You awoke with a start as you felt the arms that were once wrapped around you slip off and a loud noise ringing out into the dark room, followed by a grunt and a whine.
âChris?!â You exclaim, sitting up quickly, your arms scrambling to find him in the dark. You reach over him to turn on the light that sits on the table beside the bed.
âAre you okay, bub?â You question, tone filled with concern as you watch him turn onto his back with a groan, a hand covering his face. Your own hands immediately shoo his away from his face to check for damage.
âYeah, Iâm fine, just hit my face on the corner of the table.â He informs you, chuckling a bit at how ridiculous it sounds.
âWell, are you hurt?â Your eyes continue to search his face in the lowlight emanating from the bedside light.
âIt does hurt,â He admits, âBut like I said, Iâll be fine. Missed my eye, lucky me.â
âOh, my baby.â You coo, thumb gently stroking the spot under his eye.
ââŚOr maybe, unlucky me. Couldâve become a pirate.â He suddenly jokes, making himself laugh.
âChristopher! Donât even joke like that.â You reprimand lightly, swatting his chest. Which only makes him laugh more, and you canât help but laugh a bit too.
âIâm sorry baby, letâs go back to sleep, yeah?â He coaxes you back down into his arms, head coming down to rest on his chest, right where it belongs.
âGoodnight, I love you.â You whisper right after he turns the bedside light off.
âI love you too.â He says back, tightening his hold on you and planting a kiss on the top of your head before settling down to sleep again.
âClumsy ass.â You mutter to yourself after a moment of silence.
âHey! I heard that.â He whines. Of course he did.
âNo, you didnât, now go to sleep.â You tease him again.
âYou know, maybe if you sleep on top of me, I wonât be able to move around and hurt myself anymore.â He suddenly suggests.
âYou really want me to sleep on top of you?â You question, checking if he was joking again or not.
âI do, yeah.â He admits.
You shrug in response, âLetâs do it then.â
You immediately feel yourself being pulled the rest of the way on top of him, your hands flying to grip onto his shoulders. You both shift around a bit, trying to get comfortable.
âIs that good?â He asks once youâve both settled.
âYeah, this is good.â You draw out the last syllable, feeling content, evoking a chuckle from the man beneath you, feeling the rumble in his chest and the way his abs flex as he does.
âAlright, then, goodnight, baby. For real this time, yeah?â Chan asks.
âYup. Goodnight.â You confirm as you snuggle into him, letting sleep take you once again.

Felix had the day off, so itâs no surprise that he had come over to your place. You were in the middle of doing your makeup when he walked in, bare faced and beautiful.
âOh, youâre doing your makeup?â He steps into your room, closing the door behind him.
âYep.â Youâre a bit too focused on the task at hand to give more than a simple response.
âCan I watch?â He always asks if itâs okay, even though youâve never turned him down. You arenât sure why heâs so fascinated by it, itâs nothing new to him.
âOf course.â You give him the okay and he immediately sits next to you. He wraps his arms around your waist and rests his head on your shoulder, watching you through the mirror.
âI love watching you do this.â He admits softly, âEspecially when you put the rhinestones and the shimmer around your eyes.â
âI could do makeup on you; you know.â You suddenly suggest.
âReally?â His eyes light up as they meet yours in the mirror again.
âOf course! Iâve been wanting to ask you for a while now. A lot of times when I get to see you, you already have makeup on, or we arenât here where all my makeup is.â You pout.
âOh, well, what better time than now?â He gestures to his bare face.
âLetâs do it!â You clap your hands together, standing up to give him the stool you were sitting on. Youâll finish your own makeup later, right now, youâre too excited that you finally get to do his.
âYou did your skincare routine this morning, right?â You ask him before you start. He nods as confirmation.
âAlright, weâll skip foundation so your cute freckles can show.â You tap his nose, and he giggles.
You grab your eyebrow pencil and start to lightly fill in and define his eyebrows. Once thatâs done, you pick up a small brush, dipping it into a light eyeshadow to cover his eyelid with.
âClose your eyes for me, please.â You request and he obliges.
You carefully sweep the eyeshadow all over his eyelid before proceeding to do the same to the other eyelid. You pick up another small brush, this time dipping it into a shade that is slightly deeper than the first and placing it on the outer half of his eyelid. You then pick up a shimmery shade on your finger, gently tapping it onto the inner half of his eyelid.
You use the first brush to add the first eyeshadow shade to his lower lash line, before going back to the previous brush to add the deepest shade to the outer corner of it. Then you take a small, angled brush, dipping it into a black shadow to create a liner. You then add some of the shimmery shade to the inner part of his lower lash line. You went back and forth making sure each eye got the same attention and that it all looks blended.
âAlright, now itâs time for the fun part!â You cheer. âHere, choose the ones you want.â You hand him the container of face jewels.
âThereâs so many.â He awes at the variety as he looks them over, and his fascination makes you giggle.
He ends up choosing some small, circular jewels, and you get to work on preparing them to go on his face.
âWhere do you want them?â You ask as you wait for the glue to get tacky.
âOh, here,â He points under his lower lash line, âand here.â He points to his inner corner.
âAlright, we can do that.â You confirm, placing the first jewel under his eye. You place two more under his eye beside that one, proceeding to catch the other eye up to speed before finally adding a jewel in each inner corner.
You step back to admire your work. You canât help the look of adoration that overtakes your face as you admire how pretty he looks all blinged out.
âIs it finished? Can I see?â He asks, excitement clear in his tone. He has been avoiding looking in the mirror, wanting it to be a surprise for some reason. Again, not anything new to him, but you find it cute, so you donât mind.
âActually, hold on. Thereâs a thing or two I want to add.â You stop him. You pick up a larger brush, tapping it into a blush, and lightly dusting it over his freckled cheeks. You also add a lip tint to his plump lips.
âOkay, now you can look.â You let him know, setting the products down. He quickly turns his head to the side to look in the mirror, subsequently readjusting his body so he can get a better look. He leans closer to the mirror, closing one eye at a time to fully see the eyeshadow and the way the jewels catch the light.
