f1a has served a great purpose. we have seen so many deserving women get a spotlight on them. they finally have a way to shine in their own light (not that they should HAVE to do this but unfortunately it was needed). We have now seen a uprising of young girls getting into motorsports, wanting to drive, wanting to become engineers, wanting to be mechanics and a multitude of other positions.
unfortunately, f1a can only go so far to promote these girls careers. teams and brands will sponsor these girls as they go through f1a but as soon as they complete their two years there or win the championship, they are thrown away and dropped by these teams. they're careers are left to drown and they have no support going on.
yes, we have f1a. that is a huge step in the right direction. but we need these teams to be held more accountable and still let these girls go on past f1a with the equal opportunities of their male counterparts.
we don't just want an all women junior series. we want to see women in the top of their sport. we want to see them get to places they have not been allowed to go in. we want to see them make it to f1 (of wtv other category they chose for that matter. whether it be imsa, wec, motogp, indycar, etc..)
so as a message to all of these teams: give these women, these professional athletes who have given up so much and have had to work even harder, who have the same abilities and ambitions as they men, an opportunity. give them a chance. and no not just one lousy chance. a good full on chance. let her succeed. let her win. let her inspire all the young and old women watching them do all of this.
