We had a great time at the New York State Sheep & Wool Festival! Good news... I got some kettle corn!
I've been rebuilding my barn and turning this turkey coop into a cozy cottage.
Same day, different chores.
Right hand drive bug spotting. I love the side mirrors, not so much the third brake light.
A friend of mine gave me this basket case engine. 1961 Porsche 356. The crank turns and that is about all I know… It looks pretty complete, but I don’t know Porsche engines. It has no exhaust but does have it's thermostat. After my crashed Subaru bumper is done and my Super Beetle had it’s engine, I’ll put it on the stand and disassemble, clean, and inspect. Sounds fun!
Another Subaru related break from my bug. My 2010 Legacy was hit and the front bumper cover was torn in two. I've started heat welding it back together. It'll take a bit of body work as it wasn't a clean break.
1. New E-clips and Teflon washers for the flap linkage. 2. Hoover bit installed; you can see the capture nut; I still need to put in a bolt. 3. The outside is messy and I have loads to put on still. I don't think the accelerator cable come in at the correct angle. I'll rotate the arm on the hex-rod.
My languishing bug as it sits in my shop awaiting engine bits.
More parts for final engine assembly. You can see the split case transaxel engine stand. Gives me a place to attach a starter.
New intake gaskets mean I can put my engine back together... Sort of. My thermostat is shot and I may as well feed it to the bear. I ordered a new style 'stat. I also had to de-rust my flaps. Making slow progress, 15 minutes at a time.
This engine really wants to be put back in the bug. Vroom Vroom. Rebuilt heads and rockers are back on. Slowly...
GoGo Rodriguez says it too cold... I agree. When my shop is above freezing, I'll put my rockers back on the 1915cc engine and get my '71 Super Beetle on the road... I hope. It has been sitting for a while.
I like it!
Old engine out; used engine being prepped.
The bug is again on hold while I replace this engine, bad rod bearings, in my 2005 Subaru Outback.

Adjuster offset to the front as it should be. Now I can press on and cut my push rods.
