Little by little, his magical powers were returning. It was something that brought him a little bit of comfort. The magic that had been entrusted to him, Beatoâs precious magic, was once again in his care. But that only meant that the possibility of other witches regaining their magic was very real. And if this was the case, what if someone like Bernkastel ended up regaining more powerful magic than him? What if he became incapable of stopping her once she decided to toy around with the entire city out of boredom? It was a frightening thought.
And yet, he knew he couldnât just cower if that turned out to be the case. If he couldnât get in Bernkastelâs way, then one else here could. Even knowing that most of these people were strong, the witches were.. on a plane that transcended mere strength. If only he had more of his allies here with him. The closest thing he had was aunt Eva, but she seemed to have reverted back to the monster from the third game. A frustrated groan escaped his lips at the thought of having to deal with her too. And then.. there was her.
"Our meetings have been pretty scarce. Have we been avoiding each other, or is it just a coincidence? Well, in your case, I can understand why you wouldnât want to see my face, Furudo Erika."
He didnât even have to turn to see her. He could literally feel her presence. It made his skin crawl due to remembrance of their past history. The things theyâd gone through. The things sheâd done to him. It wasnât something he could forget so easily. And he knew her well enough to know that she was most likely on Bernkastelâs side as well. Another adversary to worry about, even though he didnât want to consider her as such. Because in the end, she was just being used by Bernkastel. Yet she remained loyal.
"Of course, it was just a coincidence, Battler-san.", An air that reeked of hostility reeked out of her, "Oh, I see you are still wearing that ridiculous looking cape.", Erika wore a fake smile as she remarked on his ridiculous attire. It's not like she hadn't heard of him since he had arrived in the city. The man stirred up storms where ever he goes it seemed.
The hostility was no wonder though, the last she had seen of him she had lost to him and that fake witch, Beatrice. There burned within her a will to get payback for the defeat she suffered. She had waited for the day when she would be able to pay him back for that loss. Would that day be today, has yet to be seen.
"So, why are you here? Another girl out to stab you in the back?", Erika mocked the man and his romantic troubles. Even if there was a new one though, Erika was unlikely to help given her current disposition. Unless of course, it would let her one-up the man.
you ain't nothin' but a hound dog (erika)
It was unusual to find Nonon dressed in something other than her Goku Uniform in Hive City. She knew just how dangerous the city was first hand, which meant it was imperative to be prepared at any moment to defend herself. And yet⊠her Goku Uniform was still a piece of clothing. It still needed to be washed, which meant washing it daily. Normally sheâd just do it in her own house, but the machine was broken so it had been off to the local laundromat dressed in a jean skirt and hoodie.
After dropping off her laundry, she had some time to kill and decided to simply âkick itâ in and around the area. It was evening, now, and the setting sun was casting an orange glow on the city. Signs of spring were finally beginning to show up, so at the very least she didnât need a jacket, thankfully.
Taking a break near a vending machine, Nonon downed an entire soda in a matter of moments before crumpling the can with her bare hands, before tossing it over her shoulder and into the garbage. Or so sheâd intended, but it actually hit an unfamiliar young woman with blue hair instead. Peering over her shoulder, the Snake could only remark snidely. âAh. Shouldnât have been standing there.â
Erika had been worked to the bone recently. Her less than affectionate master had moved into her apartment within the last few weeks. And with her came all her clothing as well. With twice the load of laundry and only one laundry room in her building, the answer was, of course, to use a laundromat if there was any extra. Yet, obviously it wouldn't be her master one doing any of the work, that fell all on Erika's shoulders. So, when she had stepped in the laundromat only to be hit on the head with can of soda. Things weren't looking up in the girl's life who threw it, as a dark look appeared on Erika's face only to be quickly be replaced as she turned around.
"Is there any sign that says I shouldn't stand here? I don't believe there is.", Erika replied curtly to the girl's snide remark. "Clearly the fault lies with you."
