Amicable and encouraging, Quinn placed a gentle hand on the outside of Desdemonaâs and said, âWe can change that. Just give it some time.â
Then she got distracted from how flustered Des was getting and the Gryffindorâs question when she noticed Freddy stirring in bed. The Seer pulled the duvet up and over her head, and Quinn grinned mischievously. She carefully set the mug of coffee down, put a conspiratorial shh! finger over her lips at Des, then took a running start in her socked feet and full-on leapt through the air like a flying squirrel onto the covered blob that was Freddy. The Hufflepuff groaned and Q sprawled, belly-up, and needled brightly, âRise and shine, Freddy-kins! The sky is awake so Iâm awake! GetupgetupgetupgetupâŠâ
Soft voices stirred Freddy from her thankfully dreamless sleep, the sun was a thousand times too bright and her mouth stuck together like spun sugar. Turning over Freddy buried herself into her pillows with a low pitched whine, getting up wasnât an optioâ
âQuuuuuuuuuuuuew,â Freddy groaned dragging out the syllable in the worst type of whine, âI donât wanna get up, five more minutes.â Reaching a hand out from her cocooning of blankets Freddy patted the top of Qâs head with a sleep-warm hand, dragging her fingers through her hair and tapped against her cheek. âI donât wanna get up,â Qâs voice however kept driving into her brain, over and over and over and, âokay fine,â sitting up Freddy wrapped her arms around Q, handling her friend like a teddy bear to cuddle in a lazy hug. âGâmorning moonshine,â tilting her neck to the side she gently pushed Q to lie next to her then found Des looking up at them both.
Freddy smiled, wide and bright, âGood morning Dizzy,â her lips tingled, did Des remember? Freddy had drunk the night through, danced through much of it but the one of the only bright spots of memory were Desâs lips on hers, the press of her figners and - oh! Oh nargles. A high flush grew on her cheek, her voice cracked like Kyâs when they were 13 and gangly, âH-how are you? Didja sleep okay?â

Des shuddered when Quinn was so loud. It was still too early and her head hurt too much. âMorning Freddyâ Des whispered as she gave a small smile over the rim of her mug. What Quinn said about things changing made Des happy. She would really like more friends. She loved Freddy but she felt bad relying on her as her only friend all the time. Plus the more the merrier, right? Des felt warm when Freddy called her by her nickname. Did she always feel like this? She wasnât even sure anymore. All she could think of was how warm her cheeks felt despite everything being totally normal.. Yep nothing was different at all. Why would anything be different? Why would the cute little crack in Fredâs voice make Des blush harder? âIâm good. Quinn was nice enough to get me coffee. Did you sleep well?â She desperately hoped that Freddy wasnât going to regret the kiss because it would absolutely crush her. Des sometimes wish she didnât crush so hard and so fast. It was painful and didnât usually end well for her. âLast night was fun.â she said in a hushed tone.
