Summary: You were relaxing in the astronomy tower late at night after hearing about some rumors. They happened to involve your best friend, and the love of your life, so you were just feeling down. When said person arrives, you both have to confront your feelings.

You knew you shouldn’t be angry. You weren’t even dating, why were you so upset? You stood in the astronomy tower alone, staring out at the night sky. Sure, you could’ve stayed in your dorm room, but you were just too… upset….
You heard from your friend Lily that Sirius Black, your best friend and love of your life, had been making out multiple times with this girl from Ravenclaw. Sure, you two weren’t dating, but you always had a flirtatious relationship, even joking about how you both own each other and no one else….
So, here you were, wallowing in your own self pity. You heard someone walking up the steps behind you, making you flinch. If it was a professor, you were for sure screwed. When you saw Sirius’ head pop up, smirking at you, you couldn’t help the scoff that left your throat as you turned away again.
“Kinda late, isn’t it?” Sirius asked, walking over and leaning his back on the wall next to you so he could see your face.
“I could say the same to you,” You mumbled, making the poor boy wince. It was rare when you didn’t banter back with him.
“Are you… alright?” Sirius asked cautiously. You shrugged, continuing to stare outside. “Do I need to kill someone?”
“It’d have to be yourself,” You snapped, finally looking at him. Again, he flinched, any cockiness on his face disappearing.
“You’re upset with me?” He asked softly, his longer black hair framing his face. You shrugged once more, feeling a little guilty for snapping. “Could I know why?”
You debated whether or not telling him why you were so upset. This would put your love for him on the forefront, instead of casually hiding behind a playful, flirty banter… but you knew it wasn’t fair to just keep him wondering. Communication was indeed important.
“There’s been a rumor going around about you making out with a Ravenclaw girl,” You mumbled, feeling slightly embarrassed. Sirius furrowed his brow, eyeing you.
“So…?” He asked. Fury burned through you as you turned to him, but he continued talking. “You were snogging that Slytherin boy last week.” You paused, slightly stunned by his words. You never snogged anyone… but the rumor spread last week made sense….
“Oh,” You replied as he scoffed, looking like a pouting baby. “Sirius, I didn’t snog anyone. It was a rumor….” Now, Sirius had a scarlet blush run across his cheeks, making you chuckle softly as he shifted from foot to foot.
“Oh…” He mumbled, shoving his hands in his pockets and looking down. It was rare when he got this shy and bashful. “Well… mine was a rumor too.”
“Did you spread it?” You teased. You watched the mischievous twinkle return to his eyes, the bashfulness long gone as he grinned.
“So what if I did?” Sirius asked, stepping closer to you as you gulped. “You were jealous.”
“Says the man who started a rumor because he was jealous,” You cooed, getting a smidge closer, your lips inches from his. You saw him gulp as your eyes jumped from his own to his lips.
“Why snog the Slytherin boy when you could snog me?” Sirius whispered, his voice husky. Again, you grinned, reaching up and placing your lips on his. His hands resting on your hips, your own wrapping around his neck and pulling him closer.
“About bloody time!” Someone yelled, making you both jump apart, your faces flushed as your heads shot over to see James, Remus, and Peter all watching us. James had been the one to shout, Remus had a smile on and Peter was giggling.
“I told you guys not to follow!” Sirius growled out, glaring as you looked between them.
“Couldn’t help it,” Remus replied. “Obviously, we would’ve missed quite a lot.”
“See, boys, I told you spreading those rumors was a great idea,” James said with a grin. You could feel your eyes go dark, and knew Sirius had the same expression. Peter stopped his laughing, paling at the looks we gave. Remus put his hands up, shaking his head.
“Hey, I said it was a horrible idea,” Remus said.
“James, I’m gonna kill you,” Sirius said, sprinting at him as James turned to run away. He knew that he couldn’t run through the corridors, as it was very late and we’d all get detention, so he had to make due with the space of the astronomy tower.
“You got together, didn’t you?!” James exclaimed, continuing to run. “You should thank me!”
“Well, this is going to sting him for awhile,” You said, walking to Remus and resting your elbow on his shoulder, watching the two boys run around.
“Yeah, Sirius will get tired eventually,” Remus replied, crossing his arms.
“And when he does, it’ll be my turn,” You replied, making Remus look at you. “Sure, we should thank him, but he spread false rumors about us. Plus, this is more fun.” Remus chuckled, shaking his head and turning back to the two running around.
“So, you think you two are a thing?” Peter asked, curiously. You shrugged, biting your lip as you grinned.
“Probably. That kiss wasn’t just a peck,” You replied, watching him blush as Remus rolled his eyes and chuckled.
“Great, not only do we have to hear James gush about Lily, but now we have to watch you two love on each other,” Remus mumbled, making you glare.
“Mmhmm,” You hummed. “Nothing official.” Sirius sped by you as you said that, pausing and leaning over, kissing your lips once more.
“Yes it is,” Sirius replied before going after James once more.
“I stand corrected,” You replied, heat crawling up your neck. “Looks like we are official.”
