Fat Spoon, curry & pasta joint in Little Tokyo
Oh Fat Spoon. You didn't even have fat spoons! (The fat plastic ones at Chinese and Viet restaurants)
The service was good, and the food came out fast. A bit pricier than other curry joints. ~$9-12 for a curry and meat with rice. Decent portion.
I had the hamburger curry special. The man said Japanese style hamburger, but looked and tasted like a normal hamburger. Curry was good, but nothing special.
My friend had the uni pasta special. He said the uni was not fresh and a bit bitter. The pasta was too bland, so he added a bowl of parmasean cheeses. I added a spoonful of red pepper. The BOTTOM LINE: Decent but nothing special.
I would rather be gay than be quiet.

Strength from Weakness
The most socially inept computer geek in the world created the world’s most popular social media platform. Our greatest strengths come from our biggest weaknesses. Do you get me now, sweetheart?
You have to trust in something... because believing that the dots will connect down the road, will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well-worn path... Stay hungry, stay foolish.
~Steve Jobs
Everyone concerned about the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell needs to keep in mind two things. 1: Alexander the Great is the last person to conquer Afghanistan. 2: Alexander the Great had sex with a lot of men. The repeal might actually be the solution to all our problems.

As a rookie foodie, I realized that I needed to ramp up my taste vernacular. So here's a site I stumbled upon that has a vocabulary list for describing food and wine.
http://world-food-and-wine.com/describing-food
My favorite is ambrosia.
"Ambrosia is the food of the gods, and epicurean delight, food fit for a king, delicacy, heavenly spread, gastronomical delight, some apply this term to the pièce de résistance in a meal."
I can't wait to describe a food as ambrosia.
Wurstküche, the exotic sausage shop
For those who were wondering, "Wurstküche" does not mean "the worst vag" in German. Instead it means exotic sausage shop in Los Angeles. Here are the highlights of what I inserted into my mouth:
The Exotic Sausages
Duck & Bacon with Jalapeno + Belgian Fries
Three of my favorite foods wrapped in a bun with Sauerkraut makes me a happy camper.
Rattlesnake & Rabbit with Jalapeno
Surprisingly my favorite of what I tried. Maybe it's just because it's fun to say that I ate rattlesnake for lunch. While I won't say it tasted like chicken, I will say it was tasty. Who knew I would enjoy my first reptilian meat. (Is rattlesnake considered red or white meat? Or Blue for being cold-blooded? For the health conscious, rattlesnake meat is low in calorie and fat and high in protein. Watch for organic snake meat to hit Whole Foods soon if it hasn't already.)
Oh, and I can't believe I forgot to mention the beer selection. They have great beers from Germany and Belgium! I only tried sips of it (as I had to get back to work), but they were delicious. And the service was friendly! (genuine friendly, not the fake-ass-join-my-cult friendly that makes you want to stab yourself in the eye)
Check out their food menu.
The BOTTOM Line: One of my new favorite spots in Los Angeles. Will be back for more!
In many ways the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgement. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But, the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things... the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something... and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends. Last night I experienced something new, an extraordinary meal from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about fine cooking,is a gross understatement-- they have rocked me to my core. In the past I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau’s famous motto: “Anyone Can Cook”. But I realize only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Gusteau’s, who is, in this critic’s opinion, nothing less than the finest Chef in France. I will be returning to Gusteau’s soon, hungry for more.
