BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER 7.05 | "Selfless"
witching hour
Hot take: Pigeons are majestic. Who agrees with me??
I feel like a lot of Gen Z don't know that the ACA/Obamacare was the compromise.
The Democrats wanted Medicare for All. The Republicans wanted Free Market Healthcare (aka poor people die). Obama took a plan initially conceived by the Heritage Foundation (those project 2025 fuckers) and implemented by Romney for Massachusetts to say "hey, you can have a little free market, but we gotta cover other people too".
It was already a compromise. And the Republicans lost their shit and have proceeded to spend fifteen years crying about their own plan being rampant socialism and repeatedly trying to repeal it despite never actually having a back-up plan for healthcare, simply because they never really wanted compromise to begin with. The moment Obama got elected, they got into a meeting and vowed to tear down everything he tried to build no matter how much it agreed with their so-called values. Because racism, let's be honest, but also because any compromise they put forward is just a show.
"Meet me in the middle, says the unjust man" isn't just a hypothetical. It's literally what happened when we tried to meet Republicans in the middle with healthcare.
Yes! By the way republicans are this way on purpose. Their end-game is to get it their way, no compromise, at the expense of absolutely every US citizen that isn't insanely wealthy. The republican party is a party by and for rich people that serves rich people interests. Everyone else, all of us, are just fodder to them.
There is no negotiating with fascists, because they refuse to negotiate. The republican party is a fascist party.

The tomb of a pastor's wife and stillborn child in a church in Hindelbank, Switzerland, 1751, depicting their resurrection.
@banana-with-a-bow-tie I agree with Citrus I’m sobbing thanks
Oh, a colleague of mine just wrote her PhD dissertation on this!
This is the Grave of Maria Magdalena Langhans by Johann August Nahl. Nahl was hosted by the pastor and his pregnant 28yo wife Maria Magdalena when she died during childbirth. Moved by this, he decided, by himself and without being commissioned to do so by anyone to make this grave for her. It became a huge place of pilgrimage for the next 150 years.
Will she ever find her knight?
hey, can I come in? I pinky promise I’m not a visitor . . . 🥺🙏🏻✨
it’s so confusing sometimes to be a girl ❤️🔥

One thing I love about Knights of Guinevere is how Gwen is a victim of Orville and Olivia.
A lot of times with these Disney satires, writers will use either a direct parody of Mickey Mouse or a Mickey-esque mascot as a representative of Disney's corporate greed, abuse and corruption. But with KoG, Gwen is as much of a victim of Park Planet as are workers like Andi and Franki. It's an excellent metaphor for how characters like Mickey Mouse, who were originally created to spread joy and whimsy, end up being exploited and commercialized for the sake of maximizing profit margins.
The Knights of Guinevere 🥀
Okay so after a rewatch I’m 100% convinced Guinevere is Olivia’s mom in some way and here’s why:
(Obvious spoilers under the cut.)
