L HAS TRIED TO STUDY EVERY INCH OF BEYOND. the keyword here is try, because there were only so many opportunities for L to observe and memorize what this body looks like bare and open. the elder is sure that beyond believes L is indifferent toward the fact —- while b doesn’t seem to have self esteem issues due to his burns, himself, L wouldn’t be surprised if b found it hard to believe that L was attracted to him physically. b seemed to be faintly surprised whenever it was revealed that L was attracted to him at all.

it didn’t come as a surprise to the former detective, who currently sits at the island countertop with a bowl of frosted mini wheats cradled to his chest. he’s mindlessly splashing milk over the soggy wheat cereal, watching beyond prepare his morning tea out of the corner of his eye.

his method is perverse —- invasive too, no doubt, but L felt that this was preferable to coming onto beyond whenever he felt the need to. black eyes following the narrow span of beyond’s wrists, dragging down his arm, the quiet strength of his shoulders and the knotted bun on top of his head —- oh, beyond’s eyes are meeting his, now. L blinks and turns his head fully to reveal a faint smile before stuffing a spoonful of cereal in his mouth.

❛ would you be a doll and feed anya, too? ❜ L asks, mouth full —- beyond has only just turned on the stove, and he nods, reaching toward the tall cabinet to retrieve a can of wet food. L’s eyes immediately drop, catching the moment where the fabric of b’s shirt lifts above his dark jeans —- revealing a slip of flesh, taut abdomen with scarring uneven and discolored. L blinks and begins to bite on his spoon, dark eyes also catching the dark hair on his counterpart’s abdomen —- thicker than his own pubic hair, L observes.

beyond closes the cabinet, and the elder stuffs another spoonful of soggy cereal in his mouth. chewing slowly, he watches as b stalks effortlessly to anya’s food bowl near the fridge, easily tearing open the can and bending over to shake the wet food into her dish.

his shift is lifting, again, and L wishes wholly that he had the gall to shuffle after beyond and tug at the fabric until it was discarded —- his features are unreadable despite the increasingly filthy notions, and beyond is standing upright again, looking toward his counterpart in a vaguely curious way.

beyond throws the can in the trash. L’s fingers grip at the sides of his bowl, teeth lightly chewing at his spoon.

it would be nice, L thinks, if you could fuck me into the countertop after you turn off the stove.

the thought makes his mouth burn, and the kettle begins to whistle. b turns off the stove, and L bites on his tongue, slurping the remainder of his milk from his cereal bowl and shaking off the strangely lustful feeling embedding itself in his belly.
