I’m in love 😍

A smile fluttered onto her features as she heard the deep laugh, something that her ears came used to hearing, used to enjoying the more and more it was given. Sharp eyebrows stayed slightly raised on her forehead as she waited for an answer, only causing her shoulders to fall in a fake disappointment. “Rude,” she stated before tilting her head to the side, soft curls moving around her shoulders. The question caused her smile to fall, she couldn’t remember the last time she was okay. “Better than yesterday. Slept for a bit, which is improvement.”
A soft smile took over his expression for a lasting moment, matching hers with just the right amount of tenderness and sincerity. To see her so exposed and welcoming to his concerns was more than satisfactory. It made him happy knowing she knew he cared, especially when he didn’t have to say it outright. Confrontation still proved to be a hurdle he could not overcome. Nothing less should’ve been expected from the shy boy, now man. His adult years did little to quell his understated personality. “Good, well, we should do something fun today. How about a movie? I know you like the action-y type stuff, and I... checked ahead.”

Looking up from the froyo she had been swirling around in the cup for the past few moments, she allowed a small smile to finally form on her lips; even the slight brush of his fingertips on her cheek caused the usually confident witch to have what many mundanes called butterflies. “Why thank you,” she said before letting her usual smirk rest upon her lips. “Think I have something right here, too. Wanna get that as well?” Lifting her manicured finger to her glossed lips.
The deep laugh vibrated through his chest easily and thoroughly. In her presence, especially as of late, he’d been comfortable enough to act less... ridiculously intimidated, although Tatum was an intimidating person at first glance. Her innuendos did enough to make him shift on his feet. “No,” the shake of his head was natural, a smile resting on his lips. “... are you alright today?” It was a loaded question which he cared more than enough to ask.
@tctumx
“—- yeah, you have a little something...” Danny hesitantly reached forward to smooth an eyelash off her cheek. “There.” An awkward smile came to rest on his features immediately thereafter, his hand falling back down to his side.
tetragibson:
“Seriously—the worst feeling in the world is when you see what you think is a chocolate chip cookie but it’s oatmeal raisin instead.”
“They aren’t that bad — they’re good, actually. Maybe you got them from a bad place?”
shiftingclem:
( “Nope. We’re talking about this – and I’ll take that as a no, because you’d have shut me down a lot faster if you had and it had gone horribly wrong.” ) Clem waggled the chip at him before biting it in half. ( “What are you waiting for?” )
“I’m not waiting for anything.” He only grumbled further, slowly moving to resemble the behavior of that of a child. He had such a hard time admitting things to the world — and to himself, it was his achilles heel. But this was his friend, one that’d been there since he was a kid, and she was only trying to help... in her strange, aggressively forward way. “I don’t know how to bring that topic up... it’d be awkward.”
haileexsparks:
“Is that a nice thing coming from your mouth?” Hailee tilted her chin up into the air with a proud smirk dancing on her lips, perhaps the first one since her parent’s funeral. She just needed to move forth, it was what had to happen after the kind of loss that she had gone through, “Because I can’t afford my parents house and they didn’t pay off their mortgage. And I am not made out of money – hence the move.”
He smiled to match his friend’s, though it had much more innocence to it than hers did. “I’m always nice.” He was speaking the truth. Danny made it a point to be polite whenever there was an opportunity, it’s how he was raised to be. “Hailee, if you ever need a place to stay my door is open. You know that, right?” It was hard to keep the conversation light and airy when such a situation weighed over their heads — hers more so than his. He wasn’t the one faced with moving anything at the moment.
finetaine:
Ethan crossed his arms over his chest, eyeing Danny as he struggled to find the words he wanted to say. The blonde was hardly amused by his response, and while there was a clear sense of innocence radiating off of him, Ethan couldn’t help but think he was being a smart ass. “Is that supposed to be a joke?” He asked, narrowing his eyes. “Define much for me.”
His throat was dry in an instant, was there really any way to go about saying it? The feeling — or rather, feelings, plural — that he had for Tatum, would he be able to admit that? He tried to keep a look of fear off his face, because Ethan Fontaine should not have felt like a threat. “No,” clearing his throat, he looked away for a moment to find his bearings. “No... she’s a good person. I... like her.”
finetaine:
Ethan didn’t know much about Danny, besides the fact that he was relatively quiet yet somehow struck up some sort of friendship with arguably his loudest sibling. He was slower than most, he made that apparent from the way he was struggling with his words, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t be up to something. “Unless you’ve been spending time with Savannah and Wisteria too, I was under the impression Tatum was the only option.”
He shifted on his feet uncomfortably. The other wasted no time, he got right to the point. The directness had to be a family trait, it wasn’t just Tatum that exuded the special kind of confidence, there was no other conclusion his mind could come to in the moment. Though he was put on the spot, Danny thought he should try his best as to not appear the most uncomfortable. Try to make a good impression and all. “No,” he spoke clearly this time, and shook his head slowly. “My intentions… I’m not trying to do — much.”
finetaine:
“Danny.” Ethan called out, quickly closing the space between him and the much taller male. “Just the man I was looking for. You’ve been spending quite a bit of time with my sister, more than usual. I don’t have much interest in beating around the bush, so I’ll get right to it, what are your intentions with her?”
The human staggered back slightly, the quick approach from the older man doing little less than frightening him. Like a mouse to an elephant. “Uh — hello, Ethan.” The broken sentence sounded from him. Danny could speak to a room of strangers just fine, it was one on one interactions that got the better of him. He’d only ever spoken to Ethan in passing, very few words exchanged between the two if any at all. “I’m not — um, Tatum?” He could have slapped a palm to his forehead, because who else would he have been referring to?

