You had always been told that you lacked something. No not in the beauty or the brains department, you practically run those departments. Height. It was height that you lacked. You were convinced that God didn’t give you that because you would be unstoppable as you were now. You had honestly resembled a younger Isabela, both beautiful, sought after, and adored. You were calm, for the most part— collected, and always so ladylike so it was a wonder why you had fallen for the mischievous Camilo Madrigal. Though you were a bit short tempered. You could have had anyone as your beloved. And yet you gave the shapeshifter a chance.

Though now you were regretting ever giving Camilo Madrigal a chance.

Camilo Madrigal was many things. A shapeshifter, a prankster, a theatre boy, the love of your life, and a royal pain in the ass. Your eye twitched as he used your head as an armrest again as he ate his arepas.

“You’re brave, Madrigal. I'll give you that.” You grumbled up at him before Camilo smiled to himself before blinking and dramatically whipping his head around.

“What was that?!” He asked as he looked around, placing a hand on his brow as he acted as if he was looking for something from far away before he looked down at you and gasped again, holding onto his ruepa.

“Oh, it’s just you, chica.” He snorts, taking another bite out of his arepa as he tries not to laugh at his own joke.

“I thought for sure it was one of those pesky duendes again or at least one of Tio Bruno’s rats.”

And you swore you could punch that smug smirk off of his face as you trembled, rage burning inside of your form. Camilo’s smirk had only widened.

“Ah, mi vida, are you okay?” Blinking at the question you hadn’t expected, you gaze up at him. Was he done with his teasing? You sigh in relief, happy to be rid of the teasing before you leaned your head against his shoulder. “I’m okay, mi amor—“ And Camilo tried. Camilo tried to resist the urge to tease you. Camilo knew you had a breaking point but he was only human.

“Are you sure, my little chihuahua?” He had teased and you could feel your usually calm demeanor snap and you lunged at him. The sounds of screeches and squeals resonated Casita as you chased Camilo around.

“Chihuahua? Chihuahua?!” You bellowed as you chased after him.

“Ah, young love.” Felix Madrigal smiled as he watched you chase Camilo down, murderous intent in your eyes and Bruno’s spackle knife in your hands.

“Lo Siento, mi vida! Ah!” He dodged as you grabbed one of your slippers to throw a him and by god you had such an accurate throw that if he hadn’t ducked down at that moment you would’ve gotten him.

“Hold still, mi amor.” You say with a sickeningly sweet smile on your face. The boy paled as Casita had managed to ‘accidentally’ trip him up.

You groaned in your bed, twisting and turning, trying to find a position that’ll somehow make you feel relaxed enough to sleep. It was extremely funny the way that you were always yawning and how you had no energy but couldn’t manage to fall asleep at all.

You looked outside the window from your bed to see that it was still night, the moon shining bright. You cursed to yourself, wanting to do fun dates outside with your boyfriend, but because you were tired 24/7, you spent most of your days at home.

Camilo always visited you when you were too tired to move. You both would have deep conversations, he'll tell you about his day and rant about annoying things that get on his nerves. Sometimes he'll bring cards and board games to play. On some nights when you were lucky enough to get a thirty-minute nap, you usually hang out with Camilo in your house to do more activities like baking cookies. If you were feeling a bit more energetic, you both would walk around town, admire the scenery, and even run around until your energy was drained then you’ll have to spend the day in your house again (but this was an event that rarely happens so you keep it dear to your heart.)

You were so grateful that he understood your situation and still stuck with you but you didn't want to continue spending quality time with him just in your room. You want to spend more time with him outside, do some crazy things together like play pranks on his family and run away when they find out, explore the world together from morning until night.

Deep inside of your heart, you were scared. What if he gets bored one day and leaves you for someone way funner? Everyone knows that Camilo is an energetic boy so why would he want to spend his day with someone who can't even leave her house without feeling exhausted?

You know that thinking like this will do no good, that you shouldn't be having these thoughts. You know that Camilo loves you based on his effort and attention, but it was so hard to push these thoughts away at night, where you are alone and wide awake, not having anything to do and stuck with your own thoughts.

Your insecurities flood your head, your heart swelling as you think about how you’ll feel if Camilo, your sunshine, leaves you. You smack your head against your pillow as the pillow soaks your tears. You were about to wipe your snot with a tissue when suddenly there was a knocking sound on your window.