âWowâ He stares in awe, âI love it. Thank you so much.â He looks back to you, smiling brightly. He wraps his arms around your waist, nuzzling his head into your stomach.
âIâm happy to hear it.â You find his joy to be infectious, smiling down at him as you run a hand through his hair. All you can think about is how adorable he is.
He leans back as you run your hand through his hair again, arms loosening around your waist so he can look back up at you.
âI love you.â He beams before puckering his lips, trying to coax you into giving him a kiss. You lean down, connecting your lips for a moment.
âI love you too.â You say in return, wrapping your arms around him to keep him close. Not like he was going anywhere, if the look of content on his face has anything to say about it.

Minho had a day off, so of course, you were the first person he contacted. He surprised you by inviting you out to the local amusement park. He picked you up at your apartment and from there the two of you traveled to the park. Upon arrival, the two of you made a beeline to the headbands, intending to pick one out for each other, as you do.
Your eyes scan the racks, searching for the one you want for Minho, the man himself not being too far from you, doing the same for you. Your eyes light up as soon as you see the one you want. You grab it and put it behind your back, stepping back to wait for Minho. He finds the one he wants, hiding it behind his back as well before walking over to you with a smug smile on his face.
âSo, whatcha got for me?â You look at him expectantly.
âHow about we both show them at the same time?â He suggests. The smug smile remains, seemingly pleased with his choice. Youâre not sure what thatâs about just yet, but you assume youâll find out soon.
âAlright, on three.â You agree with a nod. âOneâŚtwoâŚthree!â
With that, you both reveal the headbands you chose at the same time.
âHey, you copied me!â He whines and you realize you both picked headbands with cat ears.
âDid not.â You scoff, denying the accusation.
âOh, sure you didnât.â He rolls his eyes playfully, but he canât wipe that smile off his face. âItâs okay if you want to match with me, you know?â He teases.
Realization dawns on you in that moment.
âWait a minute, you copied me!â The reason behind that smile becomes apparent to you once you remember that you made your choice before he did, so you couldnât have copied him.
âI did no such thing.~â He leans in closer to your face, still sporting that smile.
âWhatever.â You shake your head at him, plopping the cat-eared headband onto his head. You decide to take advantage of his proximity, placing a quick kiss on the tip of his nose.
He straightens back up, and you think you mightâve actually managed to fluster him a bit with your soft, yet public, gesture. He clears his throat before placing the cat-eared headband he chose for you on your head, ensuring itâs comfortably placed behind your ears.
âRock, paper, scissors to see who pays?â He challenges, back to normal.
âYouâre on.â You accept, raising your fist.
He raises his own in response, calling out the familiar saying.
âI win.â You gloat. Now itâs you who wears the smug smile.
âYou just got lucky.â He tries. You give him a look as if to say, âdonât evenâ, which makes him laugh. You take his hand, skipping happily over to pay with Minho in tow, who is preoccupied with pulling out his wallet.
Satisfied with your purchases, you were now free to explore. You spent the rest of the day braving the rides together, with you holding his hand on every one of them, letting him choose where you sit to his comfort. When you begin to tire and the hunger sets in, you both decide to call it quits. However, one last thing catches Minhoâs eye before you leave.
âLook, honey, a photobooth! Letâs take some photos!â Minho grabs your arm to get your attention, his other hand pointing at the photobooth.
You both jog over to the photobooth and find that it is currently unoccupied. He pulls the curtain aside, allowing you to take a seat first before he enters, shutting the curtain behind himself.
âShould we keep the ears on?â He ponders aloud as he sits down next to you. He starts preparing the machine to take the photos while he awaits your response.
âOf course, we match, and itâs cute.â You reply simply, straightening your posture. You look at your reflection, making sure your headband is on straight and your hair is in order after all it has been through on the rides.
âOkay, weâre all set. What pose should we do for the first photo?â
âDo something cute.â You prompt, immediately forming a peace sign with your hand and raising it up to your face to frame your winking eye, lips widening into a smile. Minho smiles too, placing a finger on his cheek. The flash goes off, signifying the first photo had been taken.
âLetâs do a silly one.â Minho says, directing the next photoâs concept.
You put your hands up to your face, peeking through the gaps in between your index finger and the rest of your fingers. He decides to cover his mouth, eyebrows raising, pretending to be shocked. The flash goes off once again. Two down, two more to go.
âI want a couply one.â You pout. He playfully groans before wrapping an arm around you. You place your hand on his chin, holding him gently before leaning over and pressing your lips to his cheek. Flash; three down.
For the final photo, you decide to take advantage of his proximity for the second time that day. You use the hand on his face to turn it towards you, pressing a kiss to his lips as the final flash goes off. He ducks his head into your shoulder after you pull away, feeling flustered once again. You just laugh at him, although you do find his actions endearing, and he straightens back up.
âLetâs see the photos!â You shout excitedly, shooting up out of your seat and maneuvering past Minho. You pull the curtain back and step out, immediately turning to grab the two strips out of the slot. He steps out and you hand him his respective photo strip.
âTheyâre so cute!â You grin, grabbing Minhoâs bicep and giving it a squeeze.
He just chuckles, feeling happy that youâre happy.
âNow that thatâs done, letâs go eat!â He cheers, pocketing the photos and taking your empty hand, leading you to the exit.

You finally had some free time and had decided to rewatch one of your favorite movies. You were sitting on your couch, trying to get comfortable, but for some reason, you were freezing cold. The blanket you kept on the back of the couch was in the wash, so you had no choice but to pause the movie, reluctantly trudging to your bedroom for something to warm you up.
You open your closet, examining your options. You finally pick out one of your sweaters, but something else catches your eye when you go to grab it. Your hand is reaching for it before your brain can process what it is. The article of clothing slips off the hanger with one tug of the sleeve, and next thing you know, itâs in your hands. Chanâs black hoodie. One of many, of course.
You know you shouldnât. You know you should just put it back or throw it down on the bed and text a quick picture to Chan letting him know itâs still here if he wants it back. But it smells like him, and itâs so big and cozy, and you remember how warm you always felt every time you put it on. Youâre tugging it over your head before you can stop yourself, feeling satisfied, yet pathetic.
