a-n-droid:
“I happen to be a very popular model where I’m from…” she started, a bit of a defensiveness of her own making its way into her tone of voice.
As the other kept speaking, small LEDs in her face lit up red; a robotic blush, as a result of her starting to feel embarrassed. She had no reason to feel embarrassed— Alyssa knew that she was right. But the way this other spoke still made her feel a bit bad about herself. As if she had a choice in being what she is.
“The first prototype versions of myself came out just last year. I myself have been active for several months now. Where I’m from, there’s no better alternative on the market.”
Mostly true.
“Unless.. unless you have connections. But I’m not built for those kind of people.”
{Last year. According to her research, the year would be 2017. A year before that was 2016. Sixteen years before her and her sister’s creation. It wasn’t that farfetched for her not to know then. A model outside of her jurisdiction wouldn’t be relevant to her own job.}
{”On the market”... To think humanity would still be buying things in such a crisis. Humans being humans, she supposed.}
{But more importantly, she has to be in the dark about who or what Devola is. She wants to keep it this way.}
“I’ve seen androids who are way more advanced than you. I doubt someone could tell them apart from humans.” {Alyssa’s looking at one now. Let’s see how well she could see through it.} “So seeing you... it’s weird.”
amaurctic:
“….” How persistent and annoying. “What do you have to do? Don’t. Don’t ask any questions.” Eyes wanders aimlessly. While he’s ‘looking.’ he’s listening out for things. Keeping his ears sharp, nose sharp, and everything else heightened to the best of his abilities, “What kind of questions are you going to ask?” He finally decides to ask instead. “Better not be any stupid questions.”
{Obstinence isn’t easily broken. Or is it asshole-ery? To be honest, Devola isn’t sure anymore. Leave it to her to choose the most difficult human of the bunch from pure luck.}
{But she’s got a foot in the door, it seems. She grins smugly.} “Oh, trust me, they’ll be real stupid.” {She quips sarcastically.}
“How society works, what the level of technological advancement this time has reached, how this place combats White Chlorination Syndrome, if anyone even knows it at all...”
{She pauses.} “You know. Simple things like that.”
model9s:
[ @deboru ] . .
“ITS HARD TO BELIEVE HOW FULL OF LIFE THIS CITY IS.” The android murmurs to himself, lacking the proper companions to listen to his musings, 9S seeks comfort with exploration. Everything was very much alive. The people, animals, greenery, and anything you name the city had. “I WONDER IF THIS WAS HOW THINGS WERE BEFORE THE MACHINES.” 9S is unaware of the other tuning in, though with him standing and staring, it certainly wasn’t hard to miss him.
{She wasn’t going to engage him. Nope, definitely not. Not after the huge mess that 2B caused. Devola doesn’t need to repeat that catastrophe.}
{And yet, there’s something that makes her gravitate towards 9S. It’s the same thing that made her agree to 2B’s ridiculous deal: Loneliness. It’s what connected everyone from her time, it seemed.}
{She doesn’t make her presence known immediately. In fact, she finds it amusing that he hasn’t noticed her standing so close to him. He’s not a combat android, so the lack of awareness could be passable. But to think YoRHa sent someone this dense out in the field...}
“Obviously. This is the past, you know.” {Or something like that. It’s different... or perhaps a shelter from everything that happened. Her theories were for another time.}
a-n-droid:
“I didn’t mean to imply you were one, Miss, I’m very sorry…”
Alyssa was starting to feel very awkward about the whole situation. She was about to apologize, take a step back, and just walk away (as clearly they didn’t seem too keen on the idea of having her here) but she was… she was just going to end up breaking the thing if left alone with it.
More than it was already broken, anyway.
“I’m— I’m the most advanced machine available on the market. A personal assistant android, the Alyssa Model from the Gaussian Robotics Corporation.”
Her head cocked to the side just a bit, and she looked away from the other girl and back to the robot after finishing her advertisement.
“’Really old’ is quite an understatement. It looks to be from the early 21st century. Like most things in this city, actually..”
{This is probably the first person Devola’s met that’s been polite. It’s kind of jarring, to be honest. It reminds her of her sister’s attitude towards strangers.}
{Still, she’s wary. Especially when the... Alyssa model... told her what she is.}
{She once again looks Alyssa up and down.} “You? You’re an android?” {Devola scoffs. It’s almost laughable, and she would be laughing if she isn’t so on edge. Seriously, you can see the joints and everything! How old is this model compared to her? Did she know?}
“I’ve never heard of that model.What year were you built? How long have you been active?” {The slight defensive edge in her voice from before only escalates now.}
automatwo:
The maintanence android could talk tough as much as she wanted, it wouldn’t affect 2B’s assessment of their current situation. “Hypocritical? I’m not required to make use of pleasantries to get what I want. As a YoRHa unit I’m equipped with the ability to obtain what I need through any means necessary. There are plenty of humans familiar with technology more advanced than ours to my understanding.”