You snapped your head to look at the window with alert eyes, ready to smack the intruder with your tissue box when you realized that it was your amor crouching outside your window.

You rushed to the window, a smile immediately appearing on your face when you saw him. You opened the window a bit too strongly that it almost hit your walls.

“Woahhohoho, someone’s awfully excited to see me,” Camilo cheekily said, surprised by how strong you opened the window.

But his smile went away when he saw your red nose with snot drooping down, your puffy eyes with lingering tears. (He still found you so beautiful, even when you looked like that.)

“Mi princesa, why are you crying? What happened?” He used his sleeves to clean your snot which left you feeling embarrassed.

“Oh dios mio! You didn’t have to do that! Now your sleeves have my snot on it,” You half-screamed, slightly freaked out of the idea that he has your snot now.

“Please mi amor, I had worse stuff on my shirt, like Antonio’s vomit,” He shrugged.

“At least let me clean your sleeves,” You hurriedly took the tissue, wiping the wet spot on his sleeves. Camilo sits on the window, chuckling as he watches your eyebrows furrow.

'Seriously, I would do anything for this girl and she's already flustered at the fact that I cleaned a simple snot? She's so unbelievably adorable,' Camilo thought to himself.

"Anyways, why were you crying?" He asks as he lifts your chin with his finger.

"Nothing," You answered. Camilo gives you a suspicious look, one of his eyebrows arched.

"Really! It's nothing," You try to laugh it off, not daring to look him in the eyes but he softly pulls your face to look at him again.

"Nuh-uh, I know it's more than 'nothing'" He said, putting more tone on the last word.

"Urghhh how do you know me so well," You sulked, pouting your lips, "It's just something really stupid."

"Tell meeeee," He begged.

"It's just... I mean, why do you even like me? You're super energetic and I'm all just stuck in my room. You deserve someone who can go out on adventures with you," You rambled, letting out your feelings.

"Hey, hey... you know that that's not true, I feel peace in your presence when my life feels like a hectic mess. You're the one that loves me for me, and I love you for you. I wouldn't change a thing," He looked at you with eyes full of sincerity, stroking your hair behind your ear.

"I feel bad making you hang with me just in my room. I want to go to so many places with you, explore, have fun, without being exhausted," You feel the tears flowing again.

"Mi cielito, how about we try working on how to get you to rest first, m'kay? Then when you feel rested and bursting with energy, we can do everything you want! I'll be with you step by step," He pulls you into his chest.

"By the way, can you let me in? It's kinda freezing out here," He made an exaggerated 'brrrrrr'.

"Oops, my bad, please do come in, querido," You hold his hand to make sure he landed safely. There was one time he accidentally slipped and landed on his face and ever since then you hold his hand.

"Wow! You didn't slip, amazing job," You teased.

"Hey! That was a one-time thing and you know it," He exclaimed.

"Oh right, before I forgot, I brought you some tea!" He raised the bag in his hand.

"Mi madre said that it can help with insomnia," He pulled out a box of teabags.

"You go lay down on the bed okay? I'll brew you a warm cup of tea," He said.

You went to your bed, patiently waiting for him. He always brought small gifts whenever he visited, so you weren't surprised, but you always appreciated each and every single gift he got for you. It ranges from something simple as a flower to something extravagant as a handmade skirt full of details.

Soon, he entered the room with a cup of tea in his hand.

"I hope I made it just right," He said, his fingers fiddling with themselves as he watched you take a long sip.

"Wow Cami! This tastes so nice," You said, amazed. To be frank, Camilo wasn't the best at making food so you were a bit scared.

"Really? Let me try," He took a careful small sip from the tea in your hand, and his eyes turned wide, "Woah... it really does taste nice."

"Of course, I'm Camilo Madrigal after all!" He smirks proudly.

"Yes, my special chameleon," You smiled softly, taking more sips of the tea. Little did you know, his heart melted when he heard you say 'my special chameleon'.

'Oh dios mio, she said I'm hers!' He freaks out quietly.

"Hey, this tea might actually be working, I do feel a bit relaxed," You murmured, the warmth of the tea fills your body and the scent so pleasing to your nose.

Noticing that your boyfriend is just standing next to your bed, you scoot over, patting the space next to you.

"Come and sit here with me," You said, placing the tea on your bedside table.

"Say less, carino," He immediately takes up the empty space next to you, "Can we cuddle?"

