So I was scrolling and saw this image in an article about the European heat wave,
And was like, uh, are you missing something there, buddy? Like all that red in northern Africa? Because that's a lot of red.
And I was going to give them the benefit of doubt, since I don't know much about the climate in Northern Africa, aside from Morroco and Egypt, which seem like really hot places, so you know, maybe it's normal there?
But nope, that's not the case:
Africa is struggling with heat waves and many countries on the continent lack the resources rich economies have to deal with rising temperat

my general opinion on what people should be "allowed" to portray and what topics they should be "allowed" to explore in fiction is that you can make whatever art with whatever themes you want but i'm also allowed to think the way you handled it was tasteless and should've been done differently. my negative opinion on your handling of sensitive topics is the price of admission for publicly showcasing your work. this is not a pro-censorship stance because i am not The Government

My fiance and I are currently unpacking from being evacuated cross-country (trans, intersex, immigrant reasons), he's just changed his name for the sake of his saftey and is ammending the required documents, we are getting decent medical care for the first time in a decade🎉 I am also going through an ill timed cancer scare and we are struggling to keep up with our bills, and feed ourselves. I need to eat to take my meds. I need the phone on to contact my doctor and schedule rides to appts.
Right now we are primarily concerned with the phone and power bills. The phone bills is due tomorrow. We had a payment plan to pay off the past due amt, but there screw up in making the payment plan and as a result, they want the full amount. We are $200 short for that rn.
I have art for sale on my kofi, and I will be posting more frequently. If anyone would like to buy art or jist throw us a bit to help with all of this, it'd be greatly appreciated.
To summarize a previous update, we got the phone bill paid, the power bill is due, and I had a doctors appt today. Nothing has been recieved since we got the phone bill covered.
The doctors appt was. Eventful. I will be getting a pulmunary function test, cardiac monitor, 5 refferals to specialists, and if one of those goes well, I will be getting very major surgery in the relatively near future. If another one goes well, I may not need to pay for the MRI out of pocket, but thats not for certain. This is all on top of my biopsy, which has taken a while to schedule because it keeps getting passed to more knowledgable surgical teams. Our food stamps application was also resubmitted today, after some confusion regarding the documents.
Right now, our most urgent needs are food, $50 for the power bill, and anything to cushion the blow of the next phone bill and the likely upcoming month or so I will be down due to massive surgery. This is something I am stressing about, because it will be hours away, and I have allergies such that hospitals can't normally feed me without killing me, so I will need to spend a lot on pre-prepared food.
My fiance is back in this hospital, this time hetting checked for a blood clot (recently he had pancreatitis) Hospitals can't feed him due to multiple cross contamination sensitive allergies to common foods, so we may fairly urgently need some help with food costs.
We are back home, they didnt find a blood clot, but his bloodwork was all over the place, so theyre concerned and very adamant he keep his upcoming drs appt. We could really use some help with food in the meantime as we are waiting for snap, and we may need some help with the prescriptions the ER discharged him with.
