Since I dedicated a blog to them now, I figured I ought to introduce my Pawn and his Arisen Arisen and his Pawn.

The Arisen: Zachariah
Height: 183
Age: 37
Vocation: Archer 🏹
Doesn't really remember anything from before being poisoned.
Has a strong sense of justice and an urge to aid people.
Wants to defeat the dragon to take his place as ruler of Vermund, then open the borders to invite pawns from Battahl to come to his kingdom where they will be valued and treated with the respect they deserve.
Hard shell, soft inside. Self-confident, blunt, brave and protective. Will call you out for acting stupid, but will also lift you up for trying your best.
He is glad that Zachariah is the helpful sort and aids people in need, for he thinks the strong ought to protect the weak.
Relationship
In combat, they know they can rely on each other. Wyd is at the front, and Zachariah makes sure to cover his back. Oft does his arrow strike a foe who's been charging at Wyd from the flank.
When engaging large foes, Wyd will scale them fearlessly, knowing that Zachariah is below to catch him should he be thrown off and he loves it.
Zachariah fell in love with Wyd during their journey, but never admitted it, because he did not want to take advantage of the power he held as the Arisen.
Wyd fell for Zachariah as he slowly gained his free will. At first it was appreciation, then it turned to affection, and then to more... of course he would never admit it.
Until the end.
So they spent their entire journey pining for each other without confessing.
In my head canon, Wyd retained his free will as the world reset, and they both retained at least some knowledge of the prior cycle. So when Zachariah summoned him for the second "first" time, they both confessed to each other and been a couple from then on. ❤️
More lore here.
My other Arisen-Pawn pair are a grizzled veteran called Bertrand, who really doesn't want to be here, and his pawn whom he simply calls 'Boy' because he doesn't know his name.
Their story.
---
And because I'm an altoholic, there's a third pair: Z. Drewger and Rukh. Drewger is a sorcerer and has always been looking for a way to prolong his own life. Becoming Arisen is actually a blessing to him, and he has no intention of killing the dragon.
So, I noticed that the pawns are immune to the godsway's influence after the guardian gigantus quest. (Before this, they can't move and hold their heads in pain when near a godsway.)
I'm taking that as a sign that bestowal of spirit has happened at this point, and their fledgling will is already blossoming.
That also explains why they can fight the false sovereign, despite him having a godsway on him.
(I assume the hired pawns are just immune for gameplay reasons, but I'm choosing to believe it as canon for the main pawn)
I like to imagine that, during their first cycle, after Zachariah and Wyd helped Wilhelmina, she thought she'd make that snack of an Arisen happy by offering him a night.
But he declines and asks if she would give Wyd a good time instead - with his consent of course.
Wyd is confused but agrees, only to then confess to Wilhelmina he likes the Arisen, so she shares a few wisdoms with him instead.
Meanwhile Zachariah is helping himself at home, wishing he'd be Wilhelmina right now; completely unaware that Wyd is pining just as much for him as he is for Wyd.