"Mhmm" You hummed, already snuggling close to his chest.

You peacefully listen to the rhythm of his heart, his chest slightly going up and down, as he plays with your hair, twirling them in his fingers, while his other hand hugs you. You both stayed like this for a while, just enjoying each other's presence.

"You know, mi amor, you're not only the most beautiful and charming girl I ever saw, but you're also the most intelligent, wise, interesting, and loving girl in this whole world," He softly says.

You were about to reject what he said but before you even can get a word out, he peppers your face with kisses, and after each kiss, he'll give you a compliment.

One kiss on your forehead, "You're a one in a billion."

One kiss on your left cheek, "You're the reason why I look forward to another day."

One kiss on your right cheek, "You're amazingly breathtaking."

You were left stunned, your mind basically malfunctioning as your heart runs a thousand meters per second.

You covered your face with your hands to avoid him seeing your tomato face, as he laughs at your reaction.

"I love you so much mi vida," You whispered.

"I love you too, good night," Camilo whispered back.

You mumbled a good night back, going back to enjoying the warmth and comfort from the cuddle until eventually, you doze off.

Camilo smiled in relief when he saw you sleeping, carefully slipping out, and giving you one last kiss on the forehead.

Camilo hasn't seen you lately, and when he did, you had to do something like babysitting the neighbor's kid (which he volunteered to help but soon was called to help out his cousin with a task), sell fruits, clean the house, help prepare parties, and so on. You were busier than him and he's Camilo Madrigal, a member of the busiest family in Encanto! He knew that you were a hardworking and independent person, after all that was what made him adore you so much, but to the point where you had no free time at all? It was starting to worry him. Did his amor even eat at all today? Did you get enough rest? So many questions with little to no answer.

So he take it upon himself to make sure that you were alright. He decided that no matter what, he'll help you with your task, anything he can do so your burden will weigh less. If it's possible, he'll make you rest for once (he won't admit it but he's also itching to spend some quality time with you.)

He went straight to the market after Dolores told him that Y/N was there to help her aunt sell handcrafted goods. It didn't take him long to spot you as you were advertising the goods with such confidence that there was a whole crowd listening to your words.

"Not only that, but it's a wonderful gift for your wife!" You dramatically said, showing the crowd the item in your hand.

Soon, a long line of men queued to buy the item after what you had said. You smiled in relief, glad that your trick worked.

You sat down, taking a short break after all of that talking, to hydrate yourself. To your surprise, the love of your life appeared in front of you.

"Mi amor! You did so well before, you almost got me wanting to buy it for you," He smiled, taking you in a hug.

You hugged him back, missing his embrace and for some reason, you felt a bit dizzy, so you held onto him for some support.

"Thank you querido! What brings you here?" You looked up to him, still hugging him tightly.

"I haven't seen mi vida in a while since they were sooo busy, so I'll be helping them!" He smiled.

"Wow, lucky them for having such a wonderful boyfriend," You separated from him, having to go back to work, "Here, please carry some of these boxes to over there,"

"Aye aye captain!" He raised his hands to his forehead like a soldier then took the boxes from your hand to fulfill his duty.

You smiled at the playful action from him. He just always knows how to make your days feel less hard. You were about to get the next item to promote when suddenly your legs just gave up and your mind shut down in exhaustion. Before everything went black, your boyfriend's voice was heard screaming for you, filled with worry.

Camilo rushed to your frail body lying on the ground.

“M-mi vida, what’s wrong?” His voice shakes and his hands tremble over you. He was a mess at first, checking your forehead then flinched at how hot it was. You look so weak and in so much pain laying down there on the floor.

You worked so hard while suffering a fever this hot? Why did you push yourself to this extent?

‘How did I not notice that mi vida was in this much pain?” He hates himself for not being able to stop you from overworking.

He stopped himself from going into a deep hole of self-hatred and carried you bridal style. You were his main priority and he hurried off to Casita. He tried to run as fast he can, holding you tight in his arms so you won’t accidentally slip out.

He barges into the kitchen, hoping that his tia Julieta was there. Luckily, his tia was currently making her special arepas.

“Tia, please help! Y/N fainted!” He begged his tia, as tia Julieta gasped at the sight.

“Lay them down on the couch! I’ll be back soon,” Julieta said calmly.

