DeColores Queer Orange County
Join us DeColores Queer Orange County for our 5th Annual Community Conference! The theme for this year's conference is "Redefining Mi Familia: Re-membering our histories, bodies, and communities." As a community we aim to redefine "famiia" and what that looks like for Queer and Trans Folks of Color. We are re-membering parts of us that have been fragmented (i.e. our histories, bodies, and communities) in order to be whole again and no longer compromise who we are. This event is completely FREE to the community. We have confirmed amazing workshops and performances. This year our Keynote Presentation will be facilitated by Transgeneros En Accion, an amazing Trans Latin@ group that is based in Santa Ana, CA.

A Official Statement from DeColores Queer Orange County.
On Tuesday May 27, 2014 at 8:00am DeColores Queer Orange County along with the national organization, FAMILIA: Trans Queer Liberation Movement, participated in a civil disobedience in front of the Santa Ana Jail; blocking traffic on the corner of Civic Center Drive & Boyd. This act of civil disobedience was in response to the over 2 million deportations that continue to occur under the Obama administration as well as the injustices that our Queer and Trans family face inside detention centers and GBT pods. These pods are supposed to protect them from harm and harassment yet often expose them to those same abuses from the jail’s own staff. Since Obama has stated that his views on LGBT issues have evolved, we came together to demand that Obama stop all deportations that are breaking up families and communities. These deportations have affected us personally as well as our families. We want Obama and his administration to know that our issues go beyond same sex marriage; we demand the human rights that have been denied to our communities. We demand that the criminalization of Queer and Trans folk cease, and we demand an end to the profitable contract that the Santa Ana Jail has with Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE).
That same community, composed of Queer, Trans, Undocumented, documented and mixed status individuals, collectively made this action a product of unity, visibility, and community building. We take a strong stance against a broken immigration system and the prison industrial complex. We understand that these systems of oppression affect our communities through ALL of Orange County.
Moving forward, DeColores Queer Orange County will continue coalition building and engage in necessary conversations in order for these demands to be met. Thanks familia for all of your love and support. If you would like to get involved with DeColores Queer Orange County, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].
On May 27, 2014 various immigrant and LGBTQ rights organizations will come together to bring visibility to the inhumane conditions LGBTQ people face in detention centers. This will place in Downtown Santa Ana We hope you join us in this rally as we continue the demand to end all deportations of queer and trans immigrants!
