can you people stop putting known zionists on my fucking dash boarg please.
In honor of pride month, here's a list of some lesbian/sapphic movies that, at least from what I see, aren't talked about as much (most of this will be horror):
The Vampire Lovers - this one is an adaptation of Carmilla and, though its not exactly the best representation due to the time it was made, I still love this movie. It's absolutely gorgeous to look at, and I will always love a lesbian vampire
The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love - extremely 90s, but also such a cute movie. I'm surprised I don't see this one talked about as much as, for example, But I'm a Cheerleader is. I think it deserves more recognition
Lowlifes - pretty sure this is a Tubi movie so it's not exactly high budget, but it's a really fun horror movie!
It's a Wonderful Knife - this one is a christmas themed movie and yes, is a horror spin on It's a Wonderful Life. I personally think this movie is so underrated
Bound - definitely more well known than the others, but if I ever stop talking about this movie, assume I am dead. I wish every single movie out there was this cool and this dykey
Memento Mori - korean horror movie that is more of a tragedy, but I really liked this one and it's a movie I've found has dug into my brain, and I think about it often
Bit - okay, I will admit I didn't love this movie, but I want to still recommend it and have more people watch it. It's also lesbian vampires, but the main character is a trans woman, played by a trans actress! The reason I didnt love the movie is mainly because I think the story isn't that great, and the visuals could've been way better. I think it had a lot of potential though
Influencer(s) - okay, so Influencer is a horror movie from 2022 and that in itself isnt that gay, but it's a genuinely really good movie. Influencers is the sequel and its gayer! They're very entertaining horror movies, I really recommend them
Fear Street trilogy - I know there's a 4th one now, but I haven't seen it and apparently it's not gay. But I feel like, when these came out, people were talking about them all the time and now that a few years have passed, I rarely see people discuss these movies. But they're fun, they're well made and they're gay! I love the Fear Street trilogy a lot
Cat People (1942) - since its from the 40s, it's obviously not explicit in the lesbianism but also I don't know how you could watch this movie without picking up on the queerness. This movie is very sad, but it's quickly become one of my favorites. Visually stunning with great performances
All Cheerleaders Die - I really need to rewatch this one. I dont remember it too well, but it is gay and I do remember really liking it. It is lower budget though, but still one I'll recommend
D.E.B.S. - so silly and campy, and also genuinely really sweet. I enjoy watching this one a lot!!
The Hunger - only recently watched this one, but ohhhh this film is gorgeous. Sad and tragic, but filled with gothic visuals and some great editing!
The Retreat - low budget lesbian slasher movie!!!!
Imagine Me & You - cheesy and cliche romcom, but with lesbians!!!
Tag - ending this off with a very absurd japanese horror that, while not explicitly gay, I feel like it very much is about being a queer woman in a male-dominated society. This movie is weird and doesn't explain anything to you, but I personally found it fascinating!
Oh by the way, one thing I forgot to mention is that Cat People (1942) also has what is considered as the first jump scare in a movie! It's not quite the same as modern day jumpscares, obviously, and I imagine it wouldn't make anyone nowadays actually jump. But still, I think thats a cool fact and I wanted to mention that!
A raku fired ceramic cat skull! I love the crackle effect on this one, and it has a metallic green star on its forehead. This piece will be available Friday, June 12th at 8pm Eastern time.
yeah sure you're not ableist... but are you cool with visible medical devices?
are you gonna be weird about feeding tubes? are you gonna ask invasive questions about catheters and ostomy bags? can you cope with seeing someone give themselves an injection? could you walk up to someone with a tracheostomy and talk to them? how about someone with a central line?
does your disability acceptance extend to people with visible medical devices?
please don't harass this person but lots of responses like this, lots like this specifically about the injection part. and here's what i have to say about it:
being squeamish is not the same as having a medical need. being uncomfortable is not the same as having a medical need. and furthermore, being uncomfortable or squeamish is not the same as having a phobia.
