~While his friends attempt arson in the name of Smores, Eita is happy to take a moment with you, watching the sunset over the ocean.

~Hey @deadgirl--superstar you were my Firecracker for this event! I havent had the chance to write for Semi Semi before so I am super thankful you had his as one of your faves! I apologize for being a day late!
Note: I saw that one of your fun facts was that you played the bass so I wanted to tie in a bit of instrumental stuff. I apologize for my lack of terminology, the anatomy of a guitar chart on google could only get me so far!
Waves brush against the sand as the sky bleeds the color of fresh peaches.
Streaky purple clouds bandage the sunset and the day at the beach has turned from scorching hot too blissfully comfortable.
You and your boyfriend had been invited to join a few of his friends from high school for a day of beach volleyball, snacks, and a bonfire in the evening before one of the barges over the water launch a special fireworks show.
After a long day in the sun, setting for his former teammates, Eita’s skin is sporting a pinkish tint as he digs through your cooler, pulling out a condensation drenched bottle of cold water. Little droplets drip onto the beach blanket as he holds it out for you.
“Here,” he says grinning with a lopsided smile. “I know you haven’t had much to drink today. Gotta hydrate.”
Setting down the book you were reading, you accept the bottle, your skin savoring the cold sensation against your palms. “You should have one too. It’s only fair.”
He raises a brow, but quickly gives in, grabbing a second water bottle from the cooler and twists off the cap as you do the same, noticing for the first time the sand sticking to his shins.
The moment that cold water touches your lips, you realize just how badly you needed it. You drink thankfully, not stopping for air until half the bottle is gone.
A glance to the side tells you that your boyfriend isn’t doing any better. His bottle is nearly empty and his Adam’s Apple bobs with each gulp. It should be illegal for someone to look that good just drinking water. He truly was meant to be an entertainer.
“Oh yeahhh. We riseeeeee,” a voice howls from down the beach. Tendou waves his hands cryptically over a pile of wood as if trying to create a bonfire from his mind alone. Suddenly, he reaches into the pocket of his shorts and pulls out one of his homemade firestarter, a concoction of dryer lint and gasoline that has you and your boyfriend lingering on your beach towels far away just in case the beach itself goes up in smoke.
The flames grow under the guidance of the Guess Monster until a sudden shift in the wind snuffs them out once more, a thin trail of dark smoke rising from the pyre as the disappointed groans of the group scare away a flock of birds feasting on whatever critters the tide brought in.
“You wanna save the day?” You ask him, knowing full well he packed a lighter just in case the bonfire plans go up in smoke.
He shakes his head “Nah, they got it. We should take it easy.-“ he trails off as Tendo tosses three more fire starters onto the pyre. His warm eyes widen in concern as he looks back at you. ”If anything happens, we don’t know them.”
He says that, but if anything did happen over there, he wouldn't just sit by and watch. He’s too much of a showoff to be an extra in this scene. “Noted,” you share a look and laugh, stomach feeling giddy at this rare moment of peace between the two of you.
Still sipping on your waters, you sit in comfortable silence watching as the sunset darkens across the horizon. You’re not sure when he grabbed his guitar, but now it sits on his lap as he strums a few chords experimentally.
With his music career taking off, he knows he needs to find time to practice each day. If he skips one, he’ll feel it. And who can object when he makes such beautiful music.
Or at least that’s what it should’ve been.
He starts to play the bridge of your favorite song, but the sound coming from the acoustic sounds off. He narrows his eyes and begins to tune the guitar. “That's weird,” he mutters. “I could’ve sworn I just tuned it.” He tries again, the sound still sounding wrong.
“ You don’t think it’s broken, do you?” You ask, holding out your hands for the guitar. “Let me see.”
He obliges, handing you one of his most treasured sessions without a second thought. As you inspect the instrument for any signs of damage, you notice that there is a sound coming from the inside of the guitar.
Just as you are about to give it a gentle shake, a scraping shuffling sound echoes from the center.
Whatever is inside is moving.
“It’s moving.” you whisper loudly, deciding to pawn this problem back to the guitar's rightful owner.
“It’s moving?” he questions, trying to peer into the dark hole. “Are you sure it wasn't just a pebble sliding against the soundboard?”
“I know what I heard,” you say again a bit more urgently, “And something living is in there.”
He grins boyishly, not fully believing you but still indulging in your concerns, holding the soundhole to his ear to pick up on the noise he missed earlier. He pauses, ashy brows lowering in concentration when suddenly he flinches. “Ow, what the-”
He recoils, pulling the instrument away from his ear, the top of which now flushed a pickling red. “What’s wrong?” you ask. “Did you get your hair caught in the strings again?”
He shakes his head and rubs his ear with his left hand. “No, I think something bit me?” His voice is ripe with confusion and a tad of dramaticism. Something he didn't seem capable of when you first met.
“Bit you?” you parrot, taking a hesitant scoot back on your beach towel until the palms of your hands dip into the warm sand. You both stare at the guitar like it’s filled with old dynamite. His movements are slow as he turns the guitar over, holding it just high enough over the ground so whatever is inside can climb out.
He taps gently on the back of the instrument, as a small greenish-blue hermit crab scuttles out of front the hole, jumping onto the sand.
Your boyfriend scowls at the crustacean, who returns it with an angry wave of his claws. A piece of his fine, ash-silver hair clings to one of his pincers.
“Well, at least you weren’t bit.” You chuckle with a laugh. “Just pinched because someone thought you were taking their home.”
“Well consider him evicted,” he grumbles watching as the crab disappears into the sand.
“Him?” you ask teasingly. “I didn't know you were a crab expert.”
“I don’t know.” he shrugs. “I just got the sense it was a dude, like I felt it?”
“In your ear when it pinched you?” you chime in. The mark on his ear still visible as he rubs at it.
“What? it hurt those pinchers are no joke.” he says, a slight pout on his lips.
You step closer to him, leaning up and pressing a slight kiss to the shell of his ear. “There, all better. Now, will that do or should we get some of your friends to avenge you?”
The tender gesture paired with the teasing causes a flush to creep onto his cheeks, a shade of pink slightly lighter than mark on his ear. “Not a word to them. If they found out I lost a fight to a hermit crab I’ll never hear the end of it.”
“Ohh Semi-Poo,” Tendo calls from down the beach. The terrible nickname makes your boyfriend's eye twitch as you turn toward the red-haired man. The bonfire behind him is concerningly high as he holds up his homemade chocolate bark above his head like a trophy. “Come on, love birds. Get over here before everyone has s’more… Get it?”
You two can practically see Ushijima roll his eyes as the Professional Volleyball player takes a bite of his smore. The smell of gooey marshmallows and melty chocolate wafts down the beach under your noses and your mouth begins to water. “Ready?”
“Almost,” you hum, choosing this moment to pinch his other ear, His breath hitches in surprise as you take off running down the beach with an impish grin on your face. Sand and little shells kicking up behind you.
“Hey, get back here.” he calls, chasing you down. “His speed on the sand is predatorily impressive and you are caught. His arms wrapping around your midsection in no time.
“You’re almost as much trouble as the crab,” he pants, you feel his smirking lips against your ear as your heart pounds. “But you should know that even if you were a crab, I’d still love you.” He kisses your ear and suddenly the fading sunset around you seems to brighten.
“I’d love you if you were a crab too.” you murmur cheesily.
“And… If you were a crab I’d let you pinch me anytime.”