2B always followed the mission directive. But she had no such thing in this city. She was merely following protocol as she understood it… Yet it seemed that behind cold words she was lashing out at Devola. Lashing out because, once again, she was all alone.
Maybe she’d gone a step too far by bringing up the other androids sister. Her waning fighting spirit was indicative of that. “Tch.” It was the exact same emotion she was experiencing. Without Pod or 9S… Without anyone else from YoRHa…
“Look. We’re both alone now, like it or not.” ‘Emotions are unnecessary’? She could only lie to herself for so long. This wasn’t a mission. She had no reason to ignore them outright. “I need support. You need a purpose. So…” She sighed. Why was she doing this? She was probably going to get rejected anyways. “At least for now, why don’t we act as partners? You could become my Operator of sorts. But if you want nothing to do with me, that’s fine too.”
{It’s ridiculous. All of this is ridiculous. This city, this android, this proposition. All of it. Devola wants to curse out this battle-obsessed, emotionally-repressed unit, and take whatever cruel punishment she wanted to dish out for a few wrong words.}
{But no matter how infuriating she is, she’s right in one thing: they’re both alone. As far as she can tell, the technology available to them is primitive. Putting aside the maintenence problem, would there be anyone here who could even understand the two’s problems? They couldn’t even understand the technology that came with their creation.}
“...Fine.” {She crosses her arms and sighs.} “Fine. I’ll work with you. But don’t call us partners. We’re not partners.” {She doesn’t want to get close to 2B, and not just because she can be insufferable.}
“I’ll find you information and do regular maintenance. Unfortunately, I can’t heal more than minor wounds, thanks to the asshole scientists. I won’t ask for much from you. Not threatening to kill me would be a good start.“
wingedoutlaw:
His head tilted slightly as he observed the red-headed woman that quietly muttered to herself. Frankly, he was expecting a different reaction and yet, she was acting quite aloof considering the bloodied men that littered the ground, alive but agonized. It was eerie in a way, but nothing that Jason wasn’t used to already.
Still, the way she went about this told Jason that this wasn’t her first pile of pained, groaning bodies.
“So you just wanted to look at these poor bastards?” Red Hood crossed his arms, squinting beneath the red helmet. He watched as she poked an arm. “You know how weird that sounds, right? Not to mention a little creepy.” But if she says she was just here for that and was not planning on hanging around, then that’s good.
{Back to poking humans. She moves the thug’s fingers, seeing how far the pain receptors go. His groaning was enough of a tell. Maybe he’d wake up if she messes with it enough. The red guy might not be happy if she does that, though.}
{She stops as his words actually sink in. Creepy.} “Huh.” {Would she be poking an android like this?}
{...Depends.}
“I don’t really care. I can’t really hurt humans myself, I don’t think” {She’d never tried, but she remembers something about three rules.} “I don’t have much else to do if not examining things from this time. That includes humans.”
amaurctic:
This is getting annoying. Naturally, Jasper’s taken a step back. Probably trying to walk away now, but to which direction. Which direction leads to where, he’s not sure and it’s annoying. probably one reason why they wished they were back home. They could navigate that area like the back of his hand no problem. The town, the woods, everything, he knew his way around. “You can ask other people. There’s all these humans in the area.” If only Jasper knew that in Hive City, not everyone are humans.
{Devola looks around at the groups of people walking around. So all of these people are humans. Good to know for sure.}
{She doubles down on her decision to choose this one. Yeah, it’s irritating that he won’t immediately agree with her, but it was somewhat endearing, as it’s a lot like her.} “Yes, but they’re not as interesting. Look, how about I don’t poke. Just questions.” {She leans towards him and sighs.} “Come on, what do I have to do to just ask a few questions?”

wingedoutlaw:
“Call an ambulance. That’d be faster.” The voice came from above and perched atop a railing was the man responsible for the savage beating that was dealt against these men. “I was waiting for more of their buddies to show up but you found your way here instead. I’d steer clear if I were you, lady.”
