Santi emptied his glass with a satisfied hum as he heard her words. “My my, we’re an aggressive sort, huh?” he said with a chuckle, zipping away and back, his glass full again. “Though, you could have a nuke under there, in which case, bravo, but I’m a friendly guy to a fault. I’d have said something cheesy no matter what.”
bobbi eyed him for a moment before a grin quirked at her lips. ‘oh, you have no idea.’ she replied, amused. she watched him carefully, standing with an empty glass one second, then full the next. she was almost impressed by his nonchalant behavior with his abilities. almost. bobbi gave him an amused smile, setting her drink down. ‘well, now you’ve got me intrigued, what level of cheesy are we talking about here? normal level? or ‘did it hurt when you fell from heaven’ level of cheesy?’
“don’t scare me like that.” kate replied, “i thought for a second you were actually mad at me. my shit is in my bag in the coat room, it wouldn’t have been a fair fight!” she pushed, drinking her own glass. “just rude, bobs, just rude.”
a mischievous glint flickered in bobbi’s gaze as her eyes landed on kate, expression turning from serious to amused in seconds. it was always fun messing with kate, her friendship with the younger woman based mostly off of goodnatured teasing and general badassery. ‘but you just make it so easy,’ bobbi replied from behind her glass, brows raised and lips quirked. her eyes turned back to the party, but her words obviously still addressing kate. ‘haven’t seen you all night.’ she mused, curiosity in her voice, ‘been up to anything fun?’
‘before you say anything,’ bobbi began, arching a brow pointedly, lips quirked behind a wine glass. ‘under this dress i’ve got a pair of batons and a gun, so choose your words wisely.’ despite the brash tone, she finally looked at them properly, offsetting the manner of her words with a friendly smile. ‘oh, relax. i’m just kidding.’
a loud clatter disturbed the otherwise peaceful atmosphere of the coffee shop that sat in the middle of brooklyn, one of the truly last real coffee shops that wasn’t occupied by manbuns and overpriced lattes. two batons and a large bag sat on the table, a tired yet restless blonde joined the younger woman at the booth at the very back of the shop, offering a crooked smile in greeting. ‘you’ll never guess what this one said before i bashed his head into a wall.’

( adrianne palicki ) ━ isn’t that ( bobbi morse ), the ( thirty ) year old with the ability to ( martial arts / superhuman strength )? i hear they’ve been living in new york city for ( five months ) and sometimes they go by ( mockingbird ). as seen on ( agents of shield ), sometimes she can be ( obdurate ), but they’re also ( altruistic ). these days they seem to be affiliated with ( shield ).
aight so if you haven’t watched shield what are you doing with your life ( just kidding ily ) buuut here is a link for you to get some background on my girl bobbi over here, basically she’s a badass babe with battle staves that enjoys beating up HYDRA agents, i mean what a babe right??
okay so i’m staying pretty canon to bobbi’s character on aos, met jemma undercover before being introduced to the team, has a hard time distinguishing between og shield and shield 2.0 but eventually proves her loyalty to the team, kidnapped by ward, eventually leaves shield with hunter.
and so that’s where we’ve left off, where bobbi’s story begins, or rather where it takes off. the first few months were extremely hard for bobbi. she had been apart of shield in one way or another for such a large portion of her life, and being forced to resign had never been in the plan. she still had hunter with her, but he had never felt such an unwavering duty towards the agency as bobbi had.
shield had never been a safe job, what with field work and missions and life or death situations, but through it all shield had become something of a home to her, so much so that it had even come between hunter and her a number of times; in the end, she had shield when she didn’t have anyone or anything else, and losing that safety rocked bobbi to her core.
it took some time, but bobbi found her way. she no longer had dreams of siberia and androvich. she no longer woke up to her gun already in her hands. she no longer waited for the mission she knew wasn’t going to come.
it’s in new york city that bobbi finally finds something of a home. in a shoebox studio apartment with worn out furniture and fading wallpaper. it’s not much, with nothing but half empty takeaway cartons in her fridge and threadbare sheets on her mattress, but it’s the closest to home she’s been in a long time.
but even in a city as vast and populated as new york city, bobbi still wonders if the secrets she keeps hidden under that stained mattress will remain hidden. it’s been five months she’s been in this city, and she’s not sure how much longer she can keep the truth from coming out. you can’t run forever, after all.
