Our Daynight Week ended yesterday and we wanted to thank everyone who participated. It was an amazing week and we were quite surprised actually lol, we had a lot of interaction even though Daynight came up a few months ago, almost 120 posts across all networks so... Thank y'all, we can't wait to see how it goes next year ❤️
On this final day of @daynightweek I would like to announce the title of my current project, a feature-length DayNight fic taking place immediately after the events of House of Sky and Breath. It is with great excitement (and not a small amount of anxiety) that I introduce to you:
Ruhn Danaan, crown prince of the Valbaran fae, has no idea how long he’s been in this cell. Days? Weeks? All he knows is desperate hope that his sister is alive and gathering the armies of Hel to come to the aid of Midgard. He doesn’t expect to live long enough to see it, and he doesn’t have any way to know if Bryce even made it, but buried deep in the well of his soul - through the Starborn light and shadows that bind them - is the unshakeable feeling that she still lives. And that is enough. That hope sustains him through the countless hours that he has endured with the Hind and the Hammer.
He had been a reckless fool, hoping to rescue the agent of fire from the Eternal City. Never imagining that it was one of Sandriel’s unholy triarii, the spy breaker for the Asteri themselves, that had weaseled her way into his stupid fucking heart.
He will not lose sight of her true identity again, no matter how many times she pounds on the walls he’s built to shield his mind. No matter how desperately she pleads.
Lidia Cervos has spent the weeks since Ruhn’s capture and Bryce’s disappearance piecing herself back together. With the grim understanding that the Valbaran prince will never see her as anything other than a monster - which she is - she turns her focus to one purpose: keeping Ruhn alive.
She continues living her double life in the company of the sadistic angel that she can’t escape, breaking off more pieces of her soul than she realized she still possessed to distract Pollux whenever she can. And to find a way to get Ruhn Danaan and Hunt Athalar away from the Asteri and back to the relative safety of the rebellion’s underground.
Never again will she allow herself to forget who she is. She is the Hind - a beast of teeth and claws, soaked in the blood of innocents - and that is all she will ever be. If she must use that grisly reputation to get the answers she needs, to save the people who deserve to see the world she’s spent half her life fighting for, then she will do just that.
But the gods don’t care if he’s a frat boy and she’s a demon. They had been linked since the very first time they met on that bridge. And on their way to saving the world, they must first save each other.
Some notes about Verzavar Haz:
1. This fic is IN PROGRESS. It is not yet complete, and does not have a completion date as of yet.
2. When it is complete, updates will be posted daily.
3. This fic is currently outlined at 26 chapters including an epilogue. This can always change, but I try to stick to my outline as much as possible.
4. This fic is dark, and includes depictions of interrogation, violence, and sexual assault. Please heed the trigger warnings when updates are posted.
I am so excited about this fic, and I just request your patience as I work through writing! I’ll start posting teasers now I that I’m deep into the writing process, and I am always willing to answer any questions you have about the story, my process, or even how the heck I came up with this crazy title.

The final chapter of The Outlaws of Valbara, an AU Robin Hood inspired DayNight tale is posted. You can read it on AO3.
Pollux announces an archery tournament, that is without a doubt a trap. But Ruhn still plans on entering. And Day's secret identity is finally revealed.

It was Hunt who brought back news of the trap. Well, tournament. But the tournament was undoubtedly a trap. Why else would Pollux announce an archery tournament, of all things, with the promise of a hefty purse to the victor? It was his way of identifying the hooded archer who wounded him with an impossible shot. The band of outlaws all knew what prize the winner would really receive: a stay in the Legion’s dungeon. But that didn’t stop them from considering how Ruhn might be able to both win the competition and escape Pollux’s clutches. It was Declan, their quiet mastermind, who took the time to carefully refine their crazed ideas (well Flynn’s crazed ideas, Hunt and Bryce at least have level heads for planning) into a foolproof plan.

This story combines a few prompts: Spy Story, Alternate Universe, Hopes & Theories, and Free Day.
The Outlaws of Valbara is an AU Robin Hood tale. You can find Chapter 3 on AO3.
Ruhn and Day hatch a plan to steal information during the Legion's masked ball. He asks to see here there, without their masks. They discuss their feelings for one another, and it leads to something.

