okay no but the actual problem with tim and damian's (preboot) relationship is that, at least from damian's perspective, you must treat him as a traumatized ten year old, because that is literally what he is -- basically everything he does in his early appearances, outbursts, hostility, throwing food against the wall, sabotaging tim's stuff, etc. is well within the realm of normal behavior for a child his age, coming out of an abusive household and experiencing adjustment issues, and treating him otherwise is really just perpetuating the form of his abuse --

-- except that, unlike most ten year olds, damian is a deadly assassin capable of taking out grown men several times his age, which means that his outbursts / boundary-testing has a much, much larger footprint, which in turn means that from an outside perspective, treating damian exactly like you would treat any other traumatized ten year old is just gonna end with tim pushed off an animatronic dinosaur.