in the nicest way possible... if other people's medical needs make you squeamish or uncomfortable, that's something that you need to learn to cope with. this post is asking you to do one thing: be normal to people with medical devices/needs. and yeah if you can't be normal to someone with a medical device that makes you a little uncomfortable, that is something that you need to work on.
and the way to do that, as some other people have pointed out under this post, is exposure. the solution to being squeamish or uncomfortable around medical devices is not to avoid people with medical devices/needs or treat them differently, it's actually to be exposed to them more.
and that's not always easy, some medical devices are not common to see in public, but like... do some research? google is cool? look at some pictures? wikipedia is awesome? there are large communities of people with these medical devices educating about them on various social media platforms?
phobias are different. phobias are a type of anxiety disorder. they're not uncommon, but they are generally considered to be highly treatable! if you have a genuine phobia of needles or some other medical device, that's a different situation than being squeamish or uncomfortable. but it's still a situation that needs to be managed without mistreating other people with those medical devices.
it's okay to feel uncomfortable without it being a phobia. uncomfortable is not a life threatening experience. delaying a medically necessary injection could be. when i said can you cope with seeing an injection, that was intentional phrasing. you can be uncomfortable, but can you cope with that discomfort?
we're not asking you to do anything ridiculous. just be normal about medical devices. be normal when you meet people with medical devices. we're sick of being treated like we're contagious!!
(disclaimer: some of this might not be phrased well. i've been trying to formulate this post for hours, and have been thinking about it for days. i'm tired of myself and my disabled friends with visible medical devices/needs being treated this way.)
Hexagon Quilt
This is the second time I've seen a video of this technique and this explanation is so clear! It does use more fabric than English paper piecing (EPP) but you end up with a double sided hexagon so don't have to source fabric for the backing.
I'm doing EPP at the moment but I have a hole punch to make the papers and just use leaflets and junk mail, so it doesn't feel wasteful. I don't think it's difficult either- in the video she mentions it's not for beginners, but I don't have that much experience with hand sewing or EPP and I've been finding it pretty easy so YMMV
I saw this video yesterday and was seized with the need to try it out immediately. Lookit my cute lil' hexagon baby!!
Here is what the backside looks like. OP notes this takes more fabric than paper piecing, but that excess fabric makes it already triple-layered. Besides not needing backing fabric, I don't think you'd need batting for this quilt at all. It's already thick and soft just from folding all that fabric into a hexagon.
Hexagon quilt tutorial video by tiktok user camelscrafts. Method:
Each hexagon begins as a 6" circle. camelscrafts does this by creating a paper template using a compass. According to the video, a 6" circle will create a hexagon that is 2.5 inches tall.
These hexagons are hand-sewn. Thread the needle.
With the fabric right side facing, find the center of the circle by folding it in half right sides together, then folding it in half again (wrong sides are facing). The top of the triangle shape is the center of the fabric circle.
Make a small stitch into the center of the fabric. The wrong side is still facing.
Unfold the circle. There will be a small stitch in the center.
Now the hexagon is created by folding the circle into itself: Take the needle to one of the edges of the fabric (it doesn't matter which one). Pull the needle through and pull the thread tight. This will fold down the fabric and create an edge of the hexagon. Crease the fold with your finger.
This fold has two corners, one at the top and one at the bottom. Put the needle into one of the corners and pull the thread taut. This will create another fold.
Continue this going around the circle until all of it is folded down, creating the hexagon. camelscrafts notes that the last corner pulled in may be a little bit "wonky" (no precise point in the corner) if the corners were not done precisely. However, that corner is pulled into the back, so is not visible from the front.
The hexagon is now formed. Sew around the folds in the middle of the circle to hold the folds in place. Tie off and cut the thread.
Attach hexagons to each other along the sides. With right sides together, whip stitch the sides together.
“When we were kids, the Phonics Wizard came to our town to show off how the letter E can change the sounds of vowels. He turned a can into a cane, a pin into a pine. This one kid had a cap and he changed it into a cape, that kind of thing.