She made no effort to pick up the fallen can despite it lying easily within reach. It wasn't her job to pick up for someone's trash.

Unable to keep in a dejected sigh, Rika slumped her shoulders, rubbing her forehead. She could feel the beginnings of a headache, this whole town overwhelming. Everyone just ran past her, not paying any attention. She rubbed her eyes, making a small sound, before perking her head up when she heard someone near her.
"MâŠasterâŠ?" She was used to being called many things, but master was not one of them. Maybe this person was mistaken?
She looked up, noting the personâs appearance. She⊠looked strangely like herself. âŠodd.
"Mii⊠Yes, this is my first time."
"It is bigâŠ" She smiled up at this person. "You seem familiar with it, nano desu."
The same voice... or at least, very similar. There was something different about it. An air to it that was more innocent than her master's.
"Well, I have been here for almost 5 months now. It would be embarrassing if I wasn't familiar by now." Answering the girl's comment. She had truly been here for a long while. Long enough to get antiquated with the area and general layout of the city.
The crowds passed by the girls as they talked. This street was usually busy at this time of day. Though, there were always people bustling to and fro to get the best deals in this part of the city. It was like a pack of sheep being led by a herder, is what Erika thought.
"My name is Furudo Erika, it's pleasure to meet you.", Erika curtseyed to the girl, "Your name would be?", She prodded for more information towards the girl's identity.
Roommates
This is her first time in months getting an actual sleep. Sheâd been totally uncomfortable with her housing before and although she did not like the smell of the room due to it being filled with Erikaâs aura, she did not mind in the slightest but really, everything would have been perfectly fine if no one bothered her deep slumber. She valued darkness very much for itâs where she feels very safe; unharmed. Itâs when the very object that was providing her that significant lack of light was removed that made her scream in agony as her eyes werenât prepared for the sudden dim beams coming out of nowhere.
Not only did her mouth, her eyes screamed in pain as well. She was enjoying a very relaxing sleep but was disturbed in a rather annoying manner that brought her to suddenly throw a tantrum. Itâs not supposed to be a big deal but the witch acted like it was. She rushes to jolt the time and noticed that itâs not even early enough for Erika to have a very acceptable reason to wake her up. Her doubleâs carelessness greatly pissed her off and without warning did she kick the pillows off the bed and covered her face with the bed sheet.
Angered, she took the sheet off of her and proceeded to scold her so called daughter. Itâs true that Bernkastelâs receiving special treatment, but she is Erikaâs master and she believed she didnât deserve to be troubled with something so stupid as an old saying.
"I donât care how long you prepared that filth you called tea but if you think itâs so special that using it as a very acceptable excuse to bother me in my sleep then let me drink it so Iâll have a reason to kick your face afterwards!â Bernkastel is still not over it. She was curled up in a ball after all. âDonât even think about doing it again!â

» exploring the new fragment { ca open }
As soon as she could, Rika had hidden in her âhouseâ. If you could call it a house. It was more of a hole in the wall. Actually, it was a literal hole in the wall. For a few days, she had stayed in this house, only venturing out, stepping across strewn tomes and and books on the ground, picking up random books and reading them, soaking up whatever information she could to fill her time.
Her curiosity of te outside world had been dampened by loneliness and the familiar hopelessness of depression. She had passed by the rotting staircase many times, only to ignore it, going back to her home. many time she found herself running her fingers across her ceremonial hoe, the only remnant from her old life in Hinamizawa.
One day, she heard footsteps, and peeked out from her home. She saw a figure running up the staircase.
"What am I doing" She whispered to herself, clenching her palms. She suddenly felt stupid. What was she doing? Hiding here? Was she going to starve herself, seclude herself?
Enough was enough.
