Listen I'm sure op didn't intend this to be insensitive and genuinely thought this was nice and cool or whatever but like no. This is transphobia. Notice the "hermits can be either male or female". These people clearly don't recognize the trans guy as a man and therefore suggest that he seeks a role that is open to any gender. Also we can talk about how misogynistic it is that these roles are gendered in the first place but that's a whole other conversation. I wish the best for the trans guy and I hope he finds a way to practice his spirituality that doesn't revolve around what these fucking bigots deem appropriate
Religion stunted me from being able to profoundly and deeply empathize with people around me because it prevented me from being able to empathize with myself. As long as I viewed myself as having a sinful nature prone to being bad, I couldn’t holistically empathize with myself, because I couldn’t see that I am good and trying my best with my knowledge and experience. I couldn’t hold myself with love and compassion. And since I couldn’t feel that kind of empathy towards myself, I couldn’t feel it with others. How would I have known how to?
Since leaving religion I have learned to actually see myself with love and understanding. And it has opened my heart to empathy with others, and now instead of just logically knowing I empathize with someone, I feel it so strongly in my heart. I constantly am emotional from the love I feel for people. What a rich way to live :’)