He wasn’t expecting someone like her to come trotting along although it had been a possibility. Still, most people would have turned the other way to call for help or worse, just ignore the men he had beaten to a bloody pulp. He was sort of counting on that so, alas. It did surprise him when she approached them however. It’s why he bothered to warn her in the first place.
Red Hood hopped down from his perch, landing just a few feet away from the red-headed woman. He really wouldn’t want a civilian to get caught up in this.
“I don’t know what you thought you were gonna try and do here, but for your own good, I’d suggest just turning the other way.” That was as polite as he could put it. Hopefully, she would listen.
{If Devola heard him, it sure as hell didn’t seem like it (she had, by the by). She dips her fingers in the blood and rubs it between the index and thumb. Huh, it’s not as thick as android blood.}
“Must not have been able to replicate it perfectly...” {she mutters to herself. Finally, she looks up at the man who decided to drop by.}
“Ambulance...” {A doctor is most likely what he meant.} “No way of doing that. I don’t know where one would hang around in this place. I don’t really have a reason to, anyway.”
{She pokes at a jutted arm, watching the body twitch a bit as she does.} “Whatever it is that’s going on here isn’t my problem. I’m just making a few observations and then I’ll get out of your hai...” {She looks up at the other’s face.}
“... your way.”
a-n-droid:
With her body functioning as it should now, she was noticing a lot more things around giving off signals than she did before.
Which only made sense, given that the majority of her instruments were not working at all before. While out and about, she’d noticed some… erratic radio signals; not like those that’d come from a functioning device. She sought out the source, the curious android she is, and found someone picking at a radio. Why not approach?
Well, the glare is one reason not to. It gave her a momentary pause, stopping halfway into one of her steps. She decided to go no closer, staying a good several feet away. She held her hands together, looking between the person and the radio.
“Well… that device you have there, my sensors were able to pick it up— it didn’t seem like it was functioning properly, which…” looking at how they were fiddling with it, “…makes more sense now. And I noticed you with it! And you seemed to be trying to figure out what it is, perhaps? I thought maybe I could help you with that.”
She was maybe trying a bit too hard to convince the other that she was nothing but innocently curious, but in her defense, they didn’t start off on too good of a note.
{Looks like the glare still works, even here. Devola looks down at the mechanism in her hand. Looks like the thing is still functional, somehow. Maybe it’s something that she’s doing with it. Another voice to bounce ideas off of would be nice, since her usual partner isn’t here. But she doesn’t trust the stranger, not one bit.}
“I’m not an idiot. This is obviously a radio. Just a really old one.” {She jabs at another part of it much harder than one should.}
“I wanted to see how it works, is all.” {She looks up and down the stranger’s body with an incredulous look on her face.}
“So what, you some kind of machine or something?”
automatwo:
The punchline of a good joke wasn’t something 2B could appreciate, so being the punchline herself was causing an artificial vein to practically pop on her forehead. “If this is what you’d consider ‘hilarious’, I want nothing to do with humor as a whole.” There was no doubt that had 9S been there that he’d be laughing his ass off, however.
“You laugh at me and then you threaten me?” Did Devola truly believe that commenting on 2B’s newfound reliance on her as if it were a bartering chip would help with the conversation’s flow? “Plenty of different characters come to this city, I don’t doubt that if I searched for one I could find someone else capable of repairing me.”
“Without any YoRHa androids around, just who do you intend on exploiting to run your errands? Or your twin sister for that matter? I could burn as many bridges as I’d like and still be fine. Can you afford to burn this one?”
{Popola would have definitely been better in this situation. Devola can almost hear her voice trying to de-escalate all of this like she did the first time.}
{Unfortunately, she wasn’t actually here to stop it, and any desire for Devola to follow in her sister’s example was thrown out the window by 2B’s... 2B-ness.}
“Oh, I’m sorry, did I offend you by threatening you? Highly hypocritical coming from someone who threatened to... oh, what was it, ‘break me in half with your bare hands’?” {Were YoRHa units always this far up their own asses?!}
“You want to go run off and threaten some human to do a subpar job working on technology that doesn’t exist? Fine. I was trying to do you a favor, but since you’re so intent on burning all your bridges, I sure as hell won’t stop you.”
“Besides, this place has no machines. If you think I need your help to defend myself from some squishy humans, you either have way too high an opinion of your usefulness or way too low an opinion of me. We dealt with our shit fine way before you ever showed up. I don’t need your help! I can do what I need without you! Without any other unit, YoRHA or not!”
“Without... Popola...” {Her vigor dies down for just a moment as the realization of exactly what her situation is finally hits. She’s alone.}
