Today in 1876, the Maryland State Normal School moved into the first building constructed for it. It sat on the corner of Lafayette and Carrollton Avenues, across from Lafayette Park in West Baltimore.

On this day in 1977, Hawkins Hall was dedicated to the late Towson President, Earle T. Hawkins. In this photo, left to right, are: Charles Haslup, music professor and Assistant to three Towson Presidents; Thomas G. Pullen, who served as the State Superintendent of Schools for Maryland from 1942 until 1964; Joan Briskin who served as Assistant to the President; and Towson State University President, James. L. Fisher. Fisher’s signature at the top of this photo congratulates Haslup on the event itself.
