a chance encounter

Rush hour was probably her most hated time of the day. It felt entirely too congested and taxing to deal with. It was bad enough she was going to be pulling an all-nighter to finish a project thanks to two of her classmates screwing up an important part before it was to be presented. Tapping on her phone impatiently, her attention was only on the message she was typing out in her messaging application. Occasionally, she sipped at her coffee, not wanting to lose focus on what she needed to say.
Eyes glued to the screen and her mind elsewhere, Juniper walked with her head down. Her pace quickened, wanting nothing more than to get out of this endless sea of people. Suddenly, she felt her shoulder hit another’s and she stopped.
Juniper lost her balance and a warm liquid dripped down her shirt. Her coffee? Great. Her eyes traveled to her shirt, which was now splattered with brown stains. Her poor coffee cup lay on the other side of her and her phone was buzzing.
“ I guess I got the bad end of this, huh?” She asked, a small laugh bursting from her mouth. She probably looked absolutely ridiculous but she didn’t care. It was her fault for being an idiot and not watching where she was going.
