So back in the middle of s3, there was this analysis of the muffin story line and the symbolism of it in regards to the Tyrus story line. If you’ve never read it or haven’t read it in a while, it’s right here. I couldn’t find other examples, but I vaguely remember people theorizing that it would play into how Cyrus and TJ ultimately getting together. Basically, the idea was that Cyrus would take TJ’s advice for just going for it but in regards to them getting into a relationship.
Now that we’ve seen how it went down, we can see that wasn’t the case. Cyrus seemingly resigned himself to the fact that TJ didn’t like him romantically. And TJ was the one who ultimately made the first move. But looking back at the dialogue from 2x08:
T: Walk to the muffin like you already own it. C: Then what do I do? T: Take the muffin. C: That’s it? T: Just don’t let anyone stand in your way.
In the case of their relationship, Kira was standing in their way. And she was primarily blocking TJ by manipulating him. But once he was able to stand up to her, he was able to start a relationship with Cyrus. And like how he encouraged Cyrus to reach out a grab a muffin, he had to work up the courage to take Cyrus’ hand.
In the end, TJ had to take his own advice and that’s what it took for Tyrus to happen.
episode 10 literally ends with "and we are just getting started" like.....disney. she said it, not me. listen to your future president and renew doafp
disney: we CANNOT let people forget hsmtmts existed. lets post about it every week and have the entire cast take over our instagram stories permanently.
also disney: diary of a futher precedent? never heard of her
why are people bashing the episode? even the gay part was well developed and had a good amount of angst without being over the top, just sorta realisitic. i understand the frustration with disney and everything but it’s clear that this storyline in particular was meant to carry into season 2, with season 1 basically ending with bobby accepting himself as gay. i’m sorry to say it but cartero getting together at this point…..wouldn’t have made sense
maybe I screamed “same” at my computer screen when Bobby was talking to himself in the mirror, just maybe
It's Bobby-loving hours, bitches
Ok but seriously, I love this character. He acts just like a regular eight grade boy, but he still encapsulates the struggle of coming out to yourself and to those around you in such a realistic and heartfelt way. I love this show, and it deserves more attention. Renew doafp!!!
bobby cañero-reed and his bisexual (possibly) finger guns
APPARENTLY, DISNEY CUT A CARTERO SCENE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN IN THE FINALE AND I DEMAND TO SEE IT
I would not be upset at all if we had season 2 confirmed. honestly, I think I’d be happy because that means their relationship could develop deeper into highschool...I’m just scared we won’t get to see canon cartero bc it’s been nothing but crickets regarding renewal news
God, dude.
disney didn’t screw us over that’s exactly what being gay in middle school is like
bobby in the mirror was litterally me
personally i don’t really have an issue with the s1 doafp finale in terms of bobby’s sexuality and his feelings for liam. i don’t think he should feel pressured to confess to liam as soon as he realises what his feelings for liam are/mean. he’s still figuring out who he is and he shouldn’t rush into anything with liam if he isn’t ready, so i think the way he talks about being confused/not really knowing how to express his feelings is represented well. i’m hoping we get a season 2 and we can see more of bobby figure out his sexuality and feelings(in general- not just for liam) and even come out to his family!!!
skipping school to not deal with your feelings? gay. sending a text that your regret? gay. throwing/hiding your phone to not see the response? gay. talking about your crush in terms of “this person”/being very vague about what’s going on? gay. trying to talk about your feelings to this person? gay. figuring out a way to immediately change the subject so you don’t have to? gay. talking to yourself in the mirror about your feelings? gay. hesitating to say the word? gay. realizing that you’re going to have to say the word eventually? gay. realizing that your going to have to accept it someday? gay. not talking about it with anyone in your own family including your mother? gay. sorry but this show needs a season 2
no one:
not a single soul:
bobby: chill.
