the global news stations are reporting as though nothing is wrong, and there is no mention at all of zombies, or your country.
I woke up to the sound of birds chirping.
Slowly, I sat up straight, stretching my arms, and looked around myself to examine the room where I slept for the last night. It was already night when I arrived there last evening, so I only checked the small house, which the room was part of, for any zombies or survivors, and when I found none, I went straight to sleep.
Soon, I realised I was in some sort of small storeroom, but there were no supplies for me to take. I stood up, folded my sleeping bag, and put it inside my backpack. Then I proceeded to examine the rest of the house.
The next room I entered was a hall. I looked out of the door through which I entered last evening noticing the deep scratches on their surface and a big, slowly fading bloodstain on the floor. It appeared as though the former inhabitants of the house were attacked by the zombies, and, unfortunately, could not defend themselves. I shrugged at the thought and decided to enter another room.
This room used to be a kitchen connected to a living room, but either the zombies or other survivors made a mess of the place. The kitchen table was flipped, the chairs scattered around, some of them broken. There were also bloodstains on the floor, but I paid them hardly any attention.
I started opening every cupboard or drawer in search of food. Even though it was unlikely to find anything in such a devastating place, I got lucky. I managed to find some cookies, dried fruit, and canned meat. I took off my backpack and started placing the food inside when I noticed something I haven’t seen in a long time.
At the other side of the room, in the living room area, there was a computer. It wasn’t unusual to find computers in abandoned houses, but what has caught my eye was the monitor. The button, which I assumed was the off-and-on button, was glowing.
I quickly packed the rest of the food in my backpack and went straight for the computer. With a trembling hand, I pressed one of the buttons on the case. There was a small beep, and the monitor lit up. I got excited.
To my delight, I wasn’t required to enter a password. After accessing the home screen, I checked the Internet connection. This was unbelievable. The computer was connected.
Without hesitation, I clicked the Google shortcut… and didn’t know how to continue. It wasn’t that I’d forgotten how to use a computer, but I didn’t know what it was I wanted to do. After all, it had been the first chance to go online for me in ten years.
After a minute of thought, I came up with the only sensible conclusion, I could think of—I searched for my favourite world news server from the time before the apocalypse. I was expecting to be met with the old news I vaguely remembered talking about with my friends back then, but no article on the homepage sounded familiar. Strangely enough, all of the articles seemed to be of the recent date.
At first, I thought the articles were some kind of a joke made by someone with access to electricity and a good Internet connection, but, slowly, I started to realise that all of them were almost hauntingly real. To my further surprise, it also seemed there was no news concerning the zombie apocalypse.
I returned to the Google search page and searched specifically for the apocalypse. There was nothing. I continued by searching for any local news server that could bring some light to the whole situation. All of them were inactive.
I was confused. Up to that moment, I thought the whole world was suffering the zombie apocalypse. This wasn’t true. Then what was true? Did the allies come to our rescue? Did they try everything they could to save us? Or did they just isolate us from the rest of the world to prevent the zombies to escape? Did they just erase the existence of our country to keep their people calm?
What was true?
I assume that, after reading this, you realised this is no made-up story. If this message has reached you, share it with others. I sincerely hope it’ll reach the right people, and, in the end, we might be saved.
this is fucking hilarious
it's not 2020 anymore, but this is still kinda sus, ngl
Exposed.
the next time someone asks what this country is like i’ll just send them this

V tom případě si zakryjte oči, ústa, nos i všechny ostatní tělní otvory a počkejte, až odletí.
