Thank you mushroomtale for the push, for putting up with the occasional distressed whining despite my overall uptightness about this because I had no confidence to show what I was doing, lmao. OTL OTL ;;; *breathes* Thank you. <3 Thank you, karanapwnzfaces for that one time I groused at you as well. :)       Below are just my personal ramblings, feel free to skip (do skip it). 

I’m alive, yes. RL got in the way, as well as my mood towards my own stuff and just, my general mental state. I think I’m in a slightly better position now than I was before though. Here’s hoping. :) Ah this was something that started out as a half-assed pencil lineart on my notebook that I just meant to lazy-colour (I swear)... some kind of washed-out style so I could get away with not putting in too much effort. But it sort of went all over the place in the end and turned into this. At the time, I thought I could get it done in less than a week. (Ha! That was abnormally optimistic of me. My predictions were sorely off, to put it mildly.) I guess this could be a high-fantasy AU (yes, again) or a future-canon-era AU with fancier outfits? :))) I gave Merlin lots of hair because that’s a.... Thing I cannot resist doing (actually, I think I overdid Arthur’s too ahh). Shaggy-haired!Merlin! Yes!! I despaired of, among other things... Merlin’s eyes. I tried so hard to change them into a sort of semi-realistic look... (less anime, please, god) But all the repaints just ended up looking weirder so back to the first variation it went. *flops over* And the robes.... I wrestled so much with it. Was going for more of a ‘classy jedi chic’ aesthetic instead of ‘unwashed sack-rag’, I wonder which side won.... OTL And the wind and lighting are just... whatever. *nervous laughter*

111014; dragon & the dragonlord; BBC Merlin high-res 1 2 ||

So I've been craving high-fantasy merthur fics lately. A while ago I dug up and re-read Footloose's dragon!fic drafts again and... this doodle came out somewhat based from that. Ahhhh I love those drafts so much! I hope they get finished eventually.   I think I've gone through all my epic-fantasy merthur favourites 10910920912020 times... ;;;; Need moreee ficsss. Excerpt:

The man wore nothing but trousers fastened tight around his waist but loose at the legs. The fabric was a dark, bronze colour shimmering and flaring with reds and golds, and it wasn't until that moment that Arthur realized they were made of fine dragon scale. He was barefoot; he wore no shirt or cloak or vestment against the chill, but he didn't seem to mind the cold. On that expanse of milky skin, over the lines of muscle and faint trail of dark hair, there was not a single mark. "Your Majesty," the man said, and his voice was crystalline, with an undertone of an earth-shaking growl that touched Arthur's soul and wouldn't let go. 011014; arthur & merlin (as students!); BBC Merlin dA fullstrip || high-res 1 2 3 || AO3 Arthur just really likes the new transfer student, okay.  Something simple and less stressful this time. I prefer shaggy-haired Merlin.<33 Meant to be a doodle though I got a little enthusiastic about unnecessary things (like the stickers on Merlin's notebook & Arthur's jacket). Just wanted a reason to draw glasses!Merlin, really. Lol. (He's a prodigy and is rapidly becoming the darling of all the professors). Ahhhh I'm sorry for their weird expressions and weirder anatomy and oh god, I can't do backpacks, apparently. Coloured with markers and Photoshop-cheated with the paneling.

What started this: the burning urge to draw golden-eyed (because I've never done that before) BAMF!Merlin, and BAMF!Arthur fighting side-by-side. I had a clear image in my head of scale-patterns on Merlin's robes, which was the actual thing I was excited to do, ngl. Later I realised a bit hysterically that I needed a scenario to put them in and everything sort of escalated to the point of ridiculousness...  Backgrounds/composition aren't my strongest suits. There was also a period of utter hell at work, I hit several metaphorical walls with the composition and such, and RL got in the way so many times. Hence, this took months to finish because I'd had to steal time to do this (and not because I actually worked on it nonstop haha). And sometimes I was just not in the mood. ;; It really shouldn't have taken that long but. Well. I tend to be really ‘my pace’ when working on fanarts, lol. Uhh might lay off the medieval-era stuff for a bit and do modern AUs after this as a change of perspective. Simpler things, maybe. This has been pretty exhausting. But I'm so weak for high-fantasy stuff so I'd probably end up unnecessarily complicating my life again lol. 

(Also, those two are just being flirty idiots. Leave it in the royal bedchambers, boys! Everyone knows it's literally impossible for Merlin's magic to ever hurt a single follicle on Arthur's head.)

arthur & merlin; BBC Merlin high-res 1 2 || dA full  || AO3 DOOOONEEEEEE. Bigger version with the two pics combined are over at my deviantart.  One of the wip stuff from last time. I finally finally decided to just get it over with. Everything started to look really wonky after working on this for so long (like, their faces. Oh man, how I angsted over their faces). And I missed the anniversary of the finale.

Wanted Merlin looking unabashedly magic and Arthur being utterly captivated in return. Pfffhhh. /flings self off the battlements  Bit of a fantasy-AU, I guess. Originally intended this to be accompanied by some (possibly very corny) epic-fantasy type of lines but that's probably a terrible idea, idk. Feel free to imagine the exchange. Maybe Arthur thinks he's really suave at this flirting thing but he really isn't, lol. Done with markers, touch-ups and background textures in SAI + Photoshop.

Some Merlin stuff I have so far. The bottom one(s) are getting coloured at the moment. I mourned how the drawing looked much better as a sketch before I started inking it. And there’s no undo button… ha ha. I’m attempting a rescue effort, it’s a slow process.
