I'm Dekkii, or Dan, whatever you prefer! 32, he/him, professional rock eater (geologist); educator and country bumpkin boy.
I'm a hobby artist, occasional writer and part of the Outer Wilds Geological Survey Team!
This blog is almost entirely Outer Wilds focused, and it's where I also post my art and my writing! I mainly post about my OCs, so if that's your jam, thanks for sticking around!
I have recently gotten into 3D modelling and am looking forward to working more on this skill this year!
I also regularly stream Outer Wilds content and art on Twitch!
just a little love letter to one of my all-time favorite games.
Sorry about the terrible quality, my computer hates me.
Commentary/rambles under the cut ::)
For this piece, I wanted to commemorate all of the moments in this game that hit me hardest, or were most satisfying to solve. So, clockwise:
The Orbital Probe Cannon: I struggled with navigating the OPC so much. If I remember correctly, I died twice, then spent AGES searching for the third module in orbit before suffocating, since my oxygen was used as fuel. BUT WHEN I FOUND IT!!!
Slate: Talking to Slate (which I did most loops), always made me so sad. They will never know. They see you gasp awake after being eaten, or suffocating, or getting smushed by sand, and will never know why.
The Quantum Shrine: I had a lot of OW spoiled for me, because I watched a playthrough after thinking I wouldn't ever play it, since I only have a switch (and didn't realize it was on switch). However, the playthrough I watched didn't solve the shrine, so I did it myself, and got to organically discover Solanum.
Nomai Gravesite (Pod 3): Another discovery I made by myself (and quite a sad one).
Ash Twin Warp Towers: This gave me hell. I knew what to do, had completely filled out the ship's log, and kept second-guessing myself after failing the warp and getting sucked up by sand 3 loops in a row. But then I found the Ash twin project and cried. Worth it.
Chert: My (genderless) boi!! Also has the honor of making me cry for the first time in this game, after telling them that the sun was dying and watching them have a panic attack. I spent the rest of the loop with them.
Riebeck: I just love them. They were my default path to the hanging city for a very long time, just so I could visit my friend.
Interloper Core: The audio log in here made me cry, partially because Poke and Pye remind me of my sister and I.
woah whats this mudd is drawing nomai now wow finally
anyway throws Sycamore at you
he's probably the universe's most asshole Nomai architect hailing from a small scale clan of scrappers and junkers, drifting the universe and salvaging space debris for their own research ad technology
by small scale clan I mean smallll scale he'll be accompanied by probably about 5 other Nomai ocs when I have the time to design them and think them and their dynamics through better C::
i'll probably be making content of these guys on the side of Cosmic Hitchhiker, they are still apart of the same au !! They just won't be having any interaction with the Hearthians,,, probably.........?? maybe idk i type this now and now i'm thinking that could be fun actually. OKAY NOT AS OF RIGHT NOW ATLEAST...
I did my best with the rocks. I regret not giving Slate slate for legs as well though (I did in the little drawings). Esker was going to look like a small esker but then they started to look like something else familiar and like I had to. I also should have done the smart thing and practiced drawing Eridians beforehand but I was excited haha. Also Feldspar makes harmonica noises.
Yay! Stein's base markings and outfit reference is all done! I'm so pleased with how their back markings turned out - and I made a few very minor tweaks to their silhouette and signature jacket - but other than that, they're pretty much the same old Stein ready to offer a listening ear and a nice pint at On The Rocks!
Just their big "main" reference to sort for Art Fight now and then I'm nearly finished with updating everyone!