Camilo softly lay you down on the couch, putting a pillow under your head. He looks at your pale face, how your lips slowly tremble, and your breathing messy. His heart aches at the sight of you being sick.

He pushes your hair out of your face since it was slightly drenched with your sweat, then holds your hand, never leaving your side.

Soon tia Julieta came back with towels and a bowl of cold water.

“Sobrino, make sure to change the towels every hour,” Tia Julieta said as she drenched the towel into the cold water, placing the wet towel on your hot forehead.

“Okay tia,” He said, “Will they be okay?”

“Don’t worry mi sobrino, they’ll wake up soon,” Julieta ruffled her nephew’s hair, smiling at how worried Camilo was over you.

“You must really love them, huh?” She asked.

“Of course, I love them with all of my heart,” He looks at you, rubbing your hand with his thumb.

Your head aches as you groan, stretching your body. You slowly opened your eyes not used to the bright light.

“Mi amor, are you awake?” Camilo hold your hand tightly.

“Yes querido, I am,” You slowly sat upright, your boyfriend's hand placed on your back to help you as he mutters a soft ‘careful’.

“How many hours was I knocked out for?” You asked, thinking about how many tasks you had missed.

“Around four hours and a half, why do you ask?” Camilo replied.

“FOUR HOURS AND A HALF? OH NO, THAT’S BAD I MISSED SO MUCH WORK, I HAVE TO GO BACK AND-“ You panicked, trying to get off the couch, but your head stings from the sudden movement.

You let out an ouch as Camilo nags you to stay still on the couch.

“Mi vida, why are you overworking yourself? Don’t you see that your body is exhausted?” His voice sounds desperate to make you stay and his eyes are so full of worry that your heart throbbed.

“Let me help you mi amor, it pains me to see you like this,” He softly caressed your cheeks, “Tell me what's going on in your life, all of the details."

"I'm so sorry that I made you worry carino," You said as you leaned into his hand that was caressing your cheeks.

"It's just that..." You bite your lips, thinking of a way to explain everything, "My Madre is sick and we can't afford the medicine for her."

"Why didn't you tell me? I would have helped you mi sol," Camilo looked you in the eye.

"I didn't want to bother you and I thought that I could do it all by myself but look at me now," You scoffed at yourself.

"You tried your best and it's good that you're independent but it's okay to ask someone else to help. I would drop anything to help you mi amor," He smiled at you and those words hit you hard. Tears pricking your eyes after hearing it from him.

You truly were lucky to have him.

Full of mixed emotions, Your body shakes as you remember how much pain your Madre had to suffer through. You sob into Camilo's shoulder, his hands stroking your back gently.

"There, there, mi vida, it'll all be okay," Camilo whispers to your ear, "I'll help you earn money and give you some of tia Julieta's arepa for your mom, okay?"

You weakly nodded yes, your voice gone from crying.

"Rest now mi cielto, I'll try to make you some soup," He kisses your forehead as you lay down to sleep with a small content smile.

You're so happy that you have your very own personal doctor.

It has just been a few days since you and your family moved into Encanto. Your previous home wasn’t the nicest and you had to survive off scraps to continue living in the house. Life was hard so your parents decided to have a fresh new start in the welcoming community of Encanto.

You had just finished unpacking the last box for your room (which didn’t have much) while your younger sibling played with their toys on the bed.

“Y/N! We’re going out for business. After you’re done, bring your sibling for a walk around the town okay? You have to explore Encanto!” Your mama shouted from the first floor, her voice loud enough for you to hear it loud and clear.

“Okay, Ma!” You replied back and soon heard the door shut.

Placing the last few items from the box to the table beside your bed, you feel a pulling tug on the bottom of your shirt.

“Come onnn, I wanna explore the town!” The five-year-old whines, trying to drag you with him.

“Gimme ten seconds, okay?” You pat your sibling’s head. After making sure all of the items have been placed properly, you take your bag and hold your sibling’s hand in yours.

You locked the wooden doors and off you went walking with an extremely excited kid. Your sibling has always been full of energy. They often reminded you of a golden retriever. You adored how they always find a way to be happy. They were the reason why you stayed strong during tough times.

“Y/N! Look at that bird! It’s so cool!” Your sibling pointed at a toucan, immediately letting go of your hand and chasing it through the town.

“H-hey! Wait for me!” Your pleads were ignored by the five-year-old. This was one of those times where you wished that he wasn’t full of energy 24/7. He loved animals so much that he would chase them down.

