Grabbing the heel or "bruising the heel" signifies you are trying to interfere with their progress or slow them down enough to take their place.
I don't feel like I'm grabbing the heel of anyone, but do I also allow people to grab my heel to slow my progress in Jesus... That's a question to ask.

Have you ever had someone tell you that you don’t know how to say “no” ?
No means - a denial or refusal
BUT the dictionary also says “ a negative used to express dissent, denial, or refusal, as in response to a question or request ” ... I thought about that second definition and saying “no” is not a negative thing. Sometimes, when you say “yes” too much, you’re robbing people of their struggle. You’re not giving them a chance to face life, fall, but learn how to get back up. If I always say “Yes you can borrow money”, “Yes I will come save you”, “Yes I will do that for you”, yes yes yes yes yes ... When do they learn ? When will they learn that because they can’t borrow money, they need to budget better ? Or they don’t need to be saved if they don’t put themselves in different positions. When are they going to realize that part of growing up is learning how to do it themselves ? I just realize that I say “YES” waaaaaaaaaaay too much.

Independence ...
Last night, I was cruising in my car. Just riding along, thinking about this part of my life and what matters. I started thinking about love.
Love - unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another: as the fatherly concern of God for humankind
To be in love, to want to be loved, to have love are all things that I am really starting to want. When I was younger, I knew this really great guy. I met him in 7th grade, because he had a crush on me. At the time my dad would have killed me if I said I wanted to have a boyfriend, but what dad wouldn’t freak out ? So I told him we could be friends. From 7th grade on we stayed by each others side. We e-mailed, instant messaged, Facebooked and Myspaced (you can see how long ago that was). Time went by and we experienced everything together. I saw him through his hurt, his happiness, his disappointment, his fear, and anything else you could ever name. Then we graduated high school and decided to try again. He told me he still liked me the same way he did when we were in 7th grade. So we dated and got into a relationship. Then one day I hurt him, really bad. Things took a turn for the worst and got ugly. The rest is history .... but that relationship was salvaged in my heart. I lock it away, but sometimes it escapes. Its like a ghost that hasn’t passed on to the after world.
Last night I was talking to my friend and I thought about my independence as a woman.
Independence - not requiring or relying on something or someone else: not contingent
People call me independent all the time. But I sat and wondered why ? I am independent because life made me, not necessarily because I chose to be. I am also independent because I’m afraid that someone will hurt me the same way I hurt him. So I prepare myself to not really be in a relationship, which isn’t healthy. If I am completely honest with myself, dependence means that I am making myself vulnerable, and I don’t want to be vulnerable to someone else. Or, I thought. I am starting to miss that because with that dependence, I learn to lean on them for understanding, for love, for financial support, emotional support, and everything else under the sun. I get tired of doing that myself, cause it becomes a bit much sometimes...
Know: to apprehend clearly and with certainty:
A huge part of my cleanse has been learning about relationships. Through learning about that, I have began to learn about myself. There are things that I think I know, but I really don’t. Or things that I know I should be doing, but don’t actually practice it enough to really KNOW what I’m doing.

One of the things, I have found, that keeps my mind sane, is listening to worship music ALL the time.
I was reading the bible the other day, and I won’t lie, I was tired. If I read and pray, I usually do that early in the morning, before I do anything else. I didn’t go to bed early, like I usually do. I stopped reading for a second and just sat there, thinking about how much you actually have to pursue Jesus to really get on that spiritual level that you want. No matter if you’re tired, hurt, upset, or anything else. You have to be consistent through it all… Then I remembered how people always call us the “Bride of Jesus”, basically saying we are in a marriage with Him.
Marriage: an intimate or close union
If you’re married, you know it’s not easy. You have to work at it every day, whether you’re physically tired or mentally tired. I’ve never been married but I see how hard it is, but at the same time rewarding to know you’ve found your partner in crime, your ride or die, your best friend, and the one who is willing to stick it out with you until the end. You have to renew your love to them every day, trust them with your whole heart, keep open communication, accept them for how they are now, and what they are going to be in the future. It is an everlasting convenient made between two people to love each other.
Love: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does
not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Then it dawned on me .. My relationship with Jesus is like a marriage. Constantly wanting to love each other, be with each other, Him being my best friend, accepting me for how I am now, but loving me for how He knows I will be in the future. No matter how tired I am, or how tired He is of my sin, we continue to pursue each other... That Makes me feel good.
Eat.Pray.Fight.
In The Beginning ...
This may be kinda weird to some people, and it may not be to others, but I have decided to go on this “self cleanse”. I read all the time how people take the time to really explore themselves, but I truly believe it was something that needed to be done. I have been working on my relationship with Jesus and I was talking to Him one day and He laid it on my heart to go #365Days without a relationship and just focus on me and Him. That’s all the relationship I need right now. Well here goes 365 days of cleansing...
I am in my mid twenties (wow I feel old haha) and I have just been living life like the next person. I am christian, I have some dreams and goals that I have been kind of working towards, but not really. I guess you could say I have just been living life “just enough” for a while. I live at home, slowly saving to get my own place, but its like you just don't get paid enough to really live comfortably. I’m a youth leader for a church that I have been going to my whole life. I want to give back to my community, one option being through church. I have traveled a little bit and plan to travel a ton more.
Well, there are a ton more things I can say, but you will learn about me more through these 365 days.
