dean discovering that cas is a grumpy little shit in the mornings. he never wants to get out of bed. he hogs the covers. he rolls his eyes a lot and sighs loudly when dean tells him itās time to get up.
he has the most insane bed head dean has ever seen. heās not human until heās had coffee. he grumbles about how the floor is cold. he squints at dean like heās mad at him for some reason. he flops around with his robe untied because why the fuck not. Ā
dean finds it all highly amusing. he likes to kiss cas in the mornings and ruffle his hair and slap his butt. and no matter how huffy cas gets, dean just finds it adorable. so he canāt stop smiling at him.
it makes cas even more annoyed.Ā stop calling me cute, dean. Iām a warrior.
yeah you are. a cute warrior.Ā
high school english teacher deanās comments on his kidsā papers
āthis paper is terrible but iām giving you a B just for the star wars reference.ā
ācome ON, dude, i didnāt spend three agonizing days covering grammar for you to consistently forget the difference between āfewerā and āless thanāā
āoh hell yeah this is great (donāt tell the other teachers i said hell yeah)ā
āthis sentence is more beautiful than a lot of dates iāve been on, keep up the good work.ā
āyou literally plagiarized galaxy quest verbatim in this paper, did you think i wouldnāt notice? do you even know me? you know what, iām not even mad. galaxy quest is awesome.ā

people always talk about the extreme no homo mentality in guys sports teams but donāt talk about the severe lesphobia in girls sports teams. growing up playing team sports really fucked me up as a kid. straight girls iāve played with were always scared of being perceived as gay for being athletic and because of the stereotypes of lesbians in certain sports. this was universal in the 3 sports i played: volleyball, softball, and basketball.Ā
there were always strict unwritten rules about how you presented yourself while playing. for instance the ribbon in the hair for softball and a bow in your ponytail for volleyball. if you didnāt prove your femininity while playing you were a lesbian. there was so much effort in not being seen as a lesbian and proving that you /werenāt/ a lesbian was really important.Ā
girls would always talk shit about girls with short hair on opposing teams.Ā āweāre playing the team with the d*keā was something i heard often as a kid. something i still heard in high school. being a lesbian in girls sports teams is predominantly what made me feel trapped in the closet in high school. I only felt comfortable coming out after i quit sports altogether
so if we could stop acting like straight girls have less of a stake in homophobia thatād be greatĀ
You know how Chuck reacted to meeting the winchesters? What if he did accidentally create them? Like, he started writing his books to distract himself and, being god, the characters became real?
Basically, I love this idea.Ā
When season 11 revealed that Amara was Chuckās sister, it changed things in the show. BIG things. Like, the whole entire shows mytharc since day one things.
Iām actually not exaggerating here, hear me out please.
Okay, so what do we know about theĀ āWinchester Gospelsā? They were written to record the end times and the roles that Sam and Dean Winchester were supposed to play. Sam and Dean are the tragic siblings, manufactured by the angels to be the perfect vessels because they are in themselves mirrors for Michael and Lucifer on earth. The show spells it out for us thanks to Gabriel:Ā āwhy do you think you two are the vessels? Think about it. Michael, the big brother, loyal to an absent father, and Lucifer, the little brother, rebellious of Daddyās plan. You were born to this, boys. Itās your destiny! It was always you! As it is in heaven, so it must be on earth. One brother has to kill the other.ā
So Dean is supposed to kill Sam as Michael killed Lucifer, one must destroy the other, the older sibling destroys the younger sibling for the sake of the world. That is what Chuck was writing about, Sam and Dean and their destiny in the apocalypse.
Now, Sam and Dean may have ripped up the ending, but that wasnāt the whole story, because Chuck has his own part in this giant mirror of a mirror. Because Michael and Lucifer werenāt even the original story. Chuck and Amara were.
Before creation, Chuck and Amara were siblings in chaos, I dunno if I imagined this or not but I am pretty sure that Amara calls Chuck herĀ ābig brotherā implying she is the younger sibling but I am not entirely sure on that so donāt quote me here. Nevertheless, we have two siblings, and in order to create the universe, one destroys the other. Chuck chooses creation over Amara, thus starting a millennia long series of events ending in Sam and Dean fighting it out on that day in Stull Cemetery.Ā
Why therefore did Chuck hide away during the apocalypse? Why didnāt he reveal himself? Because he was ashamed at what he had done to his sister. Because the whole apocalyptic mess was his fault because of his guilt at choosing everything over her. So what does he do instead of fixing things? He writes.Ā
Chuck wrote Dean Winchester to be himself. Dean is ChuckāsĀ āMary Sueā. (yes I damn well used that term.) And Sam? Sam is the sibling he gave up for the universe.