Usually, a teenager would be able to catch up with a five-year-old just fine, but in this case, your sibling just had to be abnormally energetic. (Totally not because you never exercised.)

The toucan flew down and landed on a boy's shoulder, but your sibling was moving so fast that they couldn't slow down in time, crashing into the poor boy that the toucan just landed on.

You tried your best to avoid falling down on the two kids, but you were never good at maneuvering and did a weird spin which made you crash into someone else instead. Realizing that the person you crashed to will soften your blow and instead receive all of the pain, your hands flew to the back of their head, trying to at least soften their fall as well.

"Oh dios mio! I'm so sorry," You tried to push yourself up from the person below you but your hands were squeezed between the back of their head and the pavement, your eyes still closed from the pain of the impact. After a while of trying to ease the pain away, you opened your eyes, only to see by far the most attractive guy you've ever seen in your entire life, staring at you back with wide eyes. (unfortunately for you, you had missed the small blush on his cheeks)

Shocked, you try pulling yourself away with more force, only for your hand to push his head to your forehead, causing both of you to groan loudly.

"Damn it, what the hell is wrong with me today, I am so sorry," You rubbed your forehead as you stood, feeling a bit wobbly.

"Are you okay?" You asked the boy in the yellow ruana.

"Well, I would be if you didn't smash my forehead with yours," He sarcastically joked but it seems that you didn't quite catch it.

"Oh no, does it hurt really badly?? I didn't know that my skull is that hard..." You babbled, brushing his curls away to see his forehead, and man, it was super red. Camilo stood there frozen, watching your every move as you observed his forehead, taken aback by your abrupt (and bold) move.

"Dios mio, it's red! We need ice or maybe frozen peas," You looked around to see if there were any stalls that were selling some only to realize that the two kids vanished in thin air.

"WHERE'S MY SIBLING?" You asked yourself with wide eyes. Camilo hearing your question, looked around, only to see that Antonio was missing as well!

"ANTONIO!" He looked around with eyes equally as wide as yours. His madre will flood the whole town if he can't find where that animal-loving boy went.

"Is your sibling gone as well?" You asked as you saw the panic in his face.

"Yeah... they might have gone somewhere together," He looked around, trying to find a glimpse of his brother.

"Probably, my sibling becomes friends with anyone in like fifteen seconds," You run your hand through your hair, a habit you do when you're stressed.

"By the way, are you new here? I don't really recognize you," He asked, his eyes scanning your face.

"Oh, yeah I am! I just moved here a few days ago," you smiled at him.

"Ahh, I've heard from Abuela about a new family moving in. Well, my name is Camilo, I'm from the Madrigal family, glad to have you here" He smiled back, offering his hand.

"I'm Y/N L/N! I'm glad to be here," you shake his hand.

"How about we try to search for them together, and get some ice along the way?"

"Sounds like a plan,"

"Camilo! Look what I found!" You walk towards the boy as he looks around the street, asking people if they saw where Antonio went, with a plastic bag in your hand.

"Hmmm?" He looks at you, leaning close to see what's inside the plastic bag, "OOOH POPSICLES!"

"They're cold so it can soothe your head bump and it won't go to waste cause we can just eat the leftover, or I suppose to drink it if it melts," You slowly walked with him as you looked down to the plastic bag to get the popsicles.

"It's like two birds in one stone. Anyways, I got you an orange popsicle cause I don't really know what flavor you like and it matches your ruana, but you can switch with my grape ones if you don't like-"

Your words were cut off as you accidentally slipped on broken pavement. You spin around like crazy, trying to get your balance again, and somehow manage to face Camilo but lose balance again. You were ready to meet your demise once again but only to find that your face did not land on the pavement but instead your back resting on Camilo's arm, holding you from your fall.

You were stunned by the cliche position that you thought would have never happened to you and you just nodded a no.

"Ooooh gracias a Dios, the popsicles are still fine, and yes I do like the orange popsicle. Thank you very much, Senorita clumsy," He smiled and put the popsicle (with the wrapping) on his forehead. He knew that he would look ridiculous to the other people in town, and to be honest, his forehead didn't hurt anymore, but something about you makes him want to put a popsicle on his forehead.

You smiled and put your grape popsicle on your forehead as well, walking beside him.

You bit the last piece of your grape popsicle, resting on the floor, hopeless after a whole day of searching.