You shut the closet door and turn off the light, returning to your place on the couch. You opt to lay down now that you think the comfort youâve been searching for has been found, unpausing the movie.
Youâve been settled in for about ten minutes when you remember why this was going to be such a bad idea. The sounds of the movie fade as your thoughts travel to all the times it wasnât just you laying on this couch, watching this particular movie, in this particular hoodie. His scent surrounds you and you can almost imagine him holding you like he used to. You feel your bottom lip begin to quiver.
You sit up with a frustrated sigh, turning the movie off before shrinking into the hoodie to sob.
âď¸ minho
You glare at the box that has been sitting in the corner of your room for weeks now. You packed up everything in your place you could find that belonged to or is associated with Minho. However, you havenât been able to bring yourself to give it all back to him. You told him you would bring it over soon, but that was weeks ago. This was one of the only reasons Minho was staying in contact with you, which you suppose is one thing keeping you from returning it. He has offered to come get it more than once at this point, but you reassured him time and time again you would be bringing it to him. Eventually.
You spring up from your bed, a determined look taking over your face. You know you wonât be able to move on with that box of stuff right in your room for you to look at every day. Iâll look through it one more time, then Iâll take it to him. You wish you could say this is the first time youâve told yourself that.
You take a seat on the floor directly in front of the box before opening it up. God, it even smells like him. If you remember correctly, one of his shirts he always let you sleep in is at the bottom. You begin to rummage through the box, pulling things out one by one. You canât help but smile at the little cat plushie you pull out. He had given it to you on a whim, finding it cute, âjust like youâ. He probably doesnât want it back, but you arenât sure you want to keep it either, so in the box it went.
A stack of pictures catches your attention next. You already know they are all photos of the two of you together. He loved taking 4-cuts and selfies with you anytime the opportunity presented itself.
You start shuffling through them, the memories attached to each of them flooding your mind. Trips to local cafĂŠs and restaurants. Visiting places of old and exploring places of new together. Pictures taken at the dorm or at your place. You flip one of the photos over and see a drawing of Jureumi, causing you to chuckle, which suddenly breaks into a sob. You were so caught up in your reverie, you didnât notice how close to tears the trip down memory lane had driven you to. You let the tears flow, watching as each of them fall, landing on your hand before dripping down to soak through the photo.

You decided to clean your apartment, seeing as you had a free day. Going out wasnât an option. If anyone asked, you would turn them down anyway. There wasnât anyone you wanted to see, except for one person, but that wasnât an option anymore. Your heart clenches at the thought.
You shake your head in an attempt to clear your mind. You reach over and grab the remote, turning the music you were playing up a bit louder, hoping it will drown out your thoughts, and help keep you on the task at hand. You pick the duster back up, proceeding to carefully sweep it over the blades of the fan in your bedroomâs ceiling.
When you turned the music on, you didnât even bother choosing one of your many playlists. You just hit shuffle on your collection of liked songs, needing some kind of backtrack to your cleaning session. Although itâs been a minute since you took the time to clear out any songs you had grown tired of or just no longer wanted to listen to, you didnât think anything of it when you hit shuffle.
You probably shouldâve seen this coming, but a certain song beginning to drift out into the room through the speakers has you slowly lowering the duster back down. You already know which song this is, but you canât bring yourself to turn it off before a voice starts singing the lyrics. Lyrics that were written specifically for you. Of course, you always listened to the songs Changbin made for you, but that was before. Things are different now. You really did mean to remove it from your song rotation, but you forgot.
All you can do is stand there, leaning on the duster, frozen in time as the song echoes off the walls and flows back into your ears. You feel your eyes well up with tears as you listen to his voice for the first time in a while. Along with the words describing an intense love for you that only leaves you wondering where it all went wrong.
âď¸ hyunjin
You had been in your new apartment for almost a month now, yet there were still things you had left to unpack. You were finding it hard to get the motivation to fully set everything up, because once everything was in place, you would have no choice but to let reality set in. You had this weird philosophy that if you didnât fully unpack, none of this would be real, or maybe things would go back to the way they were. Maybe Hyunjin would beg you to come live with him again. Therefore, you would be making it easier on yourself if you didnât take everything out of the boxes.
Unfortunately, you had nothing better to do today, so why not unpack a few more things to help ease yourself into this new life without him. Besides, living a life around these boxes wasnât ideal. Many of your essentials had already been unpacked and put in their new place out of necessity. Anything left was likely random house dĂŠcor, candles, and things you could hang on the walls.
Youâre rummaging through what remains in each of the boxes when you notice something peeking out from behind one of the boxes on the floor. You move over to it, nudging the box out of the way with your foot as you bend to pick the thing leaning against the wall up.
It doesnât take you long to figure out what it is. One of the paintings Hyunjin had painted for you. It was a portrait of yours and his favorite flowers together in a vase. He was always painting things, and sometimes heâd paint things for you. This one happened to be the one he gave you for your last anniversary. Youâre sure there are more paintings heâs gifted you lying around here somewhere. This one has always been your favorite, and itâs just now hitting you that youâll never receive another painting from him. Heâll find a new person to paint gifts for instead. That thought alone is enough to put a sour taste in your mouth.
You sigh, painting still in hand, as you walk over to the nearest wall. A hook has conveniently been stuck to the wall and you raise the painting to hang it. You step back to check if itâs even, which it surprisingly is.
Just for now. Iâll take it down one day soon. But not today.

Your phone has been bugging you for weeks now to clear off some space. Every time you go to take a photo, it alerts you that it canât take one because you donât have enough storage. Frankly, youâre fed up. So, you sit down to begin one of the most boring tasks you could find yourself being subjected to.
You start by checking your settings to see the breakdown of how much storage each app on your phone is using. Youâre unsurprised to see that your camera roll is taking up the most space. What does surprise you, is that your messaging app is taking up quite a bit of space as well. You never remember to delete your conversations, forgetting how much space the media sent between people can take.
