A commission I did of a friends daughter. She's such a sweetie and this picture captures her adventuress side. I had 3 hrs to do this piece, but if I had a little more time I could have smoothed out done if the rough edges I'm overall pleased with the end result.

After 20+ hrs of work my oil painting for my final. The rocks themselves took about 12 hrs with all the tiny little details...drove me mad! But in the end all the hard work paid off

I initially chose the project for its complexity, however having less than 2 weeks to work on it and having multiple side commissions I may have bitten off more than I could chew....I guess if I never push my limits I'll never grow...

The beginning stages of my graphic novel

New beginnings

Its been some time since I last posted, so I thought since i have some time now…Over the past few weeks I've taken on the daunting task of writing my own graphic novel. Im not much of a writer but I figured it would help with coming up with a concept art portfolio. However, after much obsession over this one idea I've got a solid idea and a few writer friends helping me smooth out the rough edges. So far the main stage of the novel takes place in the not so distant future where corporations are the governing power. Majority of the story also surounds the idea that the eyes are the window to the soul and vision.I also wanted the main character to have a lack of vision through a vision or mental issue…There would be two contrasting worlds visually, but they would mirror each other in every other way. I know that this is very vague but i didn't want to share too much before i can get a script fully written….As of right now I'm still very much at the research stage and character building…i guess i should get back at it then…till next time

The first day of the rest of my life

A friend of mine told me that I should start a blog to help promote myself and my work. I'm not much of a blogger or a writer but I figured it couldn't hurt, or maybe it could…oh well. This blog is primarily going to be about my journey as an artist, if i can't sketch my ideas out ill write them out and come back to them. I figured this may be a good place to start doing that, if i feel andventurous i'll probably post some excerpts from projects that I'm working on. However, I always feel weary about posting unfinished ideas/projects for fear of being ripped off. The internet has become a double edge sword, a great place to get recognized and build a career but also a place to be imitated and to be robbed. Anywho, I digress.

A little about myself, ever since i was a kid I've had a passion for the arts but when I got into high school i let my doubts and fears take over. I thought I'd make my parents happy by studying business and become some financial guru. In 2010 i graduated with a degree in finance and marketing only to find myself knee deep in law enforcement. I know right, that came out of left field… After six years working at a local law enforcement agency I found myself wildly unhappy…imagine that. It wasn't until a friend of mine asked me to pick up a pencil and design a California themed tattoo for him that I realized that the only thing that makes me happy is creating and sharing that creativity with others.

So I decided right there to go back and study art and get back to my roots. Its amazing how far off track we can get by not listening to your own heart. Even though the road is 1000 times harder now than what it was if I were to have done this from the get go, the path I've taken has given me clarity and desire that I've never had.