"Where on earth could they both be?" you groan, playing with the wooden popsicle stick in your hand, "This all happened because of his fascination with animals."

"Animals..." Camilo repeated, "Dios mio! Why didn't I think of this sooner! They're probably in Antonio's room,"

"Huh? What does his room have to do with animals? Does he have pet birds in there?"

"You don't know..?"

"Know what?"

"Ohhhh right, you just moved in" A mischievous smile spread onto Camilo's face, thinking about all the pranks he could do on you.

"Come on, I bet you five more popsicles that they're in my house,"

"Okay, you're on" You agreed, not knowing that the Madrigals were a special family.

“Woaahh, your house is nice,” you said to the boy next to you while admiring the house.

“Thank you Y/N,” Camilo smiled then looked back at the house, “Casita, did you hear that?”

Suddenly, the windows on the house started to open and shut close repeatedly as if it’s saying ‘yes’

“Did you do that??” You asked, amazed.

“Nope not at all — It’s Casita doing it” He smirked.

“Casita, can you please lead Y/N to Antonio’s room?” Camilo asked in an innocent tone.

The floor under you started to move and shake, earning a surprised yelp from you, the unexpected action made you stumble on your own feet but before you could fall, a sudden strong force pushed you forward to the stairs.

“CAMILO HEELPPPPPP” You shrieked, not used to moving without actually moving your legs.

“BHAHAHAH Calm down Y/N and enjoy the ride, Casita would never hurt a person,” Camilo smiled at you, the floors pushing him as well beside you.

Not long after, you arrived at a glowing door that had the face of the boy you saw earlier engraved into it.

“Ladies first,” Camilo said, opening the door for you as he jokingly bow.

To say you were amazed is an understatement. You were beyond astonished by the room.

“HOW IS THERE A JUNGLE HERE??” You looked around, letting it all sink in.

"Casita is a special house and the Madrigal is a special family," Camilo nonchalantly said.

You let out an awe, wanting to explore more of the room but then a cheetah jumped from the trees to the ground in front of you, causing you to jump back to Camilo, hiding behind him.

Camilo chuckled as he watched you peeking out from his shoulder, still hiding behind him. He can’t help but think how adorable you were.

“HEY!” You shouted as you realized that the two kids were on the cheetah.

“YOU LITTLE NAUGHTY GREMLIN,” You ran to your sibling as they got off the cheetah, “I was trying to find you the whole day!! You gave me a heart attack, Mama would kill me if she found out!”

“Antonio! You should have told me if you were going somewhere,” Camilo joins you nagging the two kids. The two kids giggle as they let out a soft sorry.

“Okay, say goodbye to your friend now, we gotta go back home,” You said to your sibling, waving bye to Camilo and Antonio.

You were about to leave when Camilo suddenly held your hand.

“Will I meet you soon? Today was fun,” He shyly asked, still holding your hand.

“Of course, after all, I still have five popsicles to buy you, right?” You smiled.

“O-oh right! I’ll see you soon then!” Camilo slowly took his hands off with a smile on his face.

“Please come again!” Antonio said to your sibling, and your sibling nodded.

You left Casita, and for the rest of the day, you were giddy as you remembered your encounter with Camilo.

Unbeknownst to you, Camilo was excited to see his Senorita clumsy again.

Please make a way to your rooftop,” Camilo exclaimed and as soon as the words left his mouth, the roof extended, making a stair-like path for the both of you to walk on to the very top of the house.

“Thank you Casita,” Camilo said as he pulled you onto the roof, one hand holding your hand as the other holds your shoulder, making sure that you don’t fall.

"Come here," Camilo leads you to the middle of the roof, and before you sat down, he wiped the dust off the rooftop.

"Mi amor! You didn't have to do that!" You softly push him as a blush slowly crept its way to your cheeks. You were grateful that it was night so Camilo couldn't see your blush. It was the small things he does that get your stomach filled with butterflies.

"What do you mean? Only the best for mi vida, of course!" He smiled cheekily, sitting down while holding your hand carefully as you sat down next to him.

"It should be appearing in any second now..." He impatiently said as he looked up to the starry night with excitement.

You were equally as excited as him for the fireworks, but something on how joyful he looked right now just caught your eyes. Your eyes were stuck admiring his features. He had always looked so attractive, but the way he had this long genuine smile stretched on his face causing small cute wrinkles around his eyes, his eyebrows softly creasing as he waits in anticipation, the adorable gleam of excitement in his eyes, it was all just so... perfect.