You open your camera roll first, scrolling though the various photos housed in your phone, deleting the ones you see that you feel you no longer need. One photo catches your eye as you haphazardly scroll through your pictures, causing you to scroll back down to it.
Itâs a picture of Jisung that you have no recollection of taking. You arenât surprised. He always did have a habit of stealing your phone and taking random pictures. Now, youâre more curious to see if there are any other pictures such as this one (which there likely are).
You come across one of your all-time favorite photos you have of him, which makes your heart flutter, then subsequently clench. Itâs a picture of him sleeping, which you still find very adorable. Thatâs another thing about him. He always provided you with opportunities to take pictures of him sleeping, and how could you pass that up?
You shake your head, trying to get back on track. You hastily add all the photos you see of him to the trash folder. Maybe a minute goes by before youâre retrieving them from that same folder, rather than deleting them for good. Youâre just not ready to let them go.
Frustrated, you move onto your videos folder, hoping to clear some space that way. That proved to be a bust too, seeing as there were also random videos of him that you couldnât bring yourself to delete.
Your frustration with yourself grows as you move onto your last resort, your messages. You comb through your text threads, deleting social media links and random memes people have sent you. You come across your conversation with Jisung and you canât fight the temptation to read through it.
Sadly, it hasnât been updated in weeks. Still, it too is full of things you canât find it in you to delete. Cute messages, longer paragraphs full of love, random facts he learned and wanted to share, YouTube links, voice memos of him talking or snippets of songs he made for you.
With one last frustrated sigh, you toss your phone aside. You promise yourself youâll be prepared to delete it all tomorrow, but deep down, you know thatâs not true.

You were in your kitchen, rummaging through all the cabinets, as well as your refrigerator, in search of all the things you would need for what you were planning. You knew it probably wasnât the best idea, knowing the memories doing this would stir up in your mind. However, you really wanted brownies, so brownies you would make. You were determined to still enjoy the things you used to do together, by yourself. You did things like this before he came into your life, so you donât see why you shouldnât be able to still do it solo, even after becoming used to having a partner.
After all the necessary ingredients and equipment you needed were out on the counter, and the oven was preheated, you finally got to work. You successfully fend off the memories of you and Felix baking all kinds of sweet treats together, right here where you were still standing, as you continue to prepare and mix ingredients, before placing the brownies in the oven to bake.
You were almost proud of yourself for getting through the whole ordeal without crying or getting too sad over what once was. That was, until the brownies were done, and you had to go back to searching through your cabinets for a container to hold them in. Your eyes spot a container that looks suitable in the dim light making its way into the lower cabinet, and your hand dives in to pull it out.
Once it is in your hands, realization settles in. This container belongs to Felix. You hadnât realized you never gave it back to him. You were sure he took back all the belongings of his that he had ever brought over to your place. And it seems he had, all except for one. For some reason, this is the thing that makes you finally break, tears dripping down onto the top of it. You remain on the floor, clutching the container to your chest. The only thing you have left of him.

You reluctantly walk into the coffee shop, immediately getting in line to order your usual. You try not to think of the numerous times Seungmin brought you here for dates, or the times the two of you quickly popped in just to grab some drinks to go. Sometimes together, sometimes alone, planning to bring them to the otherâs place. Unfortunately, the line is long, and your eyes and mind begin to wander. Your gaze drifts across the cafĂŠ and comes to a stop when you find the little booth the two of you always sat in. A couple is currently sitting there, which makes your heart clench. You can almost imagine itâs the two of you sitting there instead, talking, laughing, and just being in love as you were.
You sigh as you tear your gaze away from them, knowing it will only make you feel worse. You shuffle forward as one by one, the people in front of you place their orders and move out of the way to wait for it to be ready.
When itâs finally your turn, you approach the counter. The barista greets you warmly, and you do your best to return it before ordering your usual drink.
âWill that be all for you today?â The barista asks politely.
âIâd also like an Iced Americano, please.â You add automatically, mind briefly going on autopilot. After all your time together, your brain had become trained to order two drinks, one for you, and one for him.
âActually, cancel that second drink.â You speak up after a beat, tone meek as you hold a hand up as if to say, âhold onâ.
Everything that happens after is a blur, in part due to the tears threatening to cloud your vision. You remember paying, attempting to regain your composure while waiting for your drink, grabbing it, and sending one last longing gaze over to your old booth before ducking your head down, and walking out the front door with a sigh.
âď¸ jeongin
Your friend is coming over to drag you out of the house for the first time in weeks in less than an hour, and you still need to find something to wear. You arenât sure if youâre ready to get back out there. A part of you has been enjoying being holed up in your apartment, pajamas becoming your official daily uniform. However, the more logical part of you reminds you that you canât stay inside forever.
So, you agreed to their simple plan of getting some lunch together, and maybe taking a walk by the river after. Besides, itâs a nice day out, not too hot, not too cold. You poke around in your closet, searching for what exactly youâre going to wear. You figure that your favorite jeans will do, hoping if you feel confident in your outfit, that it will lift your spirits. You quickly pull them on, admiring the way they look on you in the mirror.
But of course, you still need a shirt, so the search resumes. Your hands push hangers apart and then forward, sifting through all the options for something that will satisfy you. Your hands find a shirt that feels really soft, and you think it will be nice and breathable. You pull it out and immediately recognize it as a shirt Jeongin had once bought you to match one of his own. There are even pictures of the two of you wearing them on his Instagram, or at least there were. Youâve been too afraid to check if he has archived them, or worse, deleted them.
You stare at it in your hands, contemplating whether you should wear it or not. You know your friend will probably judge you for wearing it, but you decide that you donât care. This will be the last time you wear it anyways, and youâll let them know it too if they do judge. You quickly pull it on before making your way over to the mirror to see the final look.
Definitely the last time, echoes in your mind, but the tone of the voice in your head mocks you.
ââand thatâs how I ended up taking the bunk bed instead of the single bed.â He finishes.
âYeah, yeah, just another day in the life of being the best guy on earth.â You tease. You raise your head, repositioning it on his chest so you could look at his face rather than continue staring at the wall as you listen to him ramble. You rest your chin on your hands that are folded across his chest.
