@denstrovande
Tony is doing well.
The fall apples are nearly ready to harvest too! Hoping to can apple pie filling.
Dug up all my potatoes today. Considerably more than whatâs in the third picture, as that was just the first row.
Had about 8 or 9 that were around 2, 2 1/2 pounds. I donât care for russets but thatâs what we were able to get this year, so better than no potatoes at all.
Update
Well been awhile since Iâve been on here. Since my last update, the basement flooded, and I joined the Coast Guard. So Iâve been working on the next adventure in my life!
In the meantime, some nice fall pictures to refresh this blog.

Question time: Who or what got you into fish keeping?
For me, it started as my way of keeping/gaining control over at least something in my life, and became the rock I latched onto during the tough first years in college. I am 100% convinced that my fish were what kept me from self harming. And here I am, almost 4 years later, still loving my fat goldfish. <3
And your goldfish love you, Iâm sure!! Theyâre very happy that youâre okay.
Deciding I wanted a betta as a college pet
I saved up money all summer from my very first job to get a car to which my mom said, âyou wonât be able to afford insurance, gas etc etcâ. I was actively searching for a car and my dad was supportive and helping me. Hearing this I was pissed and decided to go out to a pet store that night and spend a pretty penny on a tank and a betta. My mom didnât want any more pets so the fish was a little revenge in a sense. I loved him and it wasnât much later that I accumulated 8 tanks. 3 years later and I still have some of the same fish. (And a car).
I impulse-bought my first betta fish after a bad break up! My little fishy helped me through it. Sheâs my icon :)
I rescued two (now deceased) bettas from the college I worked at. The first one was left in the shower in his bowl, with some food, while everyone was at Christmas break, and the second was left in a tiny bowl in green water in the laundry room, over Spring break.
Terrarium of native midwestern wetlands grass, and java moss from my now vacant betta tank.
January
My betta, Fish, passed on at 4 this morning very suddenly. He was very happy and active up until last night, even making a quite large bubble nest, but then he became extremely pale and weak. His heater became faulty and I couldnât get it to produce any heat. I donât know if this is what caused his demise or not, however this is the second faulty heater Iâve purchased from Aquatop.
Regardless, I now have a tank with only java moss in it and Iâm not sure if the moss is worth buying another heater for.Â