Taking a deep breath, she slipped on her sandels, once again stepping out into that vast, decaying library, up to the central staircase. The pads of her fingers ran against the corroded metal, as she took one tentative step, then another, then another, until she could hear the repeating sounds of her feet against the rusting steps. She went faster, seeing light from above, sprinting up the steps even though she could recall her mother scolding her for doing that. Pushing the memories aside, her breath came out in pants as she ran faster and faster, desperate to get to that light, to get away from the murky and moldy smell she had grown so accustomed to.Â
Finally she stepped out, for the first time, taking a good look at her surroundings. When she first came here, she was in a daze, not taking in anything, but nowâŠ
She was surrounded by⊠shops? Stores? Everything she could imagine. Shop keepers were bustling, even people buying things.
"This place is⊠huge." She said out loud.
On her way to do errands, the detective had come across a peculiar person. Erika noticed upon first glance, the girl looked to be out of breath, possibly from running by the looks of it. But, before even that, there was something something else, something extremely familiar about her...
"My master?", Erika exclaimed in surprise. The girl had a very striking resemblance to her master, Lady Bernkastel. But, that couldn't be right, could it? Bernkastel should still be back at the apartment, there was a possibility she had left, but that remained to be seen. Another thing was to Erika's knowledge, she had never seen her master wear anything similar to the girl's attire. So, the question then rose to her mind, who could this girl be? This type of thing, for someone like Erika, couldn't go unnoticed. She had to get to the bottom of this mystery and find the truth.
That said, the girl seemed to be distracted with the size of the area, or perhaps it was the city itself? Either way, Erika couldn't see how someone could be in awe over something like that.
"Yes, the market is quite big.", Erika replied to the girl's comment, "Is this your first time here?"
"Humorous as it is, we canât completely deny his obnoxious theory unless we know what options we have. Devilâs Proof to be exact." The same with how Battler overthrew the golden witch by providing a comeback of small bombs. No matter how funny the idea is, thereâs no way to prove if it doesnât really exists. It was never denied in red anyway.
She sat down on an elegant chair across the detective, raising a brow at the sudden suggestion. âWhat did you just say, Erika? Were you speaking to me?â Whatever Erikaâs thinking; what kind of nonsensical foolishness they were so long as it will assist the witch of miracles in gaining her abilities back, might as well swallow the disgusting thought of having to rest in her pieceâs bed. Erika needs to prepare if thatâs the case. She might ask her to buy some ethanol.
She wouldnât put it past Erika to want such a thing. Besides, her piece do know the consequences of living alongside her so warning the detective about her future roundabouts werenât necessary. Empty glance slowly dropped on the ground before her cruel voice was heard again. âSure, I approve. Be aware that you wonât get to sleep beside me no matter how pleasant my mood is. Feel free to change your mind.â
Erika was surprised that her master accepted the proposal so easily. She had thought for sure that she would have had to put up more of a fight before that idea came to fruition. Either way, she was happy that Bernkastel had accepted.
"There's no need to worry, I wouldn't dream of such a thing, my master.", Though she would likely break this promise, "Do you need to pack anything? I'm living in Z-2 right now. I'll show you the way." A variety of things flew out of Erika's mouth at rapid succession showing how Erika was more than ready to prove herself a competent piece to her master.
The two had then set off to move Bernkastel into Erika's apartment. The move was rather quick all things considered. Though, of course, Erika had to move all her master's things herself without any help. But, despite that, the very fact that Bern accepted meant that things were looking up at least for the moment.
Roommates [@Bernkastel]
Erika was ecstatic over the fact that her master had actually accepted the invitation to move into her apartment. The move had gone pretty easily all things considered. Since Bern had moved in, she had taken over the bed. Erika was more than fine with sleeping in a chair or on the ground for her master... Of course, she had tried to sneak into bed with Bern a few nights, with little success. But, besides that, there had been no major issues from Erika's perspective. Things were going just great... at least for now.
"My master, it's time to get up!! I made you some of your favorite dried plum tea!", Erika exclaimed loudly at the crack of dawn. Erika had gotten the idea the night before that she should surprise her master with a pot of her favorite tea.
