“It seems he has,” Lacy laughed softly, rolling her eyes playfully in return. “I have seen those abs of his, and yet you still haven’t been dropped,” she teased back. The star couldn’t help but giggle at his reaction to them being roommates, her glow brightening that little bit more as the sound of happiness filled the air. “I’ll always be ready for your cuddles,” she smiled. “Good, because you know I’m not the brightest person in the morning,” she chuckled, scrunching up her face slightly. 

Lacy smiled softly as he spoke, her eyes watching his expression carefully. “Sometimes I feel like i’ve forgotten who I am without you too..” she said softly. “I mean, I wasn’t really much of a person before I met you. I hadn’t long been on Earth and didn’t really know who I was.. I honestly feel like the luckiest star alive simply because I had you helping me out,” she said gently. 

At his answer, a small frown pulled at her features. “I thought we agreed you wouldn’t do this..” she said softly. “I know it’s hard because of where we are at the moment, but you can’t do this to yourself..” she sighed. “Have you tried the bloodbags? Apparently they’re not great but they have to be better than nothing.. right?” she said. “You were injured, really badly Devon. You need to regain your strength somehow.”

“What has Ty been showing you? My vamp bro showing off his body to you? I’ll have to have a small chat with him.” He narrows his eyes, but cant hold the look for long and bursts out laughing. The laughter dies down as she talks about cuddles and he just feels so giddy and happy and stupidly lovestruck like he has every year since he met Lacy. If he could glow like Lacy he just knows he’d be a personal foglight right now with how bright he feels. He hides a laugh behind his hand and nods. “Remember that time you accidentally threw a lamp at my head because I woke you up early.” he bursts into laughter, remembering the broken shards by his head as her aim had been rather poor.

“They taste awful, but they’re always an option.” Devon nods, he feels empty, like his stomach was just an empty cavern. He nods slowly, trying to avoid her gaze because he didn’t want to see the concern and worry that he had placed there. “I know we talked about it, but...I just, I don’t know.” He’ll have to put up with the taste of stale blood, he can’t have that concern in Lacy’s eyes anymore. “I’ll feed, I promise”

“Now, can we go back to our room, and cuddle. I need some cuddles.”

Killian held back a laugh when the other male spoke; trying to act mature for once in his life “It’s the new contacts. It’s gonna get me sometime to get used too. I really shouldn’t be driving around like this anyway. Again, I’m sorry” he felt the need to apologize again, even though he said he was fine.

“I moved in about a week ago, so I’m semi-new” he nodded “Killian’s the name” he turned the engine from his car off and stepped out of the vehicle.

Devon chuckled softly, shaking his head at the other man. “Thankfully I’ve never had to wear them for long - I tried them a couple of years ago but I couldn’t get them out. I ended up looking like I’d given myself pink eye by the end of it so...that’s the end of me wearing contacts.” He laughs again, remembering the frustration. Halloween that year was awful because Lacy had decided to get white contacts just to make him jealous.

“Don’t worry, I’ve been hunted and staked - I feel like almost getting run over is the bottom of my “Things to be Pissed off about” list.” he jokes He nods, listening and smiles. 

“Been here about a couple of months so still quite new myself, don’t really know where I’m going still.” he laughs, watching as the man steps out of his car, Devon offers a hand to shake.

“I’m Devon, sometimes I get called Dev.”

“It’s nice to meet you too, Devon” Benji offered him a small smile and retracted his hand after a few seconds. “I’ve been here for a few months now. I only really moved here with the intention of staying a few weeks, but my girlfriends here with me now and I’m not in any hurry to leave anymore” he shrugged his shoulders and reversed the question “How long have you been here?”

He nodded, listening to Benji speak before giving a final nod of agreement. “I’m here with my wife, I think we’re just happy to stop running for a little while” He gives a short shrug.

“Maybe a month or so? I can’t really remember - My wife got here before I did so she’s been here longer. I’m still getting lost everywhere I go.” He laughs, rolling his eyes at himself.

Kayley watched as he rolled his eyes “What?” she questioned him in response “Don’t roll your eyes at me.” she folded her arms over her chest. “If you were so aware, then why would you settle here with your little star wife and happy family?” she couldn’t help the slight bitterness that leaked into her words. “Please. It’s not safe, not even now” she shook her head “You’re not going to get staked around here. None of us will. Right now? We’re at the top of the damn hierachy. Theres one demon. One and he barely shows his fucking face. So theres no chance.”

He narrowed his eyes a fraction as she mentions a family, how had she found out about Ava? had Lacy told her? and had Lacy told her that she was a star of all things? He doesn’t interrogate her on it because antagonising Kayley always does more bad than it does good.

“It’s not safe anywhere, but at least they’re happy here - and that’s what matters. I’ll protect them no mater where they are - it just so happens here I can take anybody on.” He nods, giving a sly grin “See, we’re in the safest place we can be right now.”

It had taken a while for Bennett to feel as though he was truly ready to leave his room again but as he glanced down at the camera that Becca had purchased him for their birthday, he knew that today was the day. Sure, things still hurt and Bennett wasn’t entirely back to himself but he was starting to see the positive and that was all he could ask for. Smiling softly, he picked up the object and shut his door with a little too much force, creating a loud boom that he was sure the others in the hallway would hear. “Shit.” He whispered softly, hoping he hadn’t disturbed anyone.