You heard the explosions from the fireworks booming in the sky, you saw how the color changes on his face, from purple to green to yellow, but you can't help but keep your eyes on him. The way his eyes admire the fireworks, it leaves you smiling like a fool.

"Mi vida, doesn't the firework look amazing?" He turns his head to you as he points to the sky, shocking you from the sudden eye contact.

Usually, you weren't as bold on the compliments like he was. He was the extremely flirty one that left you flustered and red. You always admire him in your head but whenever it was time to actually be vocal about your admiration to him, you freeze up. However, something about tonight gave you a confidence boost, a fearless feeling.

Maybe it was the way just how breathtaking he looked tonight, or the way that it was New Year and one of your wishes was to compliment him more. or maybe it was the way he caught you off-guard so without realizing it, you blurted out a few words.

"Yeah, but it's not as amazing as you are, Mi amor," You blinked slowly as you realized what you said. You looked at him with wide eyes.

He looked at you with wide eyes as well, a bright red flushes his face, his heart beating so fast that he was sure that his sister would hear it over the fireworks. His mouth open wide as he looked at you stunned.

You melted at his reaction. If only you knew how endearing he looked when he blushed, you would have definitely showered him compliments every day.

"I know I don't compliment you often, but I just want you to know how lucky I am to have such an amazing, adorable, breathtaking, jaw-dropping, stunning, out-of-this-world boyfriend!" You ramble as you scoot closer to Camilo.

"Oh, and have I mention how your smile just steals my heart every time and-"

"Mi vida! Please stop," Camilo places his hand over your mouth, his eyes not looking at yours. You started to worry a bit, thinking that you might have said too much, but your worries disappeared in a second when you see how red he was. It was unbelievable! It was like he was glowing red. (and there weren't any red fireworks in the sky!)

"Huh? Why? Can't I just compliment my perfect boyfriend the way he deserves it?" You moved his hands down and held them in yours.

He looked away, showing you his ears which were even brighter than the rest of his face.

"Cause mi amor, you have no idea how much your words are affecting me right now," He brought your hand onto his chest.

"Do you feel my heartbeat?" He asked.

Yeah. You did. and dios mio, it was beating like a billion meters per second.

"This is what you do to me, just by your words alone," He whispered to your ears, and now it was your turn to be a glowing tomato.

"HA! You're so red right now!" Camilo burst out laughing, leaving you even redder.

The market was full of bustling noises, barters, and people constantly moving around. It was a busy day, for another special event was coming up in Encanto.

The Madrigal family wanted to celebrate Casita coming back after its fall a few days ago. Even if Abuela Alma tried to soften her words and ways, it was hard to break old habits. She wanted to make sure that everything was perfect. However, she did include her son, Bruno, and granddaughter, Mirabel in preparing the party.

As expected, The Madrigal family was extremely busy. Running here and there, gathering decorations, and doing thousands of tasks.

Luckily, Camilo had just finished all of his tasks, and before his padre or anyone else could ask him to help or add another task for him to do, he ran to the market.

He needed a break, for four days in a row he had not seen his vida and he was getting desperate. He just wanted to feel their embrace, missing their touch and presence. Oh dios mio, he just needed to be with you this instant!

In a crowd filled with people's voices, his ear immediately perked up when they caught your voice. How could he ever miss it? It was his favorite after all.

Knowing that you were just a few steps away, a large smile find its way to his face. He turned to see you and your friend chatting away, his heart missing a beat when he saw your breathtaking smile.

Just as he was about to steal you away, something your friend said stopped him in his tracks.

"Y/N, you're going on a date this Saturday, right? Want me to help you dress up?" Your friend winked at you teasingly.

You blushed up, you haven't seen him in a while so you can't help but feel a bit flustered about meeting him, your amor.

"Oooooo with him right? That handsome guy," Your other friend nudges your shoulder, smiling mischievously.

"Oi stop or I'll smack you this instant," You let out a laugh, not noticing the boy in his yellow ruana looking at you with sad eyes.

'A date this Saturday? With who?' Camilo thought, his heart ripping as he realized what this could only mean. 'N-no way. They would never do that to me. They love me! They would never cheat on me!'