So when Chuck poured all of his love and guilt and sorrow over his sister into his new creation, Dean Winchester became everything that Chuck could not be. Dean Winchester will always put his brother before everything else in the entire universe. Because that is a fundamental part of Deanās creation. Chuck wrote the Winchesterās specifically to undo his own tragic story. In his writing, Dean does not sacrifice Sam for the world, Dean always saves Sam. Even at the risk OF the world. Because Chuckās biggest regret was not putting his sister first.
It all combines in a rather beautiful narrative symmetry doesnāt it?
O. M. G.
Thatās not even a crack theory, thatās a perfectly legitimate interpretation, and I want to read a dissertation on it.
Oh, I LOVE this idea.
Especially, hear me out, Sam and Dean only start existing in The Pilot.Ā
Obviously they pop up with their whole destinies intact as far as anyone is concerned, and the entire story is ready set up for them, but all the history is retroactive to Chuck realising whatever elseĀ was happening (for example, Azazel already setting out to find the special child as 4x22 showed) the apocalypse was going to finally happen. It would also be interesting that 4x03 might mean that until Dean did that, historically it wasnāt just that he didnāt fail to stop it but that it hadnāt happenedĀ until he did it - a lot of the early writing of the show is feeling its way out towards the story as it finally happened, supposedly as it was destined, but I always thought implicating Chuck in creating the whole narrative lumps him with the whole wonky plot (e.g. how comes Azazel was creating a whole army of kids and didnāt know what one it would be before heād whittled them all down, and only seemed to be backing Sam on a hunch)⦠The plot ended up fitting but thatās not the same as it always seeming like it was written to go in that direction :P
Back at the start of season 4 Casās orders were really strange and attributed to God as often as the angels, though later it turns out God wasnāt talking to any of them, in 11x21 Chuck tells Dean he had him saved - I think the implication being from Hell that one important time that dragged him back into the story. If 4x03 was Chuck literally delivering a retcon that makes a lot of sense to me⦠Iāve written before about 4x18 being a huge test, that all of TFW passes in his eyes, as the episode is a mirror to the end of the season for them:
http://elizabethrobertajones.tumblr.com/post/148201027853/do-you-think-chuck-purposefully-wrote-himself-into
http://elizabethrobertajones.tumblr.com/post/152739182798/i-just-watched-4x18-with-my-mum-and-heres-a-few
so looking at it as him fiddling with the story to make his characters who heās almost belatedly realising are paralleling himself and his sister fit to this story, almost like, well, itās happening, but if there was a chance of making it NOT happen hereās how it might happen if my OCs were awesome enough to stop itā¦
I love the idea that he was just writing catharsis in that douchey certain kinds of pretentious writer way of writing a novel about it instead of dealing with it directly (in 11x20 his writing has no effect on the story happening elsewhere, possiblyĀ because itās a retrospective, although we have no idea how much retroactive effect it had once heād said it happened that way :P) ⦠and then because he was focused on doing that (running and hiding as we catch up to him again in 11x20), Sam and Dean showing up on his doorstep ACTUALLY take him by surprise. He sort of had them off in a fictional world where they could walk right up to his doorstep and ring the bell but he wouldnāt expect them but his book would be the events of 4x18 as it happened⦠But then the bell actually rings and he only belatedly realises his OCs are loose in the world.
Which means heās accidentally created the only characters who can possibly take on the apocalypse, but unfortunately because theyāre real theyāre also, well, way on the way to STARTING it. This explains to me his immediate decision to test them, as well as why he was perfectly happy giving Dean vital information about the locations the plot stuff was happening in Lucifer Rising and Swan Song, because he accidentally created the guys heād be rooting for⦠May as well help them now theyāre loose and thereās another way :P
I suppose after that once the story isĀ āoverā theyāre free to live their lives, but thereās not just the repercussions of the plot stuff from the apocalypse, but also the backstory Chuck wrote them to make it all fit so neatly, so stuff like the MoL connection suddenly comes to them (aka: why Henryās spell was SO far out of time) or stumbling across Cain, etc - all the backstory to their story is recently created and all the ripples are taking a bit of time to settle, but eventually they may bounce back to them, and since they were created in miniature for the God an Amara thing, eventually THAT ripples back to them too.
Itās interesting to think about what happens with theĀ āpeaceā on the other side of ALL the original stories being told⦠Itās already driven Lucifer crazy :P