Devon, walking around the halls, continually getting lost even though he could have sworn this was the way to Tyler’s room. He frowned lightly before hearing a short burst of sound like a door closing - on instinct, and perhaps more importantly a little bit of nosiness - Devon inspected the sound before finding Bennett. He instantly brightened and strolled over.

“Bennett! I haven’t seen you in a while! How are you?”

Devon had been minding his own business, kind of lost in his own thoughts - lost in his own world. It wasn’t until the car was practically on top of him that he noticed it. He jumped back and heard an apologetic voice asking how he was. He shook off his shock and stepped around the car.

“I might have shit my underwear, but otherwise I think I’m cool. Good thing getting run over isn’t lethal to me.” His eyebrows furrowed for a moment looking at the man.

“Are you new around here? I’m not sure I’ve seen you before.”

Charlotte smiled slightly and nodded, running her tongue along her teeth as she took in his words. “Yeah I know. I’m just overthinking things,” she said with a soft laugh. “I can imagine you would be after that long together,” she smiled. “That’s actually a really good way to think,” she added.

“That’s okay, part of the human experience is over thinking things that don’t need to be over thought.” He nodded, giving a slight bashful smile before shrugging. “It’s not always been fairytale, but she’s it you know? I don’t know how to explain it properly.”

He shrugs again before nodding “It’s just something I’ve always heard and thought it was very true.” He smiles.

Lacy rolled her eyes playfully as he spoke. “What? But I was planning on throwing away 900 years of love for him!” she joked in an overly girly voice, letting the act drop and laughing seconds later. “Just kidding. Ty’s great, but I have my one and only,” she added softly, reaching up on her toes to kiss his nose. “Well you know, the roommates have been swapped around, and they finally processed our request, which means you can cuddle me all the time if you’d like- unless Ava wakes, then you’re going to have to deal with her,” she teased with another soft laugh. 

The blonde noticed instantly as he ignored her question and turned his gaze to the sky instead, but instead of looking up as well, her blue orbs remained locked on his face. “Sometimes,” she admitted with a small shrug. “But to be honest, if I had the chance I wouldn’t go back. Something tells me I would miss you and our little family a whole lot more..” she said gently before a slight frown pulled at her features. “Now excuse me, I believe I asked you a question,” she said with just a hint of seriousness in the playful words. Reaching up to cup his cheeks, she ran the pad of her thumb gently over the light bags under his eyes, lifting her own eyes to his once more. “You can’t fool me.. you know that. I’ve been loving you too long.. now be honest with me, my darling.. how long has it been?”

“That sneaky little vamp has played us both, my love.” Devon laughs, his joy evident in his eyes. H rolls his eyes as she assures Devon that he is her only, scoffing “Yeah right, have you seen those abs of his - I’d be dropped in a second” Devon teased, grinning stupidly as she kissed his nose. Devon placed a hand on he cheek, cupping her face. At the news he punched his free fist own towards the ground with a “Yes!” breathed out. “You’re gonna get so cuddled. I hope you’re ready.” his smile softened and his gaze turned to adoration and he nodded. “I’ll deal with her for the rest of time, and you.” 

He turned his gaze back on her as she said “sometimes” and watched her expression carefully, his own had dropped to a slight thoughtful frown. When she elaborated Devon nodded and allowed a slight tilting of his lips upwards to a small smile. “Good, sometimes I think I’ve forgotten who I am without you - it scares me a little bit, to be honest.” His own hand dropped from her cheek as hers came to encase his face, her fingers felt soft and firm on his cheeks and oh so familiar. His gaze flickered off, knowing he couldn’t get around this anymore.

“A week. Not in a week.” the emptiness in his stomach has been growing every day, and it was becoming harder finding new things to distract himself from.

“I’m usually just very straight forward when I want blood. If I’m craving it and there’s someone around I just ask. Something I’d only ever do in this town. I feel like I’d get a few slaps or end up in jail if I asked someone on the outside world if I could bite them..” Benji rolled his eyes at the thought and then extended his hand towards the other male.

“Benjamin. It’s nice to meet you”

Devon let out an unexpected laugh and nodded - true, he had assumed that he meant the humans on the outside but he made sense. Devon was usually quite wary around vampires - largely unpredictable in personality, however Benjamin seemed good, as good as vampires could get at least.

“Devon, good to meet you too, Ben. Ho long have you been here?” He asked, taking a quick glance around.

Kayley smiled and nodded in agreement, he had that right. She knew Devon would be disappointed if he heard about some of her escapades, but honestly? Lately? She just.. she didn’t really care anymore. She didn’t owe anyone anything. So she had no reason not to. 

“Yeah whatever. Nice” she muttered “This place honestly? It’s total bullshit Devon. Don’t tell me you’re naive enough to believe otherwise.”

He watched her expression and her attitude shift slightly and he rolls his eyes at her comment. “Of course I’m not, you think I’m not aware this place will probably destroy itself within the next couple of years?” It was almost inevitable - was it really possible for all of the supernatural creatures to live in one place in peace? 

“But while this safe spot is here, I’l be glad to not be staked by humans anymore, at least being staked around here I could still keep my dignity.”
