Everything was silent around Castiel, but the feeling of dread and fear was clear in his chest. He could hear himself breathing quickly as he stared at the burning house. He turned back to look at the man, who was crying and repeating the same thing over and over. It took Castiel a moment to understand what he was saying but he suddenly got it.
“Mary.”
That was her name, the blond woman he kept dreaming about and she hadn’t made it out of the house. An inexplicable sense of fear and need grew in him. He had to go get her! He had to go back in there and save her! Why was no one doing anything!
“Mary!” He screamed but the small body he had in this dream was not moving, it just held the baby and stared at the burning house. “Someone go save her!” He screamed but no one could hear him.
“Please! Anyone! Save her!”
Then just as suddenly as it started, the dream was over.

A new town with a new identity every week, or if they were lucky, a month. That had been Dean and John’s life ever since Alastair forced the omega into a mating. In the eyes of the law, Dean was Alastair’s, and the only thing that could get him out of it was if Dean found his soulmate. However, he didn’t need another abusive alpha chasing after him. Luckily, Dean hadn’t run into his soulmate and he and his dad have been doing just fine for a life on the run. Until they got a little too comfortable and Alastair’s employees surprised them. Separated from his dad with very little money and barely any blockers left, Dean was screwed. Things couldn’t get worse, oh wait, they could when he runs into his soulmate.
Finding your soulmate was like finding a needle in a haystack. It was possible, it happened, but Castiel knew of people who went their whole lives never finding their soulmate. So why bother putting much thought into it? That was how the alpha felt until he went to stop a group of alphas from attacking an omega and woke up with a soul mark on his bicep. Summary
Dean Winchester loves his life. He has a good job in Bobby's garage, he volunteers as an educator in Bobby's House, which takes in orphans in need. And he is resigned to the idea of never finding his soulmate. He’s over 30 now, and in any case he knows he’s damaged. He doesn’t believe that someone could be condemned to be paired with him. And there's less chance that that someone is Castiel, his best friend and fellow volunteer at Bobby's House. It doesn't matter that Dean has been in love with him for years.
Dean Winchester loves his life. Until Claire, the latest kid taken into Bobby's House, decides to complicate his life, and Cas decides it's time to start dating someone to settle down.

“I love you,” he whispered, just before Cas closed the distance between them.
Cas' lips were warm, soft, maybe a little chapped, and Dean kissed them with all the reverence and love he was capable of.
Then something hit Dean's mind and his body began to tremble, bitter tears poured copiously and uncontrollably, ending up between Cas' fingers.
There was no pain in his chest.
The mark was not completed.

After John Winchester’s first soulmate died he got a second soulmate letter and couldn’t wait to start a new family. He left older son Dean to raise younger son Sam. Sam’s doing really well in college. Dean’s working at Bobby Singer’s Auto Shop where he’s well-liked, and well-respected, and good at what he does. He keeps a clean house and he’s even going to the grocery store to buy fruits and vegetables (take that, Sammy!).
Then he finds The Borderlands, a book and game store opened by Charlie Bradbury and her partner/soulmate Dorothy Baum, and his life changes completely. There’s this book that he picks up while he’s waiting at the cash register that zaps him, and what the heck?
Sam Winchester gets a conventional soulmate letter, and a beautiful blonde soulmate that wants to marry him in some kind of ‘destination wedding’.
Dean gets a book called “Letters from Eternity” that zaps him every time he tries to take it out of the bookstore. It’s got a weird inscription that Charlie says is Enochian. And all it is is a collection of letters written by people to their soulmates. So why him? He’s not even sure he wants a soulmate.
At the edge of Eternity, a “multidimensional waveform of celestial intent” realizes that the Soul they chose as their destiny at the Beginning has found their communication, but may not want them.

Dean lives in a world where, sometimes, a person will gain a blue mark on their skin wherever their soulmate will touch them first. Whenever the soulmate touches them, the blue coloring goes away, and it should remove the mark entirely. Unfortunately, things don't always work out for the Winchesters. John thinks soulmates are a curse, and hates the concept of them entirely; when Dean develops a mark, he has to hide it.
Since getting the mark, Dean starts having dreams of a 'mystery man' he's never seen before. For years, he wonders if maybe it's a clue to his soulmate: when the dreams end up having a connection to the person he was fated to meet, whether it be for better or worse, he must learn to navigate this newfound 'relationship' of sorts - things aren't easy, though, when his soulmate is adverse to talking about it at all. Cue Dean's frustration and unfortunate infatuation.