If you have been reading, please note I changed the rating on the story, since Chapter 3 has a few NSFW parts.
I should really call this chapter 'oops' as in: -oops, I accidently doubled the word count for the entire fic in one chapter, and -oops, I only meant for them to kiss but suddenly I was writing smut, and -oops, now there are two smut scenes in this chapter.
All my 'oops' moments aside, I hope you enjoy the chapter.
Here is a short teaser:
“We should meet at the ball. Someplace that I can safely see you, and you can see me.”
“I…I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Why not? I want to see you. The real you. And I want to do it far away from this bridge and the moonlight. I want to see you in the light of day.”
Day hesitates. “What if you don’t like what you see?”
“How could I not? Day, my darling, you have bewitched me.” He leans in to kiss her, but she pulls away.
“You speak like a besotted fool.”
“I am a besotted fool. Day, you don’t know how much I want to take off these masks and really meet you. Maybe I should do it right now –“
“No!” Day’s hands fly to his mask, to stop him from revealing his face to her. “Not yet. Can we not be Day and Night for just a little while longer?
“Tell me you’ll meet me at the ball. Tell me I can see you without the mask.”
“How?” Her voice trembles, betraying her nerves.
“Sneak away at midnight. Meet me by the pond.”
“Midnight?” She laughs. “What happened to seeing me in the light of day?”
“With you around, even my darkest nights are as bright as day.”
“Such poetry. Speak plain for once.”
“You want plain? Day, I love you.”
“You should not. My fate is bound to another.”
“No, you fate is bound to mine.” Ruhn dips his head down to capture her lips, and, finally, she does not stop him.

DayNight Week Day 6: Theories and Hopes
So this isn’t exactly a cheerful theory but it stems from optimism…
I think Ruhn may continue to act repulsed and disturbed by Lidia in order to help protect her. He’ll know if they realize how much he cares about Lidia, they’ll only use that information to torment and torture them even more. Any amount of concern or love they show for each other will only be used against them. I hope that no matter what they endure, they find each other again.

MAJOR CC2 SPOILERS
Imagine Ruhn in the dungeons of the asteri. He hears the heavy footsteps of Pollux come to torture him again. He’s done everything that Ruhn can imagine, but he still hasn’t talked.
That is until it’s not just Pollux that shows up, but Lidia too. Lidia being dragged behind Pollux, hands chained together and body covered with blood and bruises. Her secrets have been discovered.
And after hearing her screams, Ruhn breaks.

Chapter 2 of the Robin Hood inspired AU DayNight story, The Outlaws of Valbara, is posted on AO3.
Ruhn and his merry band of outlaws attack the supply train, but they run into a complication when Flynn inspects the last wagon in the form of Lady Lidia, and her harpy.

Lady Lidia Cervos is to wed Pollux Antonius on the coming Solstice. She is beautiful, cold, and nearly as cruel as her intended. Perhaps even more so. The Asteri family prizes her calculating intelligence and utter ruthlessness. She scans the outlaws before her gaze rests on Ruhn. Lady Lidia seems to have identified him as the leader. Casually, Ruhn reaches back for an arrow. He notches it on the string, but leaves it pointing at the ground. For now. One sudden movement, and he won’t hesitate to put the arrow through her heart, lady on not.

Ruhn Danaan's distant cousin, Cormac Donnall, has been an unwelcome guest at his manor these last few weeks. Presumably here to secure an alliance between their two families by wedding his half-sister Bryce, Cormac had caused nothing but trouble from Ruhn since his arrival a fortnight ago. Their father had agreed to the betrothal, even though Bryce was handfast to Orion Athalar, better known to all as Hunt. With the villa in an uproar, Ruhn has retreated to his manor home, but his cousin followed. Cormac then revealed the real reason he had come to Lunathion. And it wasn’t to wed Bryce. He is working against the Asteri, the ruling family of Midgard. His assignment for the rebel group Ophion has brought him from the Isle of Avallen to the Valbaran continent. Cormac has been trying to convince Ruhn and his friends to join the cause even since.
When Cormac asks Ruhn to retrieve a message from Agent Daybright, Ruhn finds himself drawn to the mysterious spy. Will they work together against the Asteri and Pollux Antonius, the local governor, better known as 'The Hammer', to help those who are being overtaxed?

Set against the backdrop of the Forest Witch story Day tells Night to help him sleep, we find the Hind at the end of a session with Ruhn. But we learn, it doesn't matter who entered his cell, but who leaves it.

Set against the backdrop of the Forest Witch story Day tells Night to help him sleep, we find Ruhn confined to a cell in the Asteri dungeons being visited by the Hind. She is there to break him.

Here is a teaser for Chapter 1:
The Hind slides coolly into his cell. Beautiful and deadly, she knows how to carry herself. Knows how to use her body to her advantage. Seductively lethal, the Hind breaks rebels with a smile. Ruhn knew she was here to break him.
They sent the Hind in here every other day or so to try again, but she hadn’t succeeded yet. These visits are tests. The Asteri are playing with him. To see how far they can push him, how long it will take him to break, and what will ultimately topple him. They find it fun: it’s a game, it’s a lark. The Starborn Prince exists for their amusement.
Although each visit starts the same way, he’s still unprepared for that voice. The Hind’s voice. Ruhn tries not to finch, not to let anything show. But that voice. It’s wrong. So very, very wrong.
