In David Zinn’s (@davidzinn) sidewalk chalk illustrations, alien creatures often enter our world through portals from their own. “I draw holes in impossible places because it suggests that our lives might not be as set and predictable as we think they are,” he explains. “The creatures who come through are representatives of benevolent improbability.”

A self-described “compulsive doodler”, David uses his chalk drawings as an excuse to spend time outside. “The bulk of my pieces have been the result of wandering around until I stumble across a place that asks for something,” he says. “The most successful drawings have been suggested by spots, stains and cracks in the concrete, like an open-ended game of connect-the-dots. I just add more lines and spots until the thing that wants to be drawn can be seen by people other than me.”

Sedikit cerita aja Ceritanya tiap subuh gw kebangun seperti biasa, jam 4. Ngecek hp sama sedikit baca email yang belom gw baca semalem. Tetibaan gw ngerasa ada sesuatu yg nyenggol jendela kamar gw. Awalnya gw pikir ah paling tetangga gw atau angin. Eh tapi kamar gw di pojok dan tetangga gw ga mungkin balik jam 4 secara doi anak Tuhan abis. Berarti angin. Kelar itu 1 atau 2 menit kemudian gw denger ada yang lari, tapi langkahnya ini beda, bedalah dari langkah biasanya. Sontak gw bangun dan ngecek pintu, gw cek doble kunci 2x. Kelar gw ngunci lah suara anjing ngelolong kenceng bener. Daahhhhh. Alamat. akhirnya gw bilang udah jangan ganggu, gw mau tidur. Tadi siang sebelom gw keluar beli makan gw tanya, semalem kayak ada anjing deh naik keatas, terus gw denger ada suara lolongan anjing sama langkah kaki gitu. Dengan enteng penjaga kos gw bilang, sembari senyum, mbak kan kemaren itu kalo gak salah kliwon. Gw cuma bilang, ohhhh biarinlah kalo gitu. Ya sudahlah. – Read on Path.