Feeling like someone was watching you, you looked around and made eye contact with Camilo. Your eyes widen, not expecting to see him in the market. Instantly, you made your way to him, leaving your friends behind.

Your friend saw who you were heading to and understood what was going on.

"See you later, Simp!" One of your friends shouted, running before you can smack them on the head.

You rolled your eyes, you were definitely going to get them later for that, but right now, there were more important matters.

You ran and hugged him tightly, placing your head on his shoulders, but stop when you realized that the boy wasn't hugging you back.

"Mi amor, what's wrong?" You looked up to him, letting go.

His eyes were hesitant to meet yours, and when they did, it was full of pain. You panicked when you see this sight. What happened? Was his Abuela too hard or-

"Date..." He murmured, his voice low.

"Date??" You repeated, confused.

"You have a date this Saturday...?" He said looking at you with betrayal, his voice almost breaking.

"Huh?? Querido, you asked me to go on a date with you after the party, remember?" You said, desperate to make the look in his eyes go away. Holding his arms, scared that he'll leave you without hearing you out.

"Oh...."

"OHHHHHHHH"

Your tense shoulders lighten up as you see a soft smile crawl up to his face.

“I’m so sorry mi vida” Camilo immediately brought you close to his chest while playing with your hair. “I’m so dumb, I completely forgot that I asked you on a date after all the preparations for the party,”

He squeezes you tight as he says, “I… I thought you cheated on me. I know you would never do that but when I heard your friends said you had a date and I-“

Before he could ramble on, you pulled on the collars of his shirt, bringing his lips on yours. He was frozen for a few seconds, but it didn’t take him long to completely melt under your touch, holding your head to deepen the kiss.

You let go of him and gave him a quick peck after seeing his flushed face.

“I’ll never cheat on you, you’re the only one for me, amor de mi vida”

can we get some headcanons for Camilo saying “I love you” for the first time 👉🏽👈🏽💛 or maybe they’re dating and he overhears the reader telling one of the other Madrigals that they love him? I just think it’s very special 💞

Camilo saying "I love you" :

- "Sooo... do you love my big brother ?"

- Camilo choked with his own saliva when he overhears his little brother asking you that.

- Even though he’s shocked, he still wait for your answer.

- He’s heart beats faster, and faster... he stares in the void, forcing his thoughts to go back like they were.

- But he can’t.

- He just wants to hear say the word. He’s a total wreck, and Dolores certainly his erratic breath.

- And then you said : “Yeah... Yes I do. I love you brother” even your smile was audible.

- “Love”

- Camilo forgets how to breath, and overwhelmed by utter joy he’s feeling, he runs away.

- His heart is about to explode, his cheeks are crimson and his head is dizzy.

- You love him. You love him. You love him.

- He slams his bedroom door and runs his hands on his face and in his hair, desperately trying to calm down.

- He doesn’t even know why it affects him so much. He just... he is the happiest young man on earth.

- He slides down the door and puts a hand on his heart, he smile with pure joy. He almost feels silly for smiling like that. 

- But he don’t care. 

- Right he just wants to kiss you and tell you how much he loves you.

- Suddenly he hears a knock.

- “C-Camilo ? Are you alright ? Is something wrong ?” No nothing is wrong, Y/N, everything is perfect. 

- He slowly gets up, still breathless but his beautiful smile remains on his face, now softer.

-”If you heard what I said a-and that why you ran, I...” No... you don’t mean- “I really mean it and...”

- Camilo hear you starting to sob on the other side, but he’s stunned and can’t seem to move.

-”And I’m sorry if.. t-that’s too fast for you or if....*sob* if.. you don’t feel the same thing I understand..! I just wanted to let you know” You try to smile despite the pain.

- Oh my god, he loves you so damn much...

- He swings the door open, he comes face to face with you.

- You stutter and try to say something but he interrupt you: he kisses you so intensly that the world around you start to spin.

- He wants to convey all his love for you through this kiss, but he terribly wants to tell you those three word.

- When Camilo breaks the kiss, you two are shaking from the intensity, almsot trembling.

- You slowly open your eyes, and Camilo rest his forehead on yours.

-”I... I love you too, Y/N” he opens his eyes and smile. “More than anything in the world”.

- You chuckle, blown away by how magical it feels. It was unbelievable.. so you kiss him again.

- And from now on, Camilo will tell you everyday, that he loves you, with all his soul.
