But that’s the whole argument, that men hate women, and men cannot experience sexism (see @celtyradfem ).
If this is the defacto case, what is the argument against it? There’s not a real argument that holds because we’ve said this is an effect unique to women, which men are immune to, which benefits men, which men have done for apparently all of recorded history.
If men are selfish, brutish, and callous in such a universal and intractable manner and have been, to the point where it’s literally impossible for sexism to exist against them, then why should men give a damn?
My position is that men and women together experience cultural pressures on them which inform how they act, which are themselves informed by their biology, the evolution of culture(s) and their interaction, and their upbringing in various measure. This includes sexual discrimination against and in favor of both men and women (sexism), which should be discussed and addressed not as a problem for women alone, but as a problem for humanity and our culture and it’s health and growth as a whole. But we cannot do that if the conversation is not even-handed and looks to examine masculinity and femininity on level but separate terms, weigh the good and the bad and work to reduce the latter and increase the former.
But if men are, as noted above and in many places abroad, systemic oppressors who cannot be the subject of sexism, why in the hell would such types give even half a damn about women in this regard?
And more importantly, how are you going to make it change? There is almost no physical or martial metric that women outpace men in on average, and men have literally nothing to gain by joining, based on these assertions.
Again, I’m running with how men have been explained in the above, not my experiences, which run counter to it. I’m asking, if everything above is true, then how in the name of the seven hells are a bunch of women going to make anything change and why should the men they describe give two shits?