The ticking of the clock that was over the bar sounded loud in her head, despite being unable to actual hear it as the high subsided with the fries that were moving through her stomach in that moment. Thankful that it was Danny that was across from her in that moment, her face almost falling as all the realization came at once, the anxious state of mind racing as she thought of Wren and if he was alright or how the rest of her siblings were taking it late at night. The blasting music that surrounding them sounded silent, as she sat there, eyes completely focused on the hand that was handed out to her but her whole body unable to actually move as her mind took hold of her momentarily to remind her of the flames the engulfed both of her parents in front of her own very eyes as the flashing lights on the dance-floor began to switch between bright red and fire-y orange. Trembling back into her own body, Tatum finally stood up without taking hold of Danny’s hand at first, watching him throw the bills onto the table despite her earlier statement of paying for the food that she would order herself at the bar. “Danny —-,” she finally said loud enough for him to hear it in a faint whisper, allowing her hand to feel his physical contact as her hand fell down into his, fingers freezing from the immense amount of emotions that were rushing through her body at once as the sense of relief was thrown out the window without even one last joint in her pocket to make it stop for the night. “I can’t go home,” she admitted, allowing her glistened eyes to look up at him, almost begging him to agree to her terms. “Look —- I won’t try anything, okay? I’ll literally sit on the other end of the couch and —- and I’ll get Wren to pick me up when the bar closes or — I’ll cab. I won’t do anything, —- just please?” She begged, pressing her lips together tightly and hoping she wouldn’t need to pull the tears to show him how terrified she was to step a foot into the families house without her mind foggy or breath smelling of alcohol.
An automatic and oh so familiar presence of guilt flooded his mind. He felt like everything he did was enough to leave Tatum spiraling in a grieving state. He felt bad for feeling bad, because she was not a frail being. The assumption that she couldn’t take on the world by herself was proven wrong every single time she opened her mouth to demand something from another. He was proven wrong every time he ended up in her presence, not maliciously or out of poor intent, but simply because of how strong she was, and how strong he thought he was until encountering her. He’d never had to grieve, had never known a member of his biological family long enough to have a standing impression of them. Without knowing one’s true parents, how or why they gave they gave him up, there was no reason to feel one certain way or another about anything on the matter. His mouth hung open. His mother’s voice rang out in the back of his mind faintly, something about catching flies, something he would focus on if not for the one in front of him. Danny was trying to say something. Never was he afraid of what she might try, even the blonde had boundaries she stayed within for obvious reasons. If she really did like him, it was a big if— but if she really did, she wouldn’t want to make him uncomfortable more than necessary, even though it was quite the simple task. All of a sudden, rapidly, his hands moved up to fall on her shoulders, holding her at an arm’s length. He could hardly tell what type of expression was on his face, one that might be concerned or frightened for her most likely. It was her pleading with him, God, it put him on edge. Loathe was not a strong enough word to convey how he felt about Tatum being in a burdened state. He often felt the sorrow in the air. “You don’t—-” Shaking his head thrice, he pulled her into his body. An embrace of all things surrounded her. It was spontaneous, and certainly not a run of the mill thing he’d do. “You don’t have to go home.” And just like that he gave in. He was putty in her hands, malleable and very easily controlled. But only for her. More shakes of his head, that was all he was doing that night, or so it seemed. The same actions repeated over and over again in his usual rut of ordinary and more or less bland things— until his arms wrapped around the woman in a comforting act. His chin resting atop her head, eyebrows knit together as he stared at the wall in vain. He couldn’t say no, not when she was the way she was.