âIâm not, though.â He mumbles, growing shy due to your compliment. He laughs it off as he looks away, seemingly taking his turn to stare at the wall. You can feel the rumble it causes in his chest.
âYes, you are.â You argue. Youâre unable to resist the opportunity his head being turned brings, springing forward to kiss his cheek before putting your head back down on your hands that remain flat on his chest.
âIâm really not.â He looks back to you now, shaking his head slightly.
âOh yeah? Name someone better then.â You quirk one of your eyebrows up at him, challenging him to name anyone other than himself.
âRyan Reynolds.â He answers after a momentâs pause. A self-satisfied smile appears on his face.
You roll your eyes, which only makes his smugness grow.
âOkay, name someone you donât have a crush on. I think that might be clouding your judgement.â You tease him again.
âI donât have a crush onââ He cuts himself off, âThereâs actually someone thatâs above even Ryan for me.â He proclaims, effectively changing the topic.
âLet me guess,â You pretend to ponder your next guess, âHugh Jackman.â
âNope.â He punctuates his response with a shake of his head.
âWell, Iâm ready to give up.â You shrug, still staring up at him from your place on his chest.
âItâs you.â He admits, pausing to smile sweetly at you, âYou are my number one crush.â
You gasp, head shooting up. âAfter all this time, Iâm just a crush? Rude.â You use one of your hands to hit his chest before sitting up completely and going to move off the bed. Of course, youâre joking, and he knows this, but he still plays along.
âBaby, baby, wait, wait.â He laughs, perfect teeth on display while he grabs your waist to stop you, using his strength against you to pull you back to him. He wraps you in his strong arms and puts his chin on your shoulder to help hold you in place, your back pressed to his chest.
âI was kidding. I donât have a crush on you. I love you.~â He says cutely in your ear, nuzzling against you in an attempt to break you out of your faux anger.
You shake your head at his antics, fighting against the smile that was threatening to spread across your face.
âHey.â He pokes you, âSay it back.â His tone turns whiny as he begins rocking you back and forth.
âNo. Iâm still mad at you.â You pout as you struggle in his grip, pretending like you want to get free.
âNo, youâre not.â He sings, holding you tighter and leaning back a bit.
âLet me go.â You whine, using all your strength to reach up and pull his beanie down over his eyes.
âHey!â He exclaims, âLeave my beanie alone.â He laughs as he throws his weight to the side, bringing you down to lay on the bed with him. You manage to flop onto your back before he throws his leg over your body to hold you in place, while his arms wrap around your shoulders.
âSay it back.â He repeats as he leans over you, beanie still covering his eyes.
You giggle, reaching up to readjust it for him so you can look into his eyes again.
âFine.â You huff, rolling your eyes playfully, âI love you too.â Sincerity quickly replaces the playfulness from a moment ago as you look directly into his eyes.
He hums in approval, looking satisfied. He dips his head to attach his lips to yours in a sweet kiss.
Having got everything he wanted from you, he takes his leg off your legs and loosens his grip on your shoulders, allowing you to get more comfortable. You curl into him, placing your head on his chest again, letting his steady heartbeat lull you to sleep.

âď¸ summary: chris comes home after another long day in the studio & all he wants is a nice bath. a previous incident inspires you to help him out.
âď¸ a/n: ib some bubble messages he sent a couple months ago. the large section in italics is a memory / flashback from readerâs perspective. chanâs hair is blue in this bc it was when the inspo occurred, i just took forever to write it, lol. also, the song i chose is bc he likes it. title comes from the song as well.
Itâs another one of those nights youâve become very accustomed to. Chris stays out late at the studio working; you stay up waiting for him; he finally drags himself home; he finds you waiting up for him; he scolds you before you both finally head to bed for some much-needed rest, rinse and repeat.
You donât dare get your hopes up before 5 a.m., knowing he likely wonât be home before then. Youâll never forget the day he walked in after 9 a.m.
You woke up that morning extremely disappointed to find the other side of the bed was empty. You sigh, shaking your head slightly as you throw the duvet off your body, swinging your legs over with your feet coming to rest on the floor. You find yourself in disbelief that he still isnât home. This must be the latest youâve witnessed him stay out and as much as you tried not to, you were worried. You grabbed your phone off the nightstand to call his cell, catching the time, â8:40 a.m.â You tap his contact, hoping he hadnât put his phone on silent. You tried a few times to no avail.
You sighed again, putting your phone back down in favor of making the bed. You must assume heâs fine, itâs not like heâs alone. Heâs not the only one with a tendency to stay late, and even if he is the last one there, people are coming in for todayâs shift by now. You also know heâs slept there before (much to your dismay) so if youâre lucky, heâs getting some rest.
So, you tried not to think about it too much as you went through the motions of your normal morning routine, eventually making your way to the kitchen to cook some breakfast for yourself.
You were in the middle of cracking an egg into the pan when the sound of a key in the front door briefly stole your attention. You watched the doorknob turn and the door open as he entered, quickly turning around to shut the door as gently as possible. You werenât sure if you wanted to laugh at the fact that he mustâve thought you were still asleep, or just admire his thoughtfulness. He turned around after locking the door back, stopping in his tracks immediately upon seeing you.
âOhâŚyouâre awake early.â He tried sheepishly.
Even though you wanted to be upset with him, you couldnât help the sigh of relief that left you.
âTake a seat. Iâll add some more eggs to the pan.â You gestured to the table. He kicked his shoes off and set his bag down before sitting at the table.
You didnât even bother to scold or nag him, knowing itâs pointless. You just sent a smile his way to let him know you werenât mad.
So, when he walked in around 4 (a little earlier than expected of him) you were pleasantly surprised.
âWow, youâre home early.â You tease him from your place on the couch, the television lighting up the room.
âYeah, I finished up early tonight.â He sends a smile your way before he proceeds with the usual routine of locking the door back, kicking his shoes off, and setting his bag down.
âReady to head to bed?â You stand up to stretch, your body needing it after sitting in the same place for the past few hours.
