Hey all, quick guide to show you how to fix Starbound screen tears. If you don’t know what a screen tear is, the name is self explanatory, its where whatever the screen is displaying flickers, or stretches. If you wanna learn more go here
Right click on the game, click properties, click the local files tab in properties, then click Browse local files.
this opens up a file on your hard drive, or whatever you installed this game on, in File Explorer for windows, Finder for Macs.
b. You can skip the previous steps if you know where your Starbound file is located. Once there we can access the file named: Storage, then open the file “Starbound.config”
2. Starbound.config
This is a file that contains all the options to tweak the game, most of which we don’t need to change. However, you are looking for a phrase called “vsync true,” or “vsync false,”. An easy way to find that is with ctrl F, this is a searching tool to help find words on a document, and enter in vsync.
Your screen should look like that. Now simply change vsync to true or false, then save the document.
Your screen tearing should be fixed. I got the information from this thread, give the credit to them https://steamcommunity.com/app/211820/discussions/0/1620600279657005358/
On a tangent, this seems to fix most minor graphical artifacts on most games. However most games have that in the options menu, rather than this poorly optimized game. Its been out for two years man, just put it in the graphics menu!
