Spring Activities You Can Drive to Near Devils Lake, ND

1. LRPL Spring Book Sale

Lake Region Public Library is throwing its semi-annual spring book sale. This is the time to stock up on books, games, office supplies, and more. At the same time, the sale benefits library programming and college scholarships.

The main event is for a $5 bag and takes place on Friday, April 28 at 9:00 am through Saturday, April 29th at 5:00 pm. From there, a passive sale of what’s left will take place from May 1st through May 4th during library hours. You’ll find the spring book sale at 423 7th St NE.

2. Lake Region Heritage Center Gala

Prepare for a unique evening gala this spring with a prime rib meal, baked potatoes, and a murder mystery. This year’s annual event embraces a Whodunit theme, where you can try to solve a murder mystery. There will also be a post office box grab, a live auction, and a raffle. You’ll enjoy live music from Samantha Richards and Simon Schlenker as well.

This event will take place on May 6 at 5:30 pm. You’ll find it at the Lake Region Heritage Center at 502 4th St NE.

3. Lake Region Angler Spring Northern & Walleye Fishing Tournament

On May 20th it’ll be time for another spring tournament from the Lake Region Anglers. This is a great day to use the power tailgate in your 2023 Jeep Compass Altitude 4×4. Kiwanis is again throwing its annual breakfast fundraiser. This spring you’ll want to head downtown to 522 4th St NE to eat your fill. The event will take place on April 27th with breakfast hours happening from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Dinner hours are 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

The proceeds from this event go to the Lake Region community to help children who are in need. In addition to the food, there will be an auction taking place as well. The family tickets are being sold for $30, or $5 per individual child, and $12 for an adult.

Basics About the 2023 Jeep Cherokee

Ahead of Jeep’s planned overhaul of its model lineup for 2024, the 2023 model year has only two trim levels for the Cherokee: the Altitude Lux and the Trailhawk, both of which are available exclusively in AWD.

While both trim levels can drive off-road fairly comfortably, the Trailhawk (as its name would suggest) has a few added features to make trails easier to handle. These include an extra inch of ground clearance, a standard traction-management system, and standard all-terrain tires.

What’s New in the 2023 Cherokee

Engine and Towing Performance

The Altitude comes with a powerful 2.4L four-cylinder engine that can put out 180 horsepower, while the Trailhawk uses a 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine rated at 270 horsepower. Importantly, both trim levels are more than capable of towing heavy loads.

The Altitude can tow up to 2,000 pounds: more than enough for a camping weekend with family and friends. The Trailhawk is rated at a maximum capacity of 4,000 pounds when equipped with the optional trailer tow package, making it ideal for heavy-duty applications.

Interior

The 2023 Cherokee enjoys the comfortable seats and spacious interior that Jeep is known for, with 25.8 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk. With the rear seats folded down, the Cherokee enjoys nearly 55 cubic feet of storage space. Cargo loops can be used to secure your load and ensure it does not shift around while driving.