âActually, I was thinking of taking a bath.â He informs you, âYou can sleep if you want, though. Iâll be in soon.â
âNo way Iâm letting you take a bath by yourself; donât you remember what happened last time?âÂ
You remind him of another previous time he came home exhausted, yet still wanting to take a bath. You had trusted him to be fine on his own, opting to wait for him in bed. You woke up a few hours later in a panic because he still wasnât in bed, only to find him sleeping in the bathtub. And he has the nerve to tell me not to worry about him, you had sighed to yourself before gently shaking him awake and draining the water. You certainly scolded him for that, and youâre sure he remembers.
âFine.â He quickly concedes, knowing this is a battle he wonât win.
âSo, do you know how to use this thing?â Chris holds up the multicolored bath bomb, inspecting it as he turns it back and forth. Meanwhile, youâre kneeling next to the tub testing the waterâs temperature.
âYou donât?â You briefly tilt your head up towards him to look at him skeptically before looking back down to plug the drain, now satisfied with the waterâs warmth.
âNope, never used one before.â He confirms, looking down at you.
âWell, itâs pretty simple, really.â You start, standing up and gently taking it out of his hand. âWe just drop it in once the tub is filled. Then, we watch it dissolve.â
âSounds simple enough.â He agrees with a shrug, nodding his head.
âActually, why donât you be the one to put it in?â You grab his wrist and twist it, so his palm is facing upwards, before placing the bath bomb on it. Your hand then closes his fingers around it, smiling at him as you do. You glance over at the tub and notice itâs nearly filled, giving you another idea.
âWe should make this more fun.â You suddenly suggest, bright eyes looking into his.
âAnd how should we do that?â He inquires.
âWell, the tub is nearly filled, which means you can put the bath bomb in soon. While youâre here waiting for that, Iâll go look for some candles.â You lay out the plan for him.
âGot it.â He nods, âIâll get the towels too.â He adds.
And with that, you leave the bathroom in search of some candles, leaving him to handle the bath.
You head back to the bathroom once you found the candles and a lighter and are surprised to hear music coming from inside. Ah, thatâs what I forgot. You nudge the door open with your shoulder, arms preoccupied with holding the candles and lighter.
âHey, you found the candles!â He cheers upon noticing the candles you hold in your arms.
âYep. The music is a nice touch by the way. I knew there was something I was forgetting.â You set all the candles and the lighter down on the counter for now.
âOh, the water looks so pretty!â You point out, looking over at the tub to check the progress. The bath bomb has turned the water a color that is akin to blue raspberry, kind of likeâ âHey, it matches your hair.â Your head whips to look at Chris, a smug smile spread across your face as you reach over to ruffle his hair.
âIt does, doesnât it?â He ducks away from your hand, his own reaching up to swat yours as he laughs.
âOkay, last thing we need is to put the candles in place.â You grab the candles you brought to place around the tub, while Chris places the other candles around the room, lighting them as he goes.
Chris grabs the end of his shirt to pull it over his head, but you stop him.
âI wanna do it.â You plead shyly.
âWhy?â He whines at your request, the tips of his ears starting to turn that familiar shade of red.
âJust because,â You pout at him, your hands behind your back as you teeter back and forth, balance shifting from the balls of your feet to your toes, âPlease.â You beg again, leaning in closer.
He raises his hands to hide his face, muttering something incomprehensible, and you canât help but laugh. You just love how you can still make him shy and flustered after being together for so long.
âIâm sorry, I didnât catch that.â You tease, hands lightly pulling at his wrists, trying to coax him into lowering them so you can hear him properly.
âOkay.â He concedes to you for the second time that night, reluctantly lowering his hands. His eyes dart away from you as he tries to control his embarrassment. âBut you have to let me help you too.â He bargains.
âThatâs fine by me.â Your hands fly to his shirt, and he raises his arms as you pull it up and over.
âYour turn~.â He sings, smiling cheekily at you as his hands find the end of your shirt, copying your previous actions on him.
You go back and forth until youâre both fully undressed. He reaches over to quickly flip the lights off, the candles now being the only source of light. He holds your hand to steady you as you step in and sit down. He then takes a seat on the other side of the tub, the two of you facing each other. He lights the last few candles that are placed around the bathtub and puts the lighter aside.
âThis is nice, right?â Your hands gesture around to the atmosphere youâve created.
âYeah, Iâm glad we did this.â He admits, a content smile on his face as he leans back against his side of the tub.
âWait, turn around for me. I want to wash your hair.â To which he complies with ease.
You use a small cup to wet his hair in preparation for the shampoo. He then kindly hands you the shampoo, squeezing a bit out onto your hand before returning it to its usual spot. You gently massage his scalp, wanting to make this a pleasant and relaxing experience for him. The way heâs tilting his head back into your touch and letting out small noises of content has you feeling like youâre on the right track. You grab the cup again to rinse the shampoo out, fingers gently combing through his hair as the water cascades down from the cup and onto his head. You then grab the washcloth he prepared, dunking it in the water. He once again helps you out by squeezing some body wash onto the cloth. You then proceed to gently scrub him clean, and he moves the way you request of him so you can reach the places you need. You rinse him off, placing soft kisses everywhere you can reach once the soap is all rinsed off. You continue to kiss his back and shoulders as you massage him a bit, hoping to relax him further. He doesnât voice it in the moment, but all he can think about is how loved he feels right now.
You finally let him turn around to face you once again. As soon as he turns around, a certain song starts playing through the speaker he set up on the counter.
âIs thatâŚ?â You trail off, listening closer to the intro of the song.
âOur song? Why, yes, it is.â He confirms. Tenerife Sea, right.
âSo in loveâ the song repeats, and you feel the rush of adoration, your heart swelling with love as you admire his face. He looks so beautiful; his profile being lit up by the warm glow of the candlelight. Heâs had his back turned to you for most of the time youâve spent in the bath, so this is the first chance youâve gotten to really take in his beauty in this light. The urge to kiss him overtakes you and you donât resist. Your hands come up and out of the water to rest on his cheeks as you pull him in for a passionate kiss, which he returns. You both couldnât help but smile, feeling so content. When you both pull away, he opens his arms to you, inviting you in. You turn around and lay back against his chest, his strong arms coming to wrap around you.
