Speaking as someone who has dealt with my own suicidal thoughts and losing friends to suicide, don’t call them weak. Yes dealing with the pain of losing a loved one is a pain like no other. Having to deal with the thought that your friend or family member chose suicide because they couldn’t handle their demons anymore is heart wrenching. But telling someone to just get help with their depression is not going to work. They could sit in someone’s office paying thousands of dollars and still not get the help that they need. Therapy is not a sure thing. Taking medication is not a sure thing. Yes you may have dealt with depression, but not everyone is hurting the same way. The way that helped you is not going to help the next person. We all have different triggers and different safe heavens. So don’t call someone weak till you’ve been exactly in their shoes.
