anyone else really wondering how they are going to continue this show for armand and daniel and dm?
I've been pondering this over since yesterday, but I simply do not see a way out of the hole they dug other than simply admit a lot of what we saw of them this season is a lie. (especially the loumand scene)
Nothing makes sense.
And then you watch these writers explain things and it's like... do you even know this book? do you know these characters? This isn't it.
I just don't know how the show is ever going to do any of it justice anymore. It feels like such an impossible thing the way things are now.
i know you said you're sorta holding off on talking about DM this season but I just read your daniel is a weird hybrid vampire theory and in S3E5 armand says to him that "he want to be his maker" which I think really fits into your theory. bcs it would be too simple to just read it as a proclamation of love or? i have a (hopeful) feeling you're really correct about sth here

So, for me, we haven't really gotten an answer to Eric's spoiler post yet about the Jackalope:
And the last time Eric made an IG post that he labeled a spoiler was for the end of S2, and it was the wooden coffin --
-- which was a hint as to what was going to happen to Daniel at the end of Season 2.
So right now, I believe that the reveal of the Jackalope spoiler will be done in the Season 3 final episode, just like the coffin one was revealed in the final episode of Season 2.
But yes, Jackalopes are considered to be, and defined as, "mythological hybrids." So I honestly can't think of anything such a spoiler could mean in relation to Daniel, except for maybe pointing to him likely being some type of hybrid.
Unless, of course, that statue of the Jackalope -- which we DO see placed right behind Daniel in EP304 -- is just used as a weapon by Daniel, or against him, in the final episode or something.
Like, I guess that is a possibility, too, even if I think that is kind of a low-stakes spoiler if that is all that it is IMO. 🤷🏾♀️
But for me, as I said in another ask, Daniel has been "off" to me ever since that TV interview scene at the end of Season 2. As well as during some moments this season, particually when it comes to his interviewing skills.
And I do think that the bowling ball changing colors the way it does -- particually when Daniel seemingly goes into the "rapture" with Armand -- does mean something.
And, point blank? It would answer why Daniel can walk in the sun and only seems to get tan/sunburned when doing so. Being a hybrid -- half-human, half-vampire-- would account for that.
Because I maintain that you can not teach a vampire, let alone a fledgling, how to walk in the sun. Armand is powerful, but not that powerful. And Armand, having strong blood, would not give Daniel the ability to walk in the sun. Not as a fledgling.
The show has stuck to the book lore with so MUCH, I do not see them breaking it when it comes to this.
And no, hybrid vampires are not part of the VC lore either. However, if they do it how I think they might be, it is something that would make sense within the lore, IMO, being that I think Daniel would likely be one because of all the blood he and Armand exchanged during their past relationship together.
Which is also why I think their bond is so strong and why we might have seen their bond in action back during Season 2, before Daniel became a vampire:

Side note: It was interesting to me that Louis and Lestat commented about Daniel being in the sun, but not Armand. 🤔
Anyway, just waiting to see if we do get a reveal about Daniel like this in the Season 3 finale, or not.
But I do think we'll get something wrt that Jackalope and what it means, whatever it might be.
ETA: So, um, @nalyra-dreaming pointed out to me this passage from The Vampire Lestat book, which I had totally forgotten about, in which Marius actually talks about hybrids:
So, um, yeah, hybrids actually are something when it comes to the lore from the books. 😅
And so, if this is what is going on with Daniel, I do think it would be a spin on this lore, and not just something that can fit within the overall lore of it all.

I think I speak for everyone in this fandom when I say that we need Black writers back in the writer’s room.
The Black writers for seasons 1-2 of IWTV were Ben Philippe, David B Harris, and A. Zell Williams.
These are the men responsible for providing substance and depth to the Black characters in the first two seasons, mainly Louis and Claudia. They knew how to tackle struggle, injustices, history, rage, pain, and the ugly truth of American and European Black history. They didn’t pull punches with the hard stuff and they knew how to work with the soft stuff.
Season 3 tried to create edgy content and humor without these men and absolutely failed at it in every way possible. And they have failed both Louis and Claudia.
The Black jokes about Louis being “Louisiana Fried Chicken”, Louis continuing to be the pimp and needing his White savior that is Lestat, Claudia’s entire monologue about Louis being a literal slave to Lestat in that old Louisiana accent. And not to mention the complete erasure of Lemuel after only a couple episodes.
It’s not working.
If there’s gonna be Black actors on screen, there needs to be Black writers in the writer’s room.