As it was still early in the morning, Bern seemed to not be up yet. Erika might have woken up a bit earlier than normal people. Noticing Bern seemed to not respond to her first call, Erika set the pot of tea down on the floor and approached the bed.
"Come on, my master, the early bird catches the worm, after all! You can't stay in bed all day!", Erika chimed again and in an attempt to wake her master up, perhaps a bit too eager, Erika attempted to rip the covers off the bed.

network, jaded, escape
Network :: Are they connected to the people? How much do they reach out to others?
She isnât that connected to that many people for the most part. She will usually assume the worst in people and rarely trusts anyone. She will reach out to people, but itâs more of a formality for her. They are people that she feels she has to get along. As she will watch them as if they were a culprit of some crime or trying to pull one over on her.
Jaded :: Do they buy into the âhappily ever afterâ ideal? Whatâs their standard?
As said before, she doesnât really trust people besides rare exceptions. Any âhappily ever afterâ would just be an illusion in her eyes. She wouldnât be able to accept it in her current mindset and think there was some trick behind it or it was just one big lie.
Escape :: What do they do to destress? How successful is it?
Sometimes if she is stressed, she will let it out through violence, mocking, and other abusive behavior towards the thing/people in question that are stressing her or causing her stress (unless it is Bern) or pretty much anyone in the general vicinity that looks at her wrong. How successful? Not much? Maybe a bit?
Though she can have more normal de-stressing, as it really depends on the thing that is stressing her out⊠sleeping it off or taking time alone to cool down are other examples.

Speaking of mystery [Closed]
Two months⊠Although the words sank in quickly, it did surprise her slightly. How had no one noticed the Detective had been gone for so long? Sure, the blue haired witch wasnât the type for frivolous meetings for the sake of just interacting, but it was still strange. âI SEE.â Then again, if anyone had noticed it was probably Bernkastel, and god knows the Witch of Miracles would likely pay little attention to that fact.
When the conversation took a turn, Dlanorâs expression became contemplative, curious eyes locked on her friend. The 6th game? âIs it not a little late to ask about that GAME?â She felt at a loss at Erikaâs interest in what she deemed an old game, but perhaps the inquiry was only fair. âConcerning the gameboard, I believe <Lord> Battler held a ceremony to regather the pieces and give the game a proper ENDING. He married <miss> Beatrice.â
Briefly, she wondered if there was any need to share the details that predated the last game, but there was really no reason to hide it. âWe tried searching for you afterwards, but we failed numerous TIMES. The depths of oblivion were too vast, and we lacked clues of your WHEREABOUTS.â That was rather vexing to admit, definitely not any easier than telling Battler during that party, but she delivered the information as she would any other report.
The change in conversation, even if it came to a serious topic, was welcomed, however. âYes, I was aware of that FACT.â From both her experience and that of those she had met so far. âSome of the residents Iâve spoken to mentioned there are ways to lessen the limitations on our powers, although neither seemed certain of these METHODS. It seems not many have truly devoted themselves to actively trying to find a way out of this FRAGMENT.âÂ
"Tch", Erika clicked her tongue as her expression started to sour. She had expected as much, but hearing it still put her in a foul mood.
"Maybe if you just hired some competent subordinates that weren't looking in the wrong places like fools... Hmph, whatever.", It made sense that they were not able to find her as she had been taken to this city, but, with Erika's mood fouled by the aforementioned news she just had to take a jab at her friend's 'uselessness'. She was still angry over her loss she suffered and having a tantrum like a child.
"They are simply fools who have given up. There is no way this fragment can't be won.", Erika was determined to pay back those scientists for what they did that one time.
But, what Dlanor said before bugged her. Why would asking this be considered late? It's true that it had been 2 months since the game, but there was no possible way for Erika to have found out about the game since she had been trapped in this city.
"But, what do you mean by 'a little late' as to the 6th game?", Something felt off about the way she had reacted.
