I feel like there is a large difference between having a healthy level of self preservation and being so scared of everything that you genuinely struggle to get people to want to be around you and make friends who aren't in your bubble

Anyway; if you're making decisions for other people based on your own fears without those other people's inputs, you are not a good person; no matter how much you tell yourself it's "for their safety" and "for their benefit"

A lot of people in my life have done shit for me behind my back that affected me and it never turned out well-

All I ask is when you do shit like that, make sure you're solving a problem that actually exists, and that the other person doesn't feel like your dragging them into your issues and problems

Here’s the thing I feel like a lot of folks don’t get: I’m not trying to forget what you said. Honestly, I really tried not to. I can’t control what I do and don’t remember—forgetting things just happens. It’s annoying for you, I know, but for me it’s distressing as hell and when you make a big deal out of it rather than just reminding me you make me feel ashamed. I’ll remember that, at least.

It costs you nothing to be kind to people with memory problems. Please. It’s scary enough without people treating memory lapses as a personal failing.

Kinda off topic but this reminds me of a story I once heard. There was some sort of public demonstration of this illusion where people could expirence it for themselves. A woman tried to participate, but learned she couldn't because they only had rubber hands to match white skin tones, none of them matched her dark skin at all. I still think about that sometimes.
