honestly I’m on Adams side because why would you want ex murders, rapist and abusers in heaven, I truly believe that nobody in hazbin should be redeemed because they all are in hell for a reason, even angle dust I think doesn’t deserve to be redeemed because he was in the mafia and killed people, I don’t care if they changed they all did horrible stuff and don’t deserve redemption. Hazbin hotel would make so much more sense if the plot was about people going to hell because they aren’t Christians but bad people going to heaven because they are Christian, while having Charlie fight heaven into letting the actual good people in
Sorry for the rant I really hate hazbin hotel
i somewhat agree with this, but theres also a lot of other factors to consider on the whole who can or can't be redeemed.
TW! mentions of: drug overdose, rape/rapists
for one, even though angel dust is the least favorite of the cast for me, being in the mafia and killing people is pretty hard to discern whether he willingly joined the kills or was pressured and forced to by his family. OR, was simply just raised with that way of thinking and thats all he knew. doesnt make murder right or excuse what he did wrong, but murder under those circumstances has space to develop and understand towards a better path for someone like angel dust who clearly wasnt happy even alive being in the mafia.
his death was by drug overdose. whether that was on purpose or an accident, its still telling on what kind of mindset angel dust was in before death and how it continued into his life in hell
and even with this in mind, it also doesnt deny the big plot point in hazbin that heaven may not be entirely right in their ways and have possible corruption. canonically no one actually knows (at least in the heaven's courtroom) what makes someone a good enough person to be in heaven.
for now we have no set of rules, but seeing how the Cherubs in Helluva Boss were kicked out of heaven just because they unintentionally killed someone, says that theyre likely very strict and unfair in their expectations of not only winners but their own kind
also, adam is someone who has clearly shown to be part of this corruption as someone who is an angel (or some sort of heaven-species). hes egotistical, murders (mostly) defenseless people by the hundreds (even if some were geniunely abhorrent people, murder itself by the morals of heaven is wrong, yet adam can do a genocide without consquences) , also ENJOYS the killing, clearly sexist/misogynistic, and in general not a good person.
by adam's presence alone its clear heaven is not only corrupt, but hypocritical as adam is a clear contender to be in hell and not in heaven. yet hes been there since likely the beginning of everything being the first man
now, that is not to say everyone deserves a chance, because theres MANY that dont. Valentino being the biggest example of this for the obvious reasons. there are some genuinely god awful people that do not deserve this redemption and should face their life in hell for eternity. and no amount of forgiveness or change could ever redeem a rapist.
i hope to god that hazbin hotel acknowledges this and doesnt go to even lower lows than they have already taken
to summarize my point, redemption is a morally grey and complex subject, and that is what i believe hazbin hotel is trying to tell in its story.
at least thats my interpretation— i would not be surprised if this suddenly got turned on its head and be black and white in the stories morals because vivziepop can never be consistent on what she actually wants in her writing 💀
