Palestinian diplomat Husam Zomlot explained in his interview with The Independent:

“Israel is always in search of an enemy because they don’t want to deal with the biggest elephant in the room, which is the Palestinian people. We have warned the world for years: if this can happen in Gaza, it will be done elsewhere. And here you go. We have said so many times: what happens in Palestine does not stay in Palestine. Whatever happens in Palestine spreads to the rest of the world."

92% of residential buildings in Gaza have been damaged. Most people (1.7 million) are living in displacement sites where living conditions are dire due to overcrowding and inadequate access to basic necessities like drinking water, soap, lighting, safe cooking fuel and shelter materials.

Over 170,000 Palestinians have been seriously injured, with 18,500 requiring urgent medical evacuation, but they are being blocked by Israel's crossing closures. 120,000 children will need treatment for acute malnutrition this year. 58,000 children have lost one or both parents.

Over 9,500 Palestinians are incarcerated by Israelis, subject to brutal torture. A new law enables the systematic execution of potentially hundreds by hanging.

This is what is happening in Palestine. The future is shaped by what we do next. We must support the survival and self-determination of Palestinians.
