Athena licked her lips, while not really appreciating the undertone of this conversation, she could not help but crack a smile at the peacock comment.  She could relate to Apollo, she understood even, but she had just a bigger picture in mind. She uncrossed her arms and sighed.  “Try dealing with her stubborn offspring.”  The slip was maybe not the smartest for the Goddess, but Ares was just her pressure point on so many levels that it made her lose her temper more than once, and it was in that particular setting that  whatever Apollo said came up. “Can I now give my brother what I came to give him or do I need to first address it to the paper’s owner anonymously?” 

“Hmmmm....” He pretended to think it over, standing and pushing away from the desk to fiddle with some trivial ornament but she had his attention and they both knew it. Curiousity was, perhaps, the most common trait amongst their kin, uniting an otherwise almost entirely disparate breed, and he knew their shared brother could aggravate her more than he could ever hope. They each had their gangrenous branches of the family tree. Finally, he concluded his feigned errand and turned to observe her. 

“So... in essence, you’re saying... you have come to make an offering.”  A pennace, even. He was putting words in her mouth and he knew it, but this allowed him to move past his displeasure with logic and order. In this way, he could justify to himself a balance in the world- a wrong, and its right. 

Though they perhaps did vegence best, barring truly impassable injury the immortal gods were too long-lived to hold grudges against their ilk. Mostly.

He smiled, childlike and eager. 

“Well then, dear sister, give away.”
