the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

Look I like Will's new powers and I think they're cool and all but I feel like they should have given him some sort of shield powers. Like something that Violet from the Incredibles could do. It would make a lot of sense for him as a healer. Like he could be trying to take care of a fallen Demigod in the middle of the battle field and he doesn't want them or himself to get injured by flying arrows or approaching monsters so he just makes like a bubble around them while he heals them.

Actually, he can only get blood from universal donors, as O- blood type people can only be transfused with O- blood. However, he stays a big loser because it is a rare blood type, and being a universal blood donor vampire is really funny : he can give his blood to everyone but he can only drink blood from O- people whom are not many. What a loser.

I like to think that Will became a doctor just to steal O- blood from his workplace. He works nights and is so friendly that no one ever suspects it’s him.

But there’s this new guy on staff and he’s all pale and also works nights so of course Nico’s suspect number 1.

Great news for Will who really doesn’t want to get fired for stealing blood. Bad news for Nico who also doesn’t want to get fired, if he gets fired for being a vampire his friend’s’ll never let him live it down.

So now we’ve got Will, vampire who needs to eat and can only eat a very rare blood type and the hospital is the best place to get it because he will have an allergic reaction to any other type. So he’s been sneaking around at night to take it.

And we’ve got Nico: who likes his job but is everyone’s prime suspect for who the vampire is. He isn’t, but no one will believe him so now he has to clear his name by finding who the real vampire is.

And somehow through it all they fall in love.

I've been thinking about how Nico's association as prince of the Underworld can be interpreted as a beautiful metaphorical connection to his dichotomous personality in general.

The underworld encompasses different region with of diverse natures - The fields of Elysium along with the Isles of Blessed represent the best, and the fields of punishment, tartarus and land of sorrow, in direct contrast, represent some of the worst things...

I don't have the words to articulate this well, but it can be read as an interesting parallel to Nico's own persona: he has great capacity for violence, destruction and a streak of ruthlessness, yet his PoVs are abrim with so much love for his friends, consideration and genuine good intent.

As a side, I feel very few characters in the continuum have such a consistent, overarching and strong juxtaposition of contrasting traits as Nico does.