“And we loved it, we were all having a great time, but then he saw my sister and I, and he just got this - this look in his eyes, and then-”
She hesitated, worrying the coarse material between her fingers. “Things got pretty bad after that,” she muttered. “I know it’s silly, but I try to keep - her - comfortable. We don’t know if she can still hear us, or see us, or if she’s even still in here, but I like to think she is. I talk to her when I can, I leave music on when I’m out of the house. I tried to convince my parents to bring her with us when we went to Disneyland, but they didn’t - didn’t really take that well.”
After a moment, she put the ball of twine back onto its pillow. “Anyways. They tried to arrest the Phonics Wizard, but he had a plan in case something went wrong and he turned it into a plane and flew away.”

imo the way you feel about groups it's fully socially acceptable to hate (like children or polyamorous people, among others) is the canary in the coal mine for underlying bigoted beliefs. if you're only supportive of marginalized groups when it's cool to do so, probably you don't actually care about marginalized groups, you care about other people thinking you care

RIP Marjane Satrapi, author of the amazing graphic novels Persepolis about living during the fundamentalist revolution in Iran in the 70’s and 80’s. She also created the animated movie based on the graphic novels, which is where these gifs come from.

2-YEAR CHEDDAR
from GRAFTON VILLAGE
I usually try to review cheeses virginally - that is, ones that I’ve never had before. In this case, this is a cheddar I’ve had many times before. But I couldn’t leave it off the blog, what with its obvious appeal to leather and rubber fetishists.
As far as cheddars go, Grafton’s 2-year aged isn’t going to shock you. It’s mild, light on the salt, with a slightly sweet and grassy flavour. It’s got a nice texture. It’s dense, more moist than I expected, and smooth.
So what is the deal with the gummi suit on this cheese anyway? Well, cheese has obviously been around a lot longer than fridges. Fresh cheeses like mozzarella are too moist to last very long outside of a cold place (bacteria and fungi do so love damp places), though I don’t think anyone was too mad about eating that stuff quickly. But cheeses that have been aged (and dried) more have some more preservation options, which is where cheese wax comes in. The wax is a physical barrier, stopping fungal spores from landing, and also blocks moisture and air, making the cheese a pretty unfriendly place to grow. Even drier cheeses can be bandaged in cheesecloth and then slathered in lard to preserve them while allowing some ventilation.
I gotta admit: hot wax isn’t really my thing. But cheesecloth bondage and grease… it has potential.
SO I lived down the street from the Grafton Village Cheese and Wine shop for like a year. And it happens to be located on the grounds of this old plantation-farm where like people with disabilities and/or who were called “insane” (for things like getting pregnant out of wedlock or being Native Abenaki or having non-Protestant religious views) were forced to do slave labor for a hundred and thirty years.
So every summer the local bougie families all bring their kids to the Farm and the kids can meet the animals at the Petting Zoo and the parents can go get plentiful Cheese And Wine Samples inside the shop and everyone just acts like this is normal.
There’s a tower in the woods out back (as featured on It’s Going Down) that the enslaved people who were forced to build kept suic*d*ng by jumping off of it. It’s like a big tourist attraction and everybody just acts like This Is Fine. There are a bunch of graves down the hill that are marked with numbers instead of names.
@cheesefags I want to thank you sincerely from the depths of my heart for using this cheese for bondage erotica and stripping away the horrible patina of family-friendly-ness that sees people gather for Wholesome Summer Festivities on the final resting place of ~700 of the disabled and dispossessed. Group identity is consolidated through the death of the Other.
As of 11/25/21, The Grafton Village Cheese and Wine shop is, “due to COVID 19 safety protocols, no longer sampling any products in our retail store.” So if your life has been in any way touched by the prison-industrial complex, colonization or other institutional violence, you may consider just going in and stuffing as much product into your coat or pants as possible when they’re busy as reparations - ALLIES! Understanding that the people most-impacted also face a lot of surveillance in stores, ask what you can do to help get Reparation Cheese And Wine for your comrades this holiday season. EXPROPRIATE EVERYTHING! U.S. OFF TURTLE ISLAND!