âI love you.â He murmurs sleepily in your ear, squeezing you a bit tighter as he speaks. He then closes his eyes, a happy smile adorning his face as he rests his head on your shoulder.
And if he fell asleep this time, right here on your shoulder, with the music softly playing in the background and the candlelight flickering softly, you wouldnât even mind.

Your phone rings and you groan, answering it reluctantly.
"Where are you? You were supposed to be here five minutes ago." Chaeyoung's voice meets your ear without a proper greeting.
âIâm in the cab. I promise Iâll be there soon.â You say, eyes watching out the window, waiting for the diner to come into view.
âOkay, well, theyâre about to seat me. I guess Iâll see you at the table.â She updates you on what youâre currently missing.
âOkay, see you soon. Bye.â
âBye.â She signs off.
A few minutes later, youâre stepping out of the cab and entering the very colorful diner.
âHi, table for one?â The handsome server at the front desk asks. You note his purple hair. Well, this is a fun place, you canât help but think.
âActually, Iâm meeting a friend. She should already be seated.â You politely inform him.
âAh, yes, follow me.â He guides you to where Chaeyoung has already been seated.
âTook you long enough.â She jokingly remarks.
âOh, give it up, itâs not my fault there was a bit of traffic.â You wave a hand at her.
âTrafficâŚright.â She drags out, unconvinced.
âThere was!â You defend. A third voice interrupts before Chaeyoung can respond.
âHello, my name is Jeongin, and I will be your server for today.â He recites the usual greeting.
You look up to return the greeting and see a boy, taking note of his appearance: early 20s, black hair, captivating smile. His uniform is rather interesting. Heâs wearing a navy blue, long sleeve shirt with bright yellow stripes and a white collar, over a white button up with a plaid, tan ascot tied around his neck. The brown newspaper boy hat perched backwards upon his head matches his long, brown apron, which covers most of his plain, black pants. He finished the look off with a pair of black converse, and you canât help but find it all quite charming.
Something weird stirs inside of you when his eyes meet yours. It feels like time stops, the noise from those around you fades, and you feel yourself getting lost in those deep brown eyes. The two of you stare at each other for nearly a minute before Chaeyoung clears her throat. You suddenly shiver, gaze reverting to the table. Your hands rub away the goosebumps that have arisen on your arms.
âSorry about that,â He stutters out a nervous, apology for staring, and proceeds to drop the menus in his hand. He throws his hands up as if to say âseriouslyâ, before swiftly bending down to pick them back up and handing them to the two of you.
âUhâŚand that.â He winces. âIâm new here if you couldnât tell.â He explains. You give him a nod and a small smile in sympathetic understanding. You almost think he blushed at that, but you brush it off.
âAnyways, what can I get you two to drink?â He raises a hand to readjust his hat, trying to get back on track. You both take a quick look at the beverage section on your respective menus, ordering your usuals.
âOkay, Iâll give you some time to look over the food while Iâm getting your drinks.â He says more to you, sending another smile your way before walking away from the table. You both watch him walk away. Chaeyoung immediately turns around when heâs out of sight and catches you still watching the spot he disappeared to.
âOkay, what was that?â Chaeyoung grins at you.
âWhat was what? Heâs just a bit clumsy.â You defend him, playing coy, but you know thatâs not what she meant.
âYou know thatâs not what I meant.â She gives you a look before continuing, âIt wasnât just you; you know? He stared back at you for just as long.â
âHe did not, and we were not staring at each other, okay?â You pause briefly, wracking your brain for an excuse, âI was just trying to remember what he looks like so I could call to him if we need him.â
âSure, sure.â She lets it go, for now.
âAlright, here are your drinks.â Jeongin sets the drinks on the table, along with two straws. He nearly knocked your drink over when he went to set Chaeyoungâs down, but you just found it cute.
âAre you two ready to order?â He pulls a pen and notepad from his apron.
Neither of you spent much time actually looking at the menu, more engrossed in your conversation than what the diner has to offer.
âI can give you some more time?â He offers after noticing the silence from you both.
âActually, weâve never been here before. Is there anything you would recommend?â You speak up, eyes searching for his only to find them already on you.
âIâm still learning the menu myself, may I?â He asks, gesturing towards your menu.
âOh, yeah, go ahead.â You lay it flat on the table, turning it in his direction. He bends down and his proximity has you holding your breath. You admire his side profile as his eyes scan the menu.
âI really like hash browns. So, if I were you, Iâd get any meal that comes with it.â He turns his head, and your eyes widen a bit in surprise, his own doing the same. He is really close. Like, you could kiss him if you wanted to, close. You feel your face warm.
He straightens back up instantly, clearing his throat. You peek at his face and swear heâs blushing again.
Itâs probably just because heâs moving all over this diner and surrounded by steaming hot food. You tell yourself, brushing it off once again.
âThat sounds good. Just give each of us one of the platters that come with hash browns.â Chaeyoung nods at him. He scribbles down the order and places his pen and notepad back into his pocket.
âOkay, I will return with your food momentarily.â He glances at Chaeyoung before his eyes look back over to you. She hands him her menu, but when he goes to grab yours, his hand brushes over your own. You giggle and he fights a grin. The smile wins and it remains on his face as he gives a final nod. He walks backwards for a few steps, eyes still on you, before turning to face the right way.
âHe totally likes you. He keeps smiling around you, and I think I even saw him blush.â Chaeyoung remarks as soon as heâs out of earshot, pulling her straw out of the wrapper and taking a sip.
âNo.â You shake your head, taking a sip of your own drink. âHeâs just being friendly. He smiles at you too.â
âPlease, heâs barely acknowledging me. He certainly doesnât turn red when he does look at me.â She counters, rolling her eyes playfully.
âItâs warm in here. Heâs probably just flushed because of the warmth.â You shrug.
âDonât act like you donât like him too. Your pupils are practically turning into hearts when you look at him.â She teases, reaching out to swat your arm.
