I’m just as sad as you are. But I’m not surprised, given her age. She would have turned 100 on January 17th. Sometimes it’s simply a person’s time to go, and I’m at peace with that. I hope the world is at peace with that, too.

The woman was simply a legend. She was one of the pioneers of television as a medium and brought the world so much joy and laughter. This world can be cruel sometimes, but I honestly think humanity was left just a little bit better by having had her as a part of it.

I may write some more once I’ve had some time to gather my thoughts, but for now I think this meme I made (in the picture above) sums up how I want to remember Betty the most. It reads: Don’t cry because she’s gone, Smile because she was here.

Okay so...

Betty White died, new years eve 2021. It felt like she, somehow, would live forever. An immutable, universal constant. She had a TV career spanning most of the history if television itself.

She always had a progressive mindset. She set an example for other people her age to be better and learn and grow with the times. She never stopped learning, never stopped helping, never stopped being a light shining in darkness. She was a truly extraordinary woman who did everything she could to leave this world better than she found it.

It feels like the world is now just that little bit worse for her no longer being in it, but let's try to follow her example. Things are hard right now but let's keep going. Keep moving forward.

For Betty.