âYouâre ridiculous, you know that?â You cross your arms, shaking your head again as you look around the diner, but you canât fight the smile her antics inspire.
You happen to look in Jeonginâs direction. Heâs supposed to be taking orders from the family seated in front of him, but you see that heâs already looking at you. He ducks, looking back to his notepad when he realizes you caught him staring. Maybe Chaeyoung is right.
âAlright, here is your food. Sorry about your wait.â Jeongin apologizes as he places your food on the table.
âThank you.â You smile at him and grab your utensils, preparing to dig in.
âLet me know if you need anything else. Iâll be around. Enjoy your meal.â He smiles back. âOh, and please, enjoy your meal.â He adds, before walking away.
âDidnât even look at me.â Chaeyoung points out, raising her spoon in the air. You just smile to yourself, beginning to feel more confident he really is into you.
The two of you enjoyed your meal, finally moving onto other topics besides whatever is going on between you and Jeongin. He continuously checked on your table, making sure everything tasted good and getting you both anything you needed. Even when he was away from your table, you couldnât help but notice all the times he seemed to be looking at you instead.
He returns when youâre both finishing up, bringing the bill, and collecting your dishes.
âSo, how was it?â He inquires, looking to you.
âIt was really good. Thank you for the recommendation.â You thank him, giving him that same warm smile youâve been giving him all night, which he continues to return.
âGlad I could be of service.â He laughs, hand flying to the back of his neck. âIâll just get these out of your way now.â He adds, referring to your plates.
When he goes to grab your dishes, he accidentally drops one plate on top of the other a bit too harshly, the utensils on top clanging together.
âSorry.â He apologizes, wincing at the sound. You giggle at him, still finding his actions endearing.
Your hands brushed for the second time that day when you hand him the bill back. You swear he let his linger for a moment this time. You could feel the cool metal of the rings he wore. He looks down with that familiar smile on his face, shaking his head before retracting his hand in favor of placing it on his face to hide it briefly, before proceeding to walk away.
With the table cleared, he bids you both a good day. Then, heâs off to return the dishes to the kitchen. When heâs out of earshot, Chaeyoung leans across the table towards you.
âOkay, hereâs the plan. Iâm going to wait for you outside, while you stay here to see what happens.â Chaeyoung explains lowly.
âWhat? You are not leaving me alone in here.â You shoot her a look of warning, voice coming out in a yelled whisper.
âItâs only for a few extra minutes. Just give him some time to make a move if he wants to make one, alright?â She pleads.
âIf he doesnât come back, Iâm going to look like such an idiot.â You groan, wiping a hand over your face.
âYeah, and if he does, you can thank me by letting me help plan the wedding.â She grins cheekily.
âThat was already the plan.â You remind her, âIf I ever decide to get married, that is.â You add.
âI know. Meet me outside when youâre done.â She sends you one last self-satisfied smirk and sheâs off.
You watch her walk out, and the awkwardness you feel sets in immediately. Your eyes scan the diner, but Jeongin is nowhere in sight. You pull out your phone in an attempt to look busy.
You wait there at the table, alone, for a few minutes, and in those few minutes, nothing happens, other than your confidence waning. Chaeyoungâs already texting you, looking for updates.
Youâre beginning to think that maybe you both got it wrong. Maybe he really was just being friendly. It is part of his job, you suppose. You were really trying not to turn nothing into something, but you had started to feel like there was something there.
You gather your things, reluctantly standing up to leave. Your eyes catch the sign for the bathroom, and you decide you might as well use it before you go. You check your appearance in the mirror just in case there was some chance you would see Jeongin again before you leave. Still holding onto some kind of hope.
When you come back out of the bathroom, you see that Jeongin is now manning the front desk rather than taking orders, which means you must walk past him if you want to leave. Great.
As you get closer to the front desk, your nerves settle in, because now youâre contemplating whether you should just be the one to make the first move. Youâre still figuring out how you want to approach this when he beats you to it.
âHey wait!â Jeongin suddenly calls out to you, âHere.â His outstretched hand holds your credit card.
âOh my God, thank you. Donât want to forget that.â You stumble nervously, taking the card from him and pocketing it. Your head was so wrapped up in thoughts of him you almost made a terrible mistake.
âYeah, sorry. I swear I wasnât trying to like, steal it. I took the dishes back to the kitchen, then I came over here to scan your card, but the machine was malfunctioning. I got it, though. When I looked over, your table was empty, so I assumed you both left.â He awkwardly apologizes.
âNo, no, of course you werenât.â You reassure him. Silence settles between the two of you as you try to muster up the courage to make a move.
âSo,â You start awkwardly, âI was wondering if I could maybe get your number?â You rush out.
âReally? I mean, yeah, I actually wanted to ask you for yours.â He says in surprise, hand coming up to touch his face again.
âGuess I beat you to it.â You joke and he laughs. He pulls his phone out, which prompts you to pull out yours. You trade phones, each creating a contact for the other. You wish each other a good day once again and you leave him to finish his shift.
Your heartbeat is still pounding in your chest and ears as you walk out the door, a sigh of relief leaving you. You stop to cheer a few steps away from the door, hoping he wasnât still watching. Your smile is so wide itâs starting to hurt a bit.
âSo, howâd it go?â Chaeyoung asks, but the grin youâre sporting tells her all she needs to know.
Your phone pinging stops you from responding, instead choosing to look at the text you just received. That also tells her all she needs to know. The intense grin remains on your face as you read it over.
Jeongin đŚ: Hey, itâs Jeongin (from the diner haha). I really want to take you out sometime. Want to see a movie this weekend?
You grin at the cute emoji he chose for himself, finding it fitting somehow, before you type back a reply, accepting his offer.

A few minutes later, youâre stepping out of the cab. You glance up briefly to check the name, making sure you're at the right place. 'The Oddinary Diner' is clearly written on a sign out front. You proceed to enter the very colorful diner after confirming you're in the right spot.
âHi, table for one?â The handsome server at the front desk asks. You note his purple hair. Well, this is a fun place. Certainly living up to its name. You canât help but think.
âActually, Iâm meeting a friend.
